Mumbai, February 13 - Vicky Kaushal reunited with director Laxman Utekar after the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke for the historical action drama Chhaava, based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in prominent roles along with others. ## Chhaava is one of the biggest Bollywood historical action drama films and is set to take possibly the biggest start in this genre. Slated to hit the big screens on February 14, the movie was censored with a U/A certificate with an approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes. ## Produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, Chhaava is expected to be released on over 3500 screens and the pre-sales for the same is fantastic, added by allegedly some share of self-bookings. Even without it, the bookings are easily the best for a Bollywood title of the year. ## As of 8 PM on February 13, the film has sold around 400K tickets worth over 11 crores gross collection for the opening day. The final sales can finish around 13 crores, setting the stage for a big opening. These sorts of pre-sales can drive the opening of close to 25 crores net which will put the film as number 1 in the historical genre. ## Chhaava is expected to perform strongly in the Maharastra region due to the regional feel and the pre-sales are also driven by this region. The opening of the film may differ depending on the performance in other parts of the country but at this point, it looks like a 23-25 crores net opener which is fantastic. ## The trade is expecting Chhaava to explode in Maharastra to emerge big success if word of mouth is positive. Mumbai, February 13 - Legendary director Christopher Nolan's epic sci-fi adventure Interstellar re-release has proved to be a masterstroke for Warner Bros. Pictures as the movie has become the highest-grossing Hollywood re-release grosser at the Indian box office. ## The film, starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, was re-released in Indian cinemas on February 7 for a limited period of just 7 days. This short run proved to be enough for the movie to beat the maverick director James Cameron's all-time great Titanic 3D re-release gross collection of 18 crores. ## In the 6 days so far, Interstellar has grossed approximately 18+ crores, making it the number 1 Hollywood repeat title in India. In its original release back in 2014, the film was a big success with a gross collection of around 42 crores or $6.85 million (without adjusting to inflation), according to Box Office Mojo. ## At the worldwide box office, Interstellar has grossed $759.4 million, including $681 million in its original run. Mumbai, February 13 - There is no stopping Sanam Teri Kasam which is re-writing records for an Indian film re-release at the domestic box office. It has beaten all but Tumbbad to become the second-biggest Indian re-release grosser domestically. ## Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, the heartbreaking romantic tale had a superb 6th day, earning approximately 2.50-2.60 crores net, pushing the total net collection to around 24.25+ crores (28.50+ crores gross) through Wednesday. It is looking to score around 27 crores net in the first week. ## Sanam Teri Kasam has become India's second biggest re-release grosser after last year's blockbuster Tumbbad which minted approximately 32 crores net collection. Los Angeles, February 12 - This Valentine's Day weekend is expected to shower love at the box office in the form of Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, the first superhero movie of the year. ## Directed by Julius Onah, the fourth instalment in the Captain America film series had its world premiere yesterday (local time) and the early reactions are coming in as mixed. However, the film is likely to fly at the box office according to the trade projections. ## The Hollywood trade is projecting Brave New World to open in the range of $80 million-$85 million over a 3-day Valentine's Day and about $90 million - $100 million over a 4-day Presidents Day weekend. It has emerged as the first Bollywood outright success of the year. ## After scoring a record 15.50 crores net in the opening weekend, the romantic drama showed a remarkable hold on Monday to score approximately 3.25 crores net. It was a disaster in its original run 9 years ago, in 2016. ## Re-released amidst almost zero promotion at the start of Valentine's Day week on February 7, Sanam Teri Kasam stunned the trade with its opening weekend collection of approximately 15.50 crores net which is easily the biggest weekend for a Bollywood re-release title. ## On Monday, the film was outrightly the number one title at the Bollywood box office with approximately 3-3.25 crores net collection, beating the combined Monday total of Sky Force, Deva, Badass Ravikumar, and Loveyapa. With this, the total re-release collection of Sanam Teri Kasam after just 4 days is 18.50+ crores net which is more than double the film's lifetime original collection. ## The film will continue to score well throughout the Valentine's Day week as it might reach 27-30 crores net collection in the first week. Chennai, February 9 - Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi has had a good first weekend at the domestic box office, however, it failed to keep up the momentum after the big opening due to mixed word of mouth and remake factor. ## On its first Sunday (4th day), the movie scored more or less the same as on Saturday as early estimates suggest the collection to be around 15 crores gross, including around 13 crores gross in the home state, Tamil Nadu. The total 4-day weekend collection is around 72+ crores domestically, including 61+ crores in Tamil Nadu, as per estimates. ## The pre-sales of the movie for Monday are pretty average which was expected given the reception from audiences. It needs to be seen how strong the walk-ins will be as the film needs to have a good hold during the weekdays to have long and emerge a success.## Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya's Telugu romantic action drama Thandel has a fantastic and easily the biggest opening weekend for the actor. As per the estimates, the film has scored a decent jump on Sunday, especially in Telugu states which is not a regular case with Telugu titles. ## According to estimates, Thandel is expected to score around 14-15 crores gross collection domestically, including 12-13 crores gross in Telugu states. With this, the total domestic opening weekend of the movie is around 42 crores gross which is superb. ## The word of mouth for the movie is on the positive side which should lead to good hold during the weekdays. Hyderabad, February 8 - Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi's romantic action drama Thandel is proving to be a success story at the box office. The movie is creating a stir and living up to the pre-release hype with an excellent collection all over. ## Thandel delivered the career-best opening for Naga Chaitanya and on its second day, the movie has an excellent hold with a drop of just around 10% which is normal for a Telugu title. According to early estimates, the Chandoo Modenti's directorial earns in the range of 12-13 crores gross on Saturday. ## The fantastic second-day hold pushes the total collection of Thandel to 25+ crores gross domestically and the 3-day opening weekend can rise to 37-38+ crores gross which is a fantastic collection. The word of mouth is okay and the film is likely to do well during the weekdays which remains to be seen. ## Meanwhile, Himesh Reshmiyan's action comedy Badass Ravikumar is witnessing a drop on the second day after a good first-day collection of over 2.50 crores net. Chennai, February 8 - Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi saw a harsh drop of over 60% on its second day at the domestic box office but there was an upward trend on Saturday, a third day which was expected. However, the big jump is still missing. ## In the home state, Tamil Nadu, the movie managed to score a double-digit collection on Friday and according to early estimates, it is expected to gross 10.50-11.50 crores on Saturday with around a 10% jump in the state. This takes the movie's total collection to around 46 crores in the state. ## Apart from Tamil Nadu, Vidaamuyarchi is doing okay in the rest of the domestic market as there wasn't any drop in collection today. Overall, the film is expected to gross 13-14 crores domestically on its third day, pushing the total collection to around 57+ crores gross in 3 days. ## Vidaamuyarchi has one more day to score before entering the make-or-break weekdays.
