It was one of those days when Royal Challengers Bangalore showed what they are capable of doing. Their biggest worry turned out to be their strength in a match against Kings XI Punjab when they bowled out Punjab on the lowest total of the season. On such day, a batting heavyweight KXIP bundled out on 88. And it took only 8.1 overs for RCB to chased down the target with all the wickets in hand. Punjab's performance with the bat also saw how much they rely on KL Rahul and Chris Gayle. More than 30% runs were being scored by Gayle and Rahul in this IPL.## When Gayle and Rahul walked out in the middle, a sense of nostalgia would have hit Royal Challengers Bangalore and their countless fans. One year ago, these two used to play for the RCB (although Rahul missed out the entire season due to injury) up the batting order and then followed by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers at number 3 and 4. However, the situation was not same as RCB finished in the last position, their worst season ever. Injuries also hurt their cause badly as Kohli and de Villiers missed out a few matches. Although, both batting and bowling were the equal responsibility for their poor display in last season.## In this IPL, they improved their performance but still are struggling to make it to the playoffs. Their bowling has been very poor throughout the season despite their dominating display in the previous match against KXIP. Perhaps a bit too late but nonetheless, RCB will take it considering what their performance have been so far.## Well, it was the day when RCB came out with all guns fired and gave KXIP a shock after bowled them out on 88. Umesh Yadav, who has been arguably the best bowler of this season, again was impressed with the new ball. He sent back both the openers inside first five overs. After that, it was the matter of time before Punjab bowled out in 15.1 overs.## Chasing 89 was never going to bother RCB in any way. Perhaps it was the best chance for them to boost their Net Run-Rate along with two important points. RCB grabbed this opportunity and chased down the target in 8.1 overs with 10-wickets in hand.## Although, it is not going to easy for them to qualify for the playoffs as two teams already qualified and four teams are ahead of them in the points table. Both RCB and MI have 10 points each but MI is the bit ahead in NRR. Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kings XI Punjab by 10-wickets after their dominating performance at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on Monday (May 14). Led by Umesh Yadav's 3 for 23, RCB bowled out KXIP on a modest total of 88 in 15.1 overs, before they made this chase a Cakewalk and chased down the target in just 8.1 overs and provided RCB an all-important win to get two crucial points and boost their net run-rate.## How crucial was toss and how Punjab respond## Win the toss and opted bowl first. It has been the tendency of this season and Virat Kohli didn't change it. However, it was a challenge for the batting heavyweight KXIP to put on a challenging total. KL Rahul shone his intent from the second over with a six to Tim Southee and followed it up with another one to Umesh Yadav in next over. Chris Gayle took on Southee for 3 fours in the fourth over. Both Rahul and Gayle put 36 runs off 27 balls and gave Punjab a good start.## Then how did they bowled out on 88## After putting 36 for the opening stand, Rahul was the first batsman to be dismissed. He scored 21 off 15 balls with three maximums. After that, it was just matter of time to bowled out on 88. After Rahul's wicket, Gayle also followed him in the same over before scoring 18 off 14 balls. Karun Nair and Marcus Stoinis also fell cheaply in back to back overs. After reducing 50 for 4, Aaron Finch did fight for a while but got out to Moeen Ali after scoring 26 off 23 balls. However, after that none of the batsmen couldn't do much and bowled out on just 88 in 15.1 overs.## How good were RCB with ball## Outstanding. It was perhaps best bowling display by RCB in this IPL. Led by Yadav, who dismissed both the openers inside first 6 overs. Umesh Yadav finished his spell with 3 for 23. Moeen Ali and Chahal were brilliant with spin bowling and didn't allow batsmen to open their arms. Chahal bowled only two overs and conceded only 6 runs and picked a wicket. While Ali finished with 13 for 1 in 2.1 overs.## Kohli-Parthiv finished in style## 89 was never going to trouble RCB. It was a matter of how quickly RCB get those runs. It took only 8.1 overs to get those runs as RCB chased down the target with 10-wickets in hand. Virat Kohli scored 48* off 28 balls including 6 fours and 2 sixes. While Patel remained unbeaten on 40 off 22 balls with the help of 7 fours.## Umesh Yadav awarded Man Of The Match for his brilliant spell of fast bowling. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians received a big blow to their playoff hopes after this defeat.## Mumbai Indians got a solid start but couldn't not capitalize this start and restricted to 168 after 20 overs. Rajasthan Royals chased down this target comfortably in the end with two overs to spare. Thanks to Jos Buttler's an unbeaten 94 off 53 balls including 9 fours and 5 sixes.