Mumbai, August 17 - Pan India superstar Prabhas has teamed up with Sita Ramam director Hanu Raghavapudi for his next film, tentatively called PrabhasHanu. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the movie was officially launched on August 17 with a traditional Pooja ceremony.## The yet-untitled movie is said to be a period action drama, set in the 1940s and is the tale of a warrior who rose from the shadows, emerging from a society that believed war was the only answer to the buried injustices and forgotten truths that history kept hidden from the world.## Debutante Imanvi is the lead actress opposite Prabhas in the movie, while the yesteryear eminent actors Mithun Chakraborty and Jaya Prada play pivotal roles. The movie is to be mounted on a high budget with lavish production values and world-class technical standards.## Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar will bankroll the project under Mythri Movie Makers. Sudeep Chatterjee ISC will crank the camera, while Vishal Chandrasekhar will provide the music. Mumbai, August 17 - Maddock Films and Jio Studios' horror-comedy Stree 2 has topped the 100 crores net collection and become the fastest Bollywood movie of 2024 to achieve the feat, reaching the milestone in less than 3 days.## Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, the blockbuster sequel scored approximately 91.70 crores net in the first 2 days, including previews. On its third day (first Saturday), it scored an estimated 43+ crores net and with that, the movie has crossed the 100 crore mark, becoming the 4th Bollywood movie and 10th Indian movie of the year to do so.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is the 7th film of Shraddha Kapoor and the second for Rajkummar Rao (after Stree) to top 100 crores net collection. For director Amar Kaushik, it is his 3rd 100 crores net scorer after Stree and Bala. Overall, Stree 2 is the 122nd movie in Hindi to score a box office century.## Stree 2 opened to a historic collection of over 60 crores net, including 8.50 crores net previews. Bengaluru, August 17 - The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) announced the winners of the 70th National Film Awards at the National Media Center in New Delhi on Friday (August 16), to honour feature and non-feature films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022. ## Among the big winners, Kannada production house Hombale Films scored 4 National Awards wins. Rishab Shetty-fronted action thriller Kantara won the Best Actor award to Shetty and the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Mumbai, August 17 - Sony Pictures romantic drama It Ends With Us is turning out to be a surprise success at the Indian box office with a good collection. Directed by Justin Baldoni, the movie stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni in the leading roles.## It Ends With Us was released with almost no awareness among the Indian audience and started with 2/3 shows in Key English-speaking cinemas, but thanks to the positive response from the Thursday Preview, it quickly spread to more than 300 screens.## The film had a very good opening weekend of approximately 5.25 crores gross box office collection and went on to collect around 9 crores in Week one making it the biggest romantic Hollywood film of all time in India besting The Fault in Our Stars which had a lifetime Gross of 6.4 cr.## The movie had a good hold on the second Friday as well collecting around 45 lakh gross despite massive competition from 6 local films including Stree 2, Khel, Khel Main, and Double iSmart. Chennai, August 17 - Tamil star Dhanush's action thriller Raayan is all set to premiere digitally after the record-breaking box office performance. The movie is written, directed, and stars Dhanush in the leading role alongside Sundeep Kishan, Selvaraghavan, Kalidas Jayaram, and Dushara Vijayan, among others.## Released on July 26, the A-rated blockbuster is the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 so far with a worldwide box office collection of around 152 crores gross. The movie has been in theatres for more than three weeks and is now set for its digital release.## Produced by Sun Pictures, Raayan will premiere via Amazon Prime Video on August 23 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada, languages. Mumbai, August 16 - Sunny Deol-fronted epic war drama Border 2 is easily one of the most-awaited Indian movies. The movie, which is the sequel to 1997's epic blockbuster Border, was announced earlier this year with Sunny returning to reprise his role and Anurag Singh taking the directorial duty. ## Recently, it was reported that Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh was roped in to play a prominent role in the movie and now, according to the report by Pinkvilla, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has signed on for Border 2 and the actor will headline the film along with Sunny Deol.## "Border 2 is the biggest film in Indian Cinema in the making, and the team is making it even bigger with the casting by getting Varun Dhawan to play a major role in the tale with Sunny Deol. Border franchise holds a special place in the heart of the audience, and the casting of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan in the sequel is sure to elevate the appeal even further", says the report.## The report further revealed that the shoot of Border 2 will commence in November this year and Varun is expected to join the filming after the release of his action thriller Baby John in December this year. Mumbai, August 16 - Marvel Studios and Disney's superhero comedy Deadpool and Wolverine has officially become the highest-grossing R-rated (equivalent to A-rating in India) movie of all-time at the worldwide box office, beating Warner Bros. Pictures' Joker. ## Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the titular roles, Deadpool & Wolverine has earned $1.08+ billion globally so far, which takes it past Joker which had grossed $1.07 billion in its lifetime run. These two are the only R-rated movies to top $1 billion worldwide.## As reported earlier, Deadpool 3 is the first Disney-released Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie since Avengers: Endgame in 2019 to top $1 billion globally, and, it is also the first R-rated movie released by Disney. Overall, it is the first MCU title since Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) to reach the milestone.## Earlier, the third Deadpool instalment scored the biggest opening of 2024 at the domestic (North America and Worldwide box office with $211 million and $444 million, respectively. Mumbai, August 15 - Amid the box office juggernaut of Stree 2, Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-starrer action drama Vedaa were battling it out to come second and it is the latter one which won the race by a fair margin.## According to the early estimates, the John Abraham-led scored in the range of 6.50-7 crores net on its opening day. It is a fair opening considering a 3-way clash. It was always going to be difficult for the movie to score due to Stree 2 which was easily the first choice of the moviegoers but Vedaa did decently overcome that challenge.## The occupancy of Vedaa showed improvement throughout the opening day, especially post-noon shows. The opening of the film is above the projections by a decent margin which can be seen as a good sign. The initial word of mouth seems to be mixed and it needs to be seen how it fairs in the coming days.## Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein showed a significant improvement over the actor's last movie Sarfira but the overall opening remained low to the standard of Akshay who has continuously delivered very good starts at the box office.## According to the early estimates, the comedy-drama scored in the range of 5 crores net on its first day which is in sync with projections. The movie started slow in the morning shows but showed significant improvement post that with occupancy around 50%. ## The initial word of mouth for Khel Khel Mein seems to be okay and it should see improvement, especially on Saturday and Sunday which needs to be seen.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 15 - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2 has stormed the box office and put all the projections in the backburners to score one of the biggest openings of all time and easily the biggest for a movie released on Independence Day (August 15). ## According to the early estimates, Maddock Films' production is expected to score in the range of 45-47 crores net which is among the top 10 starts in Hindi ever. It just went overdrive with houseful boards everywhere, carrying exceptional occupancies.## It is quite remarkable that a film which was expected to open in the range of 25 crores net max a few weeks back and was up against two other big Bollywood movies, exceeded those expectations to put up these numbers which is easily the biggest ever for a non-superstar title. ## The opening of Stree 2 is almost double that of the previous biggest starters, Kalki 2898 AD and Fighter which opened to 22.50 crores net each in 2024.
