Mumbai, March 17 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has proved her worth