Hyderabad, December 26 - Allu Arjun's mega-blockbuster Pushpa 2 - The Rule continues dismantling the box office and becomes the first movie to score 100 crores net collection in the third week in Hindi. The film remained the first choice of moviegoers this past week despite the arrival of a new film. ## Directed by Sukumar, the action drama minted approximately 103+ crores net collection, beating Stree 2 to become the biggest third-week grosser in Hindi. The Christmas holiday pushed the third week past 100 crores net and it remained solid during the weekdays.## The third week saw the movie topping 700 crores net in Hindi, becoming the first film to achieve the feat. Mumbai, December 25 - Varun Dhawan's mass action entertainer Baby John is the last big Bollywood release of 2024 and it has taken a decent opening at the box office with double-digit numbers. ## The opening of Baby John got a push due to the Christmas holiday, however, at the same time, it was affected by strong holdovers like Pushpa 2 and Mufasa as early estimates suggest a 12-12.50 crore net opening for Varun Dhawan-starrer.## The film opened on the projected lines, however, being a mass movie and a holiday release, Baby John was expected to open much higher which didn't happen. The initial word of mouth seems to be mixed which might not be enough given the strong competition it has. ## Allu Arjun's mega-blockbuster Pushpa 2 - The Rule once again remained the first choice in Hindi despite being in its third week and against a direct new Bollywood film. It is running riot at the moment with no sign of slowing down anytime soon. ## On its 3rd Wednesday (21st day), Pushpa 2 scored an estimated 14-16 crores net collection in Hindi, jumping around 30% from Tuesday which is sensational. With this, the total collection of the film has reached 715+ crores net in the dubbed version and the 800 crores net club looks well within the reach that is no less than a dream. ## Meanwhile, another film of the day is Kichcha Sudeep's action thriller Max which has taken the biggest opening of 2024 for a Kannada movie. Mumbai, December 24 - Disney's animated adventure film Mufasa: The Lion King is heading towards 100 crores gross collection at the Indian box office. The film has weathered Pushpa 2 - The Rule Storm and has performed better than expected. ## Mufasa, the prequel to 2019's The Lion King, was expected to do well in India due to the franchise's popularity and the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu. However, the box office carnage of Pushpa 2 threatened Mufasa's prospects, which didn't happen. ## In 7 days so far, Mufasa has grossed around 88 crores (including 3D charges) in India which is a very good collection. It performed brilliantly on Christmas Day (December 25) and Boxing Day. The film is likely to enter the 100 crores gross club by Saturday. ## The Lion King grossed over 190 crores in collection in India in 2019. Mufasa, on the other hand, looks like will fall short of those numbers, however, it can go nearer to The Lion King, depending on how it performs during the weekdays and New Year week. ## Mufasa will be the third Hollywood title of 2024 to enter the 100 crores gross club at the Indian box office after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (134+ crores gross) and Deadpool & Wolverine (169+ crores gross). Hyderabad, December 23 - Pushpa 2 has a fantastic third weekend with close to 100 crores gross and also topped 1500 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office, becoming only the third Indian movie of all time to achieve the feat. ## At the end of the third weekend, the Allu Arjun-fronted action drama has scored approximately 1506 crores gross, including around 1267 crores gross collection at the Indian box office. It is currently the second biggest grosser in India, behind Baahubali 2 (1416 crores), however, in terms of the net collection, Pushpa 2 is the number 1 film. ## The contribution from the dubbed Hindi version has been more than 50% of the total collection of Pushpa 2. In Hindi, the film has grossed around 925 crores worldwide, including over 800 crores at the Indian box office. It will cross 1000 crores gross soon. ## Pushpa 2 will be eyeing to finish its worldwide run as the second-biggest Indian grosser ever. It needs another around 280 crores gross to pip Baahubali 2 (1788 crores) from the second spot. Mumbai, December 23 - Disney's animated adventure drama Mufasa: The Lion King was the number 1 movie at the worldwide box office this past weekend, however, it failed to match the high expectations and largely underperformed at the domestic and overseas box office. ## The Barry Jenkins' directorial prequel to The Lion King (2019) grossed just $35 million in its domestic (North America) opening weekend, well behind the industry's projection of $50+ million. Overseas also, the film didn't leave up to the expectations at $87.2 million for a worldwide cume of $122.2 million.