After Box Office History, Ahaan Pandey, Aneet Padda's Saiyaara Storms To Number 1 On Netflix

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, September 17 - After scripting history at the box office, debutante Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda's romantic drama Saiyaara continues to wave its magic as it has taken Netflix by storm by emerging as the number 1 non-English movie worldwide this past week. Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara started streaming on Netflix from 12 September after completing the mandatory 8-week theatrical run. Despite the majority of its target audience having already watched it in theatres, the film has soared to number 1 on the streamer with 3.7 million (37 lakh) views in the first 3 days. With 3.7 million views or 9.3 million viewing hours, Saiyaara is among the most-watched Indian films in the first weekend on Netflix this year. It is also trending at the number 1 in 9 countries this week, including India, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Mauritius, while trending in the top 10 in 15 countries. It has been observed in the past that those films have fared better on Netflix, which did better at the box office, than those which began streaming directly, and Saiyaara, with a solid start, has proved that again. This is probably one of the main reasons why streamers have started refusing to take most of the films directly and wait for the box office validation to acquire them. Saiyaara, meanwhile, has been a box office breakout of the year. Made on a medium-range budget of around 50 crores, this Yash Raj Films production stunned the trade with its phenomenal box office run. The movie finished its theatrical journey with over 570 crores worldwide as the highest-grossing romantic Indian film of all-time and one of the highest-grosser of the year. Stay tuned...

Jolly LLB Franchise Box Office Journey: Can Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi-led Jolly LLB 3 Outperform Its Predecessor?

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, September 17 - Over the year, Bollywood has produced multiple successful film franchises, including courtroom comedy drama Jolly LLB. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the Jolly LLB series has grown from a modest courtroom satire into one of the most reliable franchises. Well, the fan favourite franchise has returned with the third instalment with stacks higher than before. Both the Jollys, Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar, who headlined the first two films separately, have come together for Jolly LLB 3, which is scheduled to release on September 19. With less than 2 days to go before the release, the trade is anticipating it to repeat the success of the first two movies and is hopeful that it will take things a notch higher. Jolly LLB (2013) - Released in 2013, Jolly LLB featured Arshad Warsi in the lead alongside Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla, and Boman Irani. Made on a modest budget of around 15 crores, the film emerged as a surprise success thanks to its sharp satire on corruption in the legal system. At the box office, it grossed around 46 crore worldwide, including ₹43.75 crore from India, and drew close to 35 lakh footfalls. The film received praise for the direction and story, along with appreciation for the lead cast. Its impact was further amplified when it went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, establishing a solid foundation for a franchise. Saurabh Shukla, who has been a major reason behind the franchise's success, won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor. Jolly LLB 2 (2017) – Star Power Takes The Franchise To New Highs - The sequel arrived in 2017 with Akshay Kumar stepping into the role of the quirky lawyer, replacing Arshad. The results were phenomenal as Jolly LLB 2 collected superb around 197 crore worldwide gross, out of which 162.50 crore came from India, while footfalls rose more than 3x to nearly 1.20 crore. This massive jump in both revenue and audience turnout showed the difference that star power could make, transforming the series from a small hit into a full-fledged blockbuster franchise. It also won multiple awards at different awards shows. Can Both Jollys Take Jolly LLB 3 Past Its Predecessor - As said, the stakes are higher than before, and with both Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar coming together for the first time in the series, expectations are running high for Jolly LLB 3. The first two films combined have already amassed around 250 crore worldwide with over 1.50 crore footfalls, proving the franchise's strong box office pull. If the third instalment successfully blends its signature mix of satire, courtroom drama, and entertainment, it has every chance to surpass the benchmark set by Jolly LLB 2 and solidify Jolly LLB as one of Bollywood's most enduring courtroom sagas. The franchise films have seen a higher ratio of failure than success this year, but the trade is optimistic about Jolly LLB 3. Stay tuned...

Teja Sajja's Hanuman Vs Mirai Box Office: Opening Weekend Box Office Comparison

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, September 16 — Telugu cinema's young sensation Teja Sajja has been in some hot form at the box office after delivering two back-to-back big openers in the pan-India space, with Hanuman and his latest outing Mirai. Both films have witnessed excellent worldwide collections during their respective opening weekends. Interestingly, both films have performed neck to neck in the opening weekend in terms of worldwide collection. Directed by Prasanth Varma, Hanuman grossed approximately 72.50 crores worldwide in its opening weekend last year. Out of this,₹47 crores came from the Indian market, with the film performing strongly across Telugu states and making a solid dent in Hindi circuits as well. On the other hand, Mirai has managed to keep the momentum intact for Teja Sajja, recording around 71.50 crores worldwide in just three days. Interestingly, its India gross stands at around 52.50 crores, which is significantly higher than Hanuman's domestic haul. While Hanuman edged ahead globally due to overseas contributions, Mirai has shown a stronger hold in India. The close race between the two films highlights Teja Sajja's growing box office pull and his ability to draw audiences across regions. Though the people may argue over the similarities between the two films, it is hard to look away from the perfect choices the actor has made with these blockbusters. With both films finding success, Teja Sajja has firmly established himself as one of the most bankable young stars in Telugu cinema. The actor's next film has already started making noise, even without any official announcement. Kochi, September 15 – Kalyani Priyadarshan's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra still has to run few more steps to become the biggest Malayalam grosser, but that historic milestone, it has emerged as the number 1 Mollywood film of all-time on the online ticketing platform BookMyShow. The superhero movie continues to set new milestones at the box office, and topping BMS sales is one of them. The fantasy epic has officially become the number one Malayalam film in terms of tickets sold, surpassing some of the biggest industry blockbusters. According to data by Filmy View, Lokah has sold a whopping 4.51 million tickets (and still running strong), edging past superstar Mohanlal's Thudarum, which also recorded 4.51 million tickets but has now settled its run. With this, Lokah has claimed the top spot, rewriting the history books for Malayalam cinema on the platform. Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi Struggles To Reach 100 Crore Worldwide