## Where did MI let this match slipped from their hands## After first 10 overs. This has been the story so far. They wasted the start provided by their openers. After putting to bat first, Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis put on a 87-run stand for the first wicket before they collapsed in middle overs. losing Suryakumar Yadav after scoring 38 off 31 balls, MI lost big wicket on very next ball as Rohit Sharma gone on golden duck. Ishan Kishan, the hero of the other night couldn't contribute much in this game and manage to get only 12 off 11 balls before Ben Stokes grabbed him.## Evin Lewis, who hadn't been in good form in last few matches, found his lost touch and scored 60 off 40 balls including 4 fours and 4 sixes. Krunal Pandya also failed to score runs and made only 3 off 7 balls.## Hardik-The finisher came to rescue## When Krunal got out, MI were 131 after 17 overs. Chennai Super Kings beat table topper Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8-wickets after Ambati Rayudu's maiden IPL ton at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Sunday (May 13). Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson provided a solid start to CSK after Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson's 123-run stand lifted SRH to 179 after 20 overs. CSK chased down the target with one over to spare.## Ambati Rayudu- The show-stopper## Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu gave CSK a solid start by putting 134-run stand for the first wicket. However, Watson ran out himself after scoring 57 off 35 balls. But Ambati Rayudu was the show-stopper for the CSK. He not only scored his maiden IPL century but also guided CSK through home comfortably by remaining not out on 100. None of the SRH bowler could make an impact against him. He reached to his fifty off 31 balls with a massive six to Siddarth Kaul.## Before that, both Rayudu and Watson took on Bowlers. In second over of the innings, Rayudu hit first six of the innings to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and after that Watson followed up by two back to back sixes to Sandeep Sharma. CSK completed their 50 in just sixth over. Royal Challengers Bangalore revived their chances after putting a clinical performance against Delhi Daredevils on Saturday (May 12). AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli put 118-run stand after Rishabh Pant and debutant Abhishek Sharma's explosive innings lifted DD to 181 after 20 overs. However, Kohli and de Villiers overshadowed Pant and Sharma's innings with 70 and 72* runs respectively.## It was yet another Kohli-de Villiers show with bat as the registered their eighth hundred plus run partnership. Their highest came against Gujrat Lions back in 2016, where the duo put on an unbeaten 229 runs.## It was a must-win game for RCB to stay alive as they are sitting now on the seventh spot with 8 points in 11 matches.## "The table is wide open. It was a right time to get a win for us. It was a great feeling playing in front of a big crowd. Surprising to see so much support for us in Delhi. Again not a clinical show with the ball. We should have restricted them to maximum 160, but they played really well. At this stage of the tournament, maybe we will prefer bowling first because the batsmen can take more responsibility and chase down every total. We understand teams don't want to let us win now. Ask the opposition team to gets runs and tell them we are coming after it. That's what works for our team and it really motivated us,"said Virat.## However, Virat Kohli thinks that he wasn't happy with the way they bowled. But had all praised for his partner AB de Villers.## "I wasn't happy with the way we finished with ball. KKR posted 245 on board before KL Rahul came out with all guns to fire. He provided a explosive start to KXIP before bowled out by Sunil Narine. He scored 66 off 29 balls with the help of 2 fours and 7 sixes. However, Ashwin fought hard till the end but couldn't see through his team as they restricted on 214.## Sunil Narine roar again##Kings XI Punjab opted to bowl first after winning the toss. On a batting heavy pitch, Narine took full advantage of the new ball. After playing 7 balls, he was dropped by Mujeeb Ur Rahaman on his own ball and that proved costly in the end. He hit six on next ball and followed up with a four. However, Chris Lynn was bowled out by Andrew Tye after scoring 27 off 17 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes. On the other end, Chris Gayle was taking his time to get set. Rahul was on fire as KXIP reached to fifty in just 5 overs. However, on the score of 57, they lost Gayle and Mayank Agarwal in successive balls. But it didn't affect Rahul as he got his another fifty in this IPL off just 22 balls. He was going after every ball and it resulted his wicket after hitting 2 sixes to Narine in space of 3 balls. Rajasthan Royals, after playing tough few matches in the middle, back to winning streak with back to back wins. However, the scene could have been different if they didn't play with Buttler on top. ## But as it is said "better late than before". They finally found their right combination up the batting order. After promoted Buttler as an opener, Rajasthan Royals won two out of four matches they played. Royals move up to number six in the points table with 10 points in 11 matches.