## While the movie topped the global box office, it landed far behind pre-release expectations of $130 million overseas and $180 million globally. China was the biggest market for Mufasa with $7.8 million, followed by France with $7.7 million, and Mexico with $7.1 million. ## Meanwhile, the movie did well at the Indian box office, benefitting from the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu. In its 3-day opening weekend, the film grossed approximately 46 crores (including 3D charges). The original The Lion King grossed 65+ crores in India in its first weekend. ## Mufasa now hopes to regain the lost ground during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Mumbai, December 21 - SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster Baahubali 2 starring Prabhas, finally has a company in the 1000 crores net club as Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule joined the lonely leader after more than 7 years. ## The closest to reach Baahubali 2 previously was Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2 (860 crores net) and Pushpa 2 not only surpassed that but went on to join the former, taking just 16 days as the fastest film to achieve this rare box office milestone. ## Just like Baahubali 2, the contribution from the dubbed Hindi version has more than 50% in Pushpa 2's overall collection. In 16 days so far, the movie has minted approximately 630+ crores net collection in Hindi out of 1000+ crores net total. It is also the biggest Hindi grosser of all time and the first to breach the 600 crores mark. ## The original Telugu version of Pushpa 2 is nearing the 300 crores mark while the dubbed Tamil version is the third most contributor with around 53 crores net. The Malayalam and Kannada versions have scored approximately 21+ crores net so far. ## Pushpa 2 will become the biggest grosser in India in terms of net collection by today or tomorrow as BB2 has scored 1030 crores net collection. Bengaluru, December 20 - Amid Pushpa 2 - The Rule's rampage at the box office, the new pre-Christmas 2024 weekend Indian releases are off to a good start. Director Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai Part - 2, Upendra's UI, and Malayalam title Marco among others hit the screens on December 20. ## Viduthalai Part 2 was the biggest opener among the new Indian titles and it has opened almost double the first movie. According to the early estimates, the crime thriller grossed an estimated 8 crores, including around 6.50 crores in Tamil Nadu on its opening day.## Kannada star and director Upendra's dystopian science fictional action UI has exceeded expectations and taken the biggest opening of 2024 for a Kannada title. Per estimates, the film has grossed in the range of 7.50-8 crores, which includes around 80 lakh in the Telugu version, on its first day.## The Malayalam A-rated action thriller, Marco starring Unni Mukundan, is another film of the day which performed well above expectations. Mumbai, December 20 - Mega blockbuster Pushpa 2 - The Rule shattered records in the second week in Hindi by a long margin after creating a sensation in the opening week in which it minted a record 425 crores net collection. ## The Allu Arjun-starrer action drama scored almost 200 crores net in the second week, comfortably beating the long-standing record of SS Rajamouli's directorial Baahubali 2 (143.25 crores net). During the second week, Pushpa 2 also became the biggest Hindi grosser by beating Stree 2 (598 crores net). ## Directed by Sukumar, the movie has minted approximately 621 crores net collection, including a historic 200+ crores net collection from Mumbai city alone. Chennai, December 20 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the highest-grossing South Indian film and the 10th biggest Indian grosser at the Chinese box office. The film has exceeded expectations in the Mainland and is crawling towards the 100 crore mark. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has grossed approximately 85.75 crores ($10.12 million) through the third Thursday (21 days) in China, outgrossing the lifetime total of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (80.50 crores gross) to become the biggest South Indian grosser there. ## The film's pace at the box office has slowed, so it needs to be seen if it goes on to touch the 100 crore mark in China. If it gets there, it will become the 9th biggest Indian grosser by outgrossing Toilet Ek Prem Katha (100+ crores gross). Aamir Khan's Dangal sits on the top with a mammoth 1300+ crores gross, a record which might never be broken. ## Meanwhile, Maharaja is nearing 200 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office.