BY SACNILK

Chennai, September 15 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's psychological action thriller Madharaasi was released amid decent hype, but it surprised everyone by opening to better-than-expected collection at the worldwide box office. However, things haven't gone as planned since then for the movie. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Madharaasi had a good opening weekend worldwide with approximately 62 crores. At that point, the movie looked like a sure-shot blockbuster, but after the opening weekend, the pace had slowed down, as the movie had been struggling to reach 100 crores globally. In the second weekend, the maiden collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Murugadoss has managed to gross only 10-11 crores worldwide, dropping by a huge over 80% from the first frame. The film's total collection through the second frame (10 days) is around 91 crores gross, including around 67 crores in India. Madharaasi will still be able to cross 100 crores worldwide, but it will take a lot of effort for the film to reach there. A milestone, which looked inevitable at one point, has become a mountain to climb. The early word of mouth suggested a positive reception, but the sharp downward trend has dampened the momentum. Much now depends on whether the film can stabilise during the weekdays and attract audiences to go beyond the century mark. Stay tuned...

Top Bollywood Films Post-Pandemic Footfalls Ranking: Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan Leads As Six Movies Top 3 Crore Admits

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, September 14 – The post-pandemic era has been a rollercoaster for Bollywood, with the industry witnessing both unprecedented highs and major setbacks. The box office dynamics in this age and era have changed drastically, where the brand value doesn't guarantee success. However, in the post-pandemic world, Bollywood has reached new highs, not just once, but on many occasions, with record collections, and those films have managed to pull massive footfalls, reaffirming the enduring charm of the big screen. According to the estimates, six Bollywood blockbusters have managed to breach the coveted 3 crore footfalls mark since cinemas reopened in late 2021, proving that audiences are still willing to flock to theatres when offered the right blend of entertainment, star power, and emotion. Topping the list is Shah Rukh Khan's action phenomenon Jawan, which stands tall with 3.80 crore admissions, making it the most-watched Bollywood film of the post-pandemic period. The film's pan-India appeal, coupled with Atlee's mass entertainer packaging, made it a cultural event across the country. Not far behind is SRK's comeback film Pathaan, which kick-started the revival wave for Hindi cinema in early 2023. Sunny Deol's Gadar 2, fueled by nostalgia and patriotic fervour, follows closely with over 3.40 crore admissions, proving that emotional connect remains as powerful as ever. Ranbir Kapoor's intense action drama Animal registered over 3 crore admissions, marking it as a remarkable run for an A-rated film in India. Shraddha Kapoor's horror-comedy Stree 2 and Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava were among the biggest surprises in recent times as they managed to top 3 crore admissions each in India. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule remains the biggest blockbuster in Hindi with an estimated 3.90 crores tickets sold. Top Bollywood Films' Theatrical Performance In Post-Covid Era (Est.) Mirai 2 Days Box Office: Teja Sajja Delivers Big Again

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, September 14 – After the monumental success of HanuMan last year, many debated if actor Teja Sajja could deliver the same success again, as trade believed that the success of HanuMan was associated with its theme, which is rooted in Indian history. The young, unbothered about the chatter, started working on his next film Mirai silently, and putting all the debates to rest, the film has opened to a huge collection at the worldwide box office. The sci-fi action entertainer, directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, has resonated with audiences across the Telugu states and beyond. Backed by strong pre-release buzz and positive word of mouth, Mirai witnessed a fantastic opening of around 23.50 crores worldwide, which is the biggest for Teja Sajja, with packed shows in major centres. On its second day, the film rose above the pre-release buzz and showed the power of word of mouth as it delivered growth, which is not a regular thing in Telugu cinema. As per early estimates, the film has minted over 24 crores gross worldwide on day 2, pushing the 2-day total to over 47 crores, which is an excellent collection for the talent involved. The film's youthful concept, high-quality visuals, and engaging action sequences have made it a hot favourite among younger audiences, while family crowds, too, are turning up in large numbers to experience the divine touch of it. With two back-to-back box office successes, Teja Sajja is rapidly rising as one of Tollywood's most bankable young stars. While many people will still associate Mirai's success with its theme, which is similar to Hanuman's, Teja Sajja's ability to blend unique scripts with commercial appeal should be applauded. The actor's script selection has not only won him a loyal fan following but also positioned him as a promising force in the industry. As Mirai continues its triumphant run, all eyes are now on where the film will land in the all-time charts and whether Teja Sajja can replicate the historic success of HanuMan. Stay tuned...
