Bengaluru, July 9 - The heartwarming tale between a man and a dog in a little movie called "777 Charlie" is now worth Rs. 100 crores. ## The Rakshit Shetty-starrer adventure comedy-drama film was an underdog at the box office before its release on June 10 but packed a solid punch once it came out in cinemas. Directed by Kiranraj K., "777 Charlie" has crossed the 100 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office on its 30th day and becomes the second Kannada movie of 2022 to do so. ## The film never scored over-the-top collection at any point in its run so far but managed to put up a consistent show at the box office as it never went off track, resulting in a mega-blockbuster performance. It is, as said before, one of the most profitable Kannada movies of all time. ## After "KGF: Chapter 2" in April, "777 Charlie" was another Kannada movie that had a Pan India release. While "KGF 2" performed extraordinarily in other languages apart from the original Kannada version, the Rakshit Shetty-starrer mainly scored in the Kannada version with over 65 crores net. Los Angeles, July 9 - Chris Hemsworth and Natali Portman's Thor: Love and Thunder's domestic box office opening has once again proved that the critics' reviews hardly matter when it comes to the Marvel movie. ## The superhero movie, directed by Taika Waititi, is one of the lowest MCU-rated movies of all time with a critics' score of 68% from 305 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing. However, it seems that the low critics' rating is only for the record book as the movie took a flying start of $29 million from its domestic (North America) Thursday preview screens (which started at 3 pm). ## The thundering opening of "Thor 4" is one of the biggest ever for an MCU title. Mumbai, July 7 - The Indian box office is thriving to new heights in 2022 after being bettered by the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The first half of 2022 has reached and even surpassed the pre-covid levels, thanks to the mega-blockbusters RRR, and KGF: Chapter 2 along with Vikram, among others. ## In the first half of 2022 (January - June), films in India have collected over Rs 5,550 crore at the box office, up from Rs 4,715 crore in 2018, according to Gautam Jain, partner, Ormax Media, a media consulting firm (via Money Control). ## According to Gautam Jain, the first six months of 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels have been the highest ever, driven by the contribution from RRR and KGF 2. Indian box office collections in the first six months of 2019 had reached Rs 5,153 crore but dropped significantly in 2020 and 2021 due to the closure of cinemas. ## "Big-scale spectacles are getting audiences back to theatres. Also, franchises, especially big star-cast-led films, will become a necessity for filmmakers across languages. The creation of the universe of characters would take precedence over standalone films", Jain said, as per the report. ## Interestingly, nearly 35% of total domestic gross revenue has been generated by two films - RRR and KGF 2 - which grossed approx. 1910 crores combined. KGF 2 is currently the biggest Indian grosser of the year followed by RRR, and both the movies also helped in taking the contribution of films from the south to 50 percent of the overall revenue pie. ## According to Jain, in the first six months of 2022, the Hindi film industry recorded a share of 34 percent, Telugu 26 percent, and Tamil 16 percent. The top three industries in terms of box office contribution were followed by Kannada with 8 percent and Hollywood with 7 percent share. ## The Hindi language, even though has contributed 35% to total domestic revenue, it is still behind the 44% in the pre-pandemic year (2019), however, up from 27 percent in the two pandemic years put together (2020-21). There is also to be noted that 43% of the total Hindi collection is from the dubbed Hindi versions of South Indian films, mainly from RRR and KGF 2. ## It is understood that the second half of 2022 will belong to the Hindi film industry with films like Shamshera, Raksha Bandhan, Brahasmtra, Laal Singh Chaddha, Vikram Vedha, and Cirkus, among others. Los Angeles, July 7 - Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder, is all set to help deliver big at the worldwide box office, despite being rated one of the lowest Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks of all time by critics. ## The second MCU feature release of 2022 is currently tracking to debut with over $300 million at the worldwide box office. At the domestic (North America) box office, the superhero flick is projected to deliver over $100 million in its opening weekend, which will be the first time during the covid-19 pandemic when two back-to-back domestic weekends will see $100 million-plus openers after "Minions: The Rise of Gru". ## Directed by Taika Waititi, "Thor 4", according to box office pro is looking to earn between $135M-$165M in its opening domestic weekend. The opening weekend projection of the film is tracking ahead of its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok", which debuted with $122.7 million in November 2017. ## The box office projection of the 4th Thor installment is closer to the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($146.5 million in May 2017) and Captain Marvel ($153.4 million in March 2019). There is a real chance that "Thor 4" may beat both of these movies and take one of the biggest Marvel openings ever. ## There is a possibility that critics' reviews might impact those projections in the final hours before release. However, as seen in the past, Marvel movies have always been audience-friendly and overcome those reviews more often than not, and have delivered at the box office. Mumbai, July 6 - Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder is all set to hammer at the Indian box office from this Thursday. The movie, directed by Taika Waititi, is releasing a day earlier in India than the North American release, on July 7. It will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. ## Marvel has always been a huge movie brand in India, and in the recent past, the studios' films have taken huge openings at the Indian box office. "Thor: Love and Thunder" is also tracking to open big as the advance booking response has been very good so far. Till 5 PM on July 6, the advance booking gross collection of Thor 4 is 11 crores, which is expected to reach 15-16 crores by the end of the day. ## The 4th installment in the Thor franchise, however, is getting a slow response as compared to the previous Marvel movie, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness", which was released a couple in May this year. At the same, "Doctor Strange 2" advance booking was around 20 crores gross while the opening day collection was 36.30 crores gross for all languages. ## Looking at the advance booking of "Thor 4" so far, the movie is still very much on track to open around 20-22 crores net with a possibility of reaching 25 crores net if critics' reviews and word of mouth are positive. Mumbai, July 3 - Director Raj Mehta's Jugjugg Jeeyo has crossed the 100 crores mark at the worldwide box office, becoming only the fourth Bollywood movie of 2022 to do so. ## The family comedy-drama film is having an unlike other Bollywood films' run at the box office. It is, after the opening weekend, having a decent but consistent run at the domestic box office, scoring 61.44 crores net through the second Saturday (9 days). ## "Jug Jugg Jeeyo" is having a good run internationally as compared to the other movies. North America is leading its overseas charge with approx. $1.5 million, followed by Australia with $576K, and the UK with $286K.