## Jos Buttler has been outstanding after promoted as an opener. In last four matches, he has scored 67(26), 51(39), 82(58), 95*(60). These scores are enough to prove that RR missed a trick by not promoting him up the order.## However, it was not all that easy for Buttler after tough he had played before. But he adapted himself with the role he had given after. Buttler is the perfect man RR in first 6 overs where he can make full use of field restriction. He always provided flying start to Rajasthan Royals in those matches.## However, his latest knock against the Chennai Super Kings was arguably the best among the lot given that it had several fluctuations as the situation demanded, and him coming out in triumph each time. More than that his role always was to provide flying start.## In the match against CSK, he not only provided RR a solid start but also stood as a lone warrior in the run chase. However, CSK pushed Buttler on the back foot for several times and kept taking wickets in regular interval but he didn't lose his concentration and played till the end. He single-handedly took RR through home.## His knock was also applauded by the Chennai Super Kings head coach, Stephen Fleming after the match.## "I was pretty comfortable with the score that we got. But was had to get Stokes and Buttler early. We got Stokes but as I said, Buttler was a class apart. He was able to take the conditions out of play, he still found it difficult as the game went on. We still felt we had a chance if we got him out, but we just didn't get him out," said Fleming.## However, Fleming thinks that their bowler didn't execute their plans and allowed Buttler to open his arms.## He said, "The bowling could have been better. It's under pressure that Buttler played a good inning on a difficult track. We could have been more accurate, we missed a few times. But the fair bit of pressure the way Buttler played. It was almost two different games wasn't it?, if we could have got him earlier, I think the result might have been different. But I think it was great lone hand and we had no real answers. He put us under pressure. We had our chances but just couldn't capitalize tonight,".## Rajasthan Royals will be hoping that Buttler will continue his fine form into next matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad became the first to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2018 after beating Delhi Daredevils by 9 wickets in a run feast contest on Thursday (May 10). It was one such day where Delhi Daredevils were struggling at 52 for 3 at halfway stage before 20-year old Rishabh Pant played a stunning counter-attack. He scored an unbeaten 128 off 63 balls including 15 fours and 7 mighty six. ## However, SRH chased down their highest target after Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson's masterful show with bat and put on an unbeaten 176-run stand for the second wicket and saw SRH through the home with more than one over to spare.##Rishabh Pant has been in sensational form throughout this IPL. He is now leading run-getter in this IPL with 521 runs in 11 innings. However, his effort with the bat didn't prove enough as Daredevils has already been out of this tournament. ## "It's is very harsh for our team because the pitch played better in the second half due to dew. Happens in cricket sometimes, your bowling unit doesn't click," Pant said while receiving the orange cap. ## When he was asked about his knock, he said, "I was just trying to see the ball and hit it cleanly. Took my time early on and things worked out well. Happens, it was a miscommunication (about ran out his partner), I just misjudged the run. It is a part and parcel of the game. After a couple of run outs, I just wanted to take extra responsibility for the team. It was a knock that certainly among my best ones."## On the other hand, Kane Williamson, who is now second highest run-getter with 493 runs in 11 innings, played a big role in this run chase. And we have been playing on tough surfaces, so it was nice to go out and execute our batting plans. It's always tough chasing here. At the halfway mark, we thought it was a tough surface, keeping a touch low perhaps. Pant played a special knock. They had a score above par. Dew played a little part, yes. The wicket was a good surface towards the end. A bit of partnership at the top, which gave us the momentum. We were batting with intent when chasing 180. I think when you are rotating strike the boundaries start to come. It was nice to get that partnership. Shikhar was outstanding, certainly put them on the back foot."## Sunrisers will also be happy to see the way Shikhar Dhawan had played. He had been struggling since the ball hit his elbow earlier this season. However, he came out with all gun and played an unbeaten knock of 92 off 50 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes. He awarded Man Of The Match for this knock.## "The Gabbar was always there- Yes! He's back. Rishabh played an amazing knock he took the game away from us. But we believed that we'll go in with a positive mindset. I have played lots of cricket over here.
