Kochi, March 28 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan has shattered records to score the biggest opening ever for a Malayalam movie by a margin of more than three times. The previous biggest opener was Mohanlal's Marakkar with 20 crore gross worldwide. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan received mixed reviews, but despite that, it was in its full glory on the opening day. In India, the film grossed around 24.50 crores, including around 14 crores gross in the home state, Kerala. It has beaten Thalapathy Vijay's Leo (12+ crore gross) to score the biggest opening day in the state. ## While the domestic opening was gigantic, L2 also stunned the trade by grossing a mammoth $5 million (43+ crores gross), which is the biggest Malayalam opening and bigger than any Bollywood film at the overseas box office. In the United Kingdom, the movie posted the biggest opening day ever for an Indian film with £628K (7 crore).## With the worldwide opening of 67.50 crores gross globally, Empuraan has now also the biggest opening weekend for a Malayalam title globally. Mumbai, March 27 - The highest-grossing animated movie of all time and the biggest grosser ever in a single market, China's mega box office blockbuster Ne Zha 2 is all set to hit the Indian cinemas this April via Warner Bros. Pictures. ## The animated fantasy action adventure film will be released on April 25, almost three months after the original release on January 29. Directed by Jiaozi, Ne Zha 2 has been a box office storm ever since its release to become the first animated title to gross $2+ billion globally. ## Ne Zha 2 has grossed $2.10+ billion at the worldwide box office so far, including $2.07 billion in China alone. Mumbai, March 24 - Superstar Mohanlal's much-anticipated action thriller L2: Empuraan continues to wreak havoc in the advance bookings, re-writing records for Malayalam cinema. It has already become the biggest Malayalam opener with pre-sales only but there is more to come. ## The pre-sales of Empuraan on the opening day are 35+ crores, and the same has crossed 50 crores gross for the entire opening weekend at the worldwide box office, with 3 days still left for the release. It has become the first Malayalam movie to hit 50 crores in sales before its release. ## At the overseas box office, Empuraan's pre-sales gross is nearing $4 million (30+ crore gross) while domestic sales are 23+ crore gross. Interestingly, the movie has already recorded the biggest collection in many countries for a Malayalam film. In Germany, Empuraan's advance sales have crossed the lifetime collection of the recent mega blockbuster Pushpa 2 which is remarkable. ## With still 3 days left, the movie is heading towards 70 crore bookings for the weekend and 40-45 crore gross for the first day globally. The movie is guaranteed to open with 50+ crores gross worldwide, a milestone no one saw coming. Mumbai, March 22 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted action drama Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire was re-released on March 21 and it did fantastic business at the domestic box office. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film was originally released in December 2023. ## Salaar: Ceasfire re-released without any special occasion, an unusual Telugu thing. On its first day, the film grossed approximately 3 crore in India, which is the biggest re-release opener for a Prabhas-starrer. It wasn't released in North India, otherwise, the opening could have been higher. ## The advance booking gross of Salaar: Ceasefire was one of the highest for an Indian title which led the foundation of a very good opening. The movie was expected to score ever higher opening but lack of release in North probably reduced its potential, though the numbers are still fantastic and easily the biggest opening for a re-release title in India in 2025. ## During its original run, the action blockbuster scored approximately 618 crores at the worldwide box office, including 488 crores in India. Kochi, March 22 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan has shattered many records even before the first show begins. The movie has been creating a sensation ever since the advance booking opened in India and worldwide and this has led it to create records. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan pre-sales have crossed 10 crore gross in India for the opening day (including fan shows) while worldwide sales are nearing 30 crore gross. With this, it has become the biggest Malayalam opener of all time worldwide with pre-sales only. ## The previous biggest Mollywood opener was Mohanlal's Marakkar (20+ crores gross) and Empuraan is already 10 crores more with still 5 days left for the release. The booking trend indicates the film to open with 50+ crores gross worldwide which looked unthinkable before for a small film industry like Mollywood. ## Empuraan is sure to become the biggest Malayalam grosser of all time, by beating Manjummal Boys (241 crores gross). Mumbai, March 21 - Vicky Kaushal-fronted historical action drama Chhaava is doing excellent business at the box office. Based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Chhaava is already the highest-grossing Indian film of the year with a worldwide collection of around 775 crores gross. ## Chhaava is currently running in its 6th week and nearing 800 crores gross collection. The movie will run in theatres for a minimum of 8 weeks before it is made available on OTT, however, even before the deadline, it has been hit by massive piracy and the investigation has begun for the same. ## According to the reports, Chhaava's HD prints have been leaked online and the Mumbai Police is said to have registered a case in this matter. The movie was deliberately leaked online through pirated sites on more than 1800 digital links. This isn't the first time a Bollywood film has leaked before its official digital release as there have been many such cases in the past. ## It is said that producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films anticipated this illegal activity and reportedly hired an anti-piracy agency to handle this matter legally. The South Cyber ​​Cell has reportedly registered a case under sections 316 (2) and 308 (3) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), sections 51, 63 and 65 (A) of the Copyright Act, sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology (IT) Act.## Chhaava is directed by Laxman Utekar and it stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj alongside Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb.
