Los Angeles, December 2—The Hollywood box office is on fire. Americans spent over $400 million in the last five days, an all-time record for the Thanksgiving weekend where Disney's Moana 2, Universal Pictures' Wicked and Paramount's Gladiator II were the chief architect of it. ## Moana 2, a sequel to Disney's near $700 million worldwide grosser, was in the mood to sweep the domestic box office this past weekend. The film grossed a tsunamic $225 million over 5-days, a Thanksgiving record and the biggest opening for an animated title. ## Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-led Wicked was the second-best movie during the same frame, which was its second weekend with a gigantic $119.5 million, helping its total domestic cume to reach $262 million in 10 days. Ridley Scott's R-rated epic Gladiator 2 came third with $44 million over 5-days Thanksgiving weekend. ## The combined telly of Moana 2, Wicked, and Gladiator of $387+ million was more than enough to script the biggest-ever Thanksgiving weekend at the North American box office, surpassing 2018's Thanksgiving weekend of $315 million singlehandedly.## It wasn't just about only three aforementioned movies, as the total 5-day holiday weekend this year was approximately $425+ million, including Red One ($13 million), and a few other movies, at the US box office. Los Angeles, December 1 - Dinsey's animated musical adventure film Moana puts itself in the history book with the record-breaking opening at the domestic and worldwide box office over a 5-day Thanksgiving weekend. ## The Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson voiced blockbuster sequel has beaten Frozen 2 ($358 million) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($375.6 million) to score the biggest worldwide opening for an animated title after a massive $389.2 million over 5-day weekend. ## Moana 2 grossed a gigantic $225.2 million over the 5-day biggest Thanksgiving weekend of all time and the biggest opening of 2024 at the domestic (North America) box office. Overseas, the film scored a huge $164 million from 48 overseas markets. ## France was the biggest overseas market for Moana 2 with $18.8 million opening weekend, followed by the UK with $15.5 million, and Mexico at $11.1 million. Chennai, December 1 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the 15th highest-grossing Indian movie at the Chinese box office after a very good opening weekend which saw the film crossing the $3 million mark there. ## After scoring $2.30 million (19.50 crores gross) in the first 2 days (including premieres), Maharaja scored approximately 900K (7.50 crores gross) on Sunday, pushing the total collection to around $3.2 million (27 crores) in the opening weekend. ## With $3.2 million, Maharaja has become the 15th highest-grossing Indian movie in China (in terms of dollars) while in Indian currency, it has become the 13th biggest grosser there by beating Drishyam (27 crore gross), Kaabil (23.50 crores gross), and 102 Not Out (22.50 crores gross). ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja's next target is Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan which grossed approximately 60 crores in China. If it manages to hold well during the working day, the movie can get close to that target which will be a good result. ## The total worldwide collection of Maharaja is now around 133 crores gross and is heading towards the 150 crores mark. Mumbai, December 1 - After a dull couple of months post-Stree 2's mega success in August, the festival of Diwali brought good luck for the Bollywood film industry in November, thanks to the two of the most-waited films - Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again. ## Rohit Shetty's directorial cop action drama Singham 3, starring Ajay Devgn, was the bigger film. However, it was Kartik Aaryan's horror comedy that rocked the show and won the clash with a superb collection in India and worldwide. SA though wasn't too far and did reasonably well at the box office.## Even after 4 weeks of release, both films doing well on a day-wise basis at the domestic box office, and thanks to that, their combined net collection has topped 500 crores making it the biggest Diwali ever at the Indian box office. ## Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has emerged as a super hit and through the 5th Saturday (30th day), it has minted approximately 255+ crores net collection. On the other hand, Singham Again is an average-to-hit venture with around 245 crores net collection in the same number of days. ## As reported earlier, BB3 is the biggest grosser for Kartik Aaryan as well as for director Anees Bazmee and the rest of the main cast. Los Angeles, November 30 - A record-breaking Thanksgiving weekend is ongoing at the North American box office with the top 3 films - Moana 2, Wicked and Gladiator 2 going all out for the big money. Chennai, November 30 - Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan has taken a giant step towards becoming the next big star in Tamil cinema with his latest war action drama film Amaran which has emerged as the biggest Tamil blockbuster of the year and one of the biggest in recent times. ## Released on October 31, the Rajkumar Periasamy's directorial has bossed the box office, grossing approximately 325 crores worldwide in 30 days so far. It is the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## Amaran has benefitted from the extended theatrical window which has been normalized to just 4 weeks by the industry. The blockbuster run of the film prompted the makers to extend the window by 1 more week and it will now arrive after 35 days which is the first for a recent Tamil title. ## On Saturday (November 30), Netflix announced that Amaran would start streaming from December 5, which is 35 days after the theatrical release. Chennai, November 30 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja is having a fantastic time at the Chinese box office and has crossed 20 crore gross mark in just 2 days (including premieres) and is heading towards a very good opening weekend collection. ## After grossing $633K+ (5.40 crores gross) in the premieres, followed by $550K (4.60 crores gross) on the first day, the Nithilan Saminathan's directorial venture breached the million dollar mark on Saturday (2nd day), thanks the positive word of mouth there. ## According to the local box office platform ENT Group, Maharaja has grossed approximately $1.10 million (9.30 crores gross) on its second day, pushing the total collection to around $2.30 million (19.50 crores gross) at the Chinese box office in 2 days. It has crossed the 20 crore mark including pre-sales for tomorrow.## The film sold over 200K tickets on Saturday and the total admissions so far are 420K+ which is the highest for an Indian title there post the Covid-19 pandemic. Chennai, November 29 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has a $500K+ opening day as total collection crossed $1 million (including premieres) at the China box office. This is the first Indian movie in recent times to cross this particular milestone in China. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja minted approximately 5.40 crores gross ($635K or ¥4.6 million) in the premieres. It had a full-fledged release on November 29 and the film grossed $550K+ (4.65 crores gross) on its first day, according to the local box office website, ENT Group. ## The total collection of Maharaja is $1.18 million (10 crores gross). The advances for tomorrow (Saturday) are good which should lead to another good day. The movie also touched 100K admissions on the first day with total footfalls are around 220K so far. ## Including the China collection, Maharaja has crossed 116 crores gross worldwide and depending on how films perform in the coming day there, the movie has a chance to achieve new milestones. Chennai, November 28 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja could be up for rich rewards at the China box office after the film off to an impressive start in the premieres there. The movie is scheduled for a full-fledged release on November 29. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja grossed approximately $630K (5.40 crores) in the premieres and sold approximately 118K tickets. The advance booking for the opening day is 100K with 18K tickets sold over 26.8K showings. ## There has been a shortage of Indian titles at the Chinese box office in recent times and those which got released during this period failed to make a mark. Maharaja, with a promising response in the premieres, has a chance to make it big there. ## Maharaja was originally released in June this year and turned out to be a big blockbuster at the worldwide box office with over 105 crores gross collection.
