Los Angeles, September 5 - Tom Cruise's biggest film is now the 5th highest-grossing film of all time in the history of the North American box office. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the action thriller has topped $700 million as well as crossed Marvel Studios' Black Panther as the fifth biggest North American grosser. ## According to Variety, "Top Gun 2" returned to the top of box office charts over Labor Day weekend, adding $7.9 million between Friday and Monday and bringing ticket sales to $701 million. It is now ahead of the Marvel blockbuster "Black Panther's" $700.4 million and is only the 6th film ever to top $700 million at the North American box office. ## According to Paramount, the sequel to Cruise's 1986 blockbuster film is the only film to ever be No. 1 at the domestic box office for both Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays.## "It's without a doubt, that 'Top Gun: Maverick' is a true cultural touchstone embodying the power of the cinematic experience. Mumbai, September 3 - The Bollywood film industry is having some nervy moments ahead of the big release of director Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. The action thriller is already the highest-grossing film of the year and Cruise's career, and now, it has broken the record upon its digital release. ## According to Paramount Home Entertainment (via Variety), "Top Gun Maverick" has become the best-selling digital movie in its first week of availability in the USA. The movie was released on digital on August 23, 2022, also is already one of the top 20 best-selling digital releases in history after being available for one week. The company, however, didn't disclose its digital sales number. ## Variety reports that the digital release of the film was the top-selling item on Amazon in the U.S. across every category on the day of its release. Hyderabad, September 3 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's all-time blockbuster Jalsa returned to the big screen to celebrate his birthday. The special shows of Trivikram Srinivas-directed action comedy were arranged across Telugu states and international locations on September 1 and 2.## "Jalsa" was re-released on over 500 shows worldwide, which is an all-time record for an Indian movie as far as the special shows are concerned. The movie also did exceptionally well at the box office and brought in higher numbers than most of the new releases opening day numbers. ## The movie collected approx. 2.60 crores gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, including approx. 1.26 crores from the Nizam area while the rest of India's collection of the movie is around 20 lakhs. These are all-time record collections for an Indian movie's re-release for one-day. Overseas, "Jalsa" scored approx. 30 lakh ($37600) from the USA box office from 26 locations while from 5 locations in Australia, it collected approx. 6 lakh (A$10960). ## The total worldwide collection of the film is around 3.20 crores gross, and the entire collection will be used for charity. Hyderabad, September 1 - Director Puri Jagannadh's long-awaited film Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda, has proved to be a costly affair for the entire team as he turned out to be a massive disappointment at the box office. ## The sports action drama film was expected to bring a lot of money to the producers and distributors, but things didn't go as per the makers' wish as the distributors will face, at least, a 70% loss from the total investment of around 90 crores worldwide. It is reported that the distributors are in big shock as they invested a lot of money in the hope that it will give them the best return, which is not going to happen. ## However, in a gloomy time for the distributors, director Puri Jagannadh is once again coming to their rescue and taking full responsibility for the film's failure. As per the industry insiders, Puri Jagannadh will compensate Liger distributors and buyers and will meet them in the coming days. ## This is a very nice gesture by the filmmaker who is a well-respected person in the Telugu film industry. He has rescued his distributors in the past as well and now, he is going to do the same. Puri Jagannadh has delivered some of the biggest Telugu blockbusters, and he will be hoping to repeat the same with his next film "JGM", which is also with VD. ## "Liger", produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects, has so far grossed approx. 55 crores worldwide, even after taking the biggest opening for VD's career. Hyderabad, August 31 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's mystery action-adventure film Karthikeya 2 has entered the coveted 100 crores gross club at the worldwide box office with today's collection, becomes only the 4th Telugu movie of 2022 to achieve the milestone after Bheemla Nayan, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, and RRR. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Karthikeya 2" has had trouble getting released in theaters but it overcame all the challenges to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema. For a medium-range Telugu movie, "Karthikeya 2" is only the second film of all time in Tollywood cinema to reach the 100 crores mark after Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's "Geetha Govindam". ## However, unlike "Geetha Govindam", K2 has had simultaneous Hindi release with the Telugu version and it has hugely benefitted from the Hindi version with a gross collection of approx. 30 crores, in addition to approx. 58 crores in the Telugu version at the domestic box office. Chennai, August 30 - Tamil star Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam has performed exceptionally well at the box office, as a result, it has raced past the 100 crores mark worldwide. Directed by Mithran R Jawahar, the romantic comedy-drama film has become the first for Dhanush to achieve this box office milestone. ## "Thiruchitrambalam" scored a fantastic 50.45 crores in the opening week and continues to mint money in the second week as well, taking a total net collection to 65.47 crores after 12 days. The movie has been excellent in the international markets too, grossing approx. 23 crores, for worldwide cum total to approx. 101 crores. ## The film has overtaken Dhanush's Bollywood debut film "Raanjhanaa", which was previously the highest-grossing film of his career with approx. 94 crores worldwide.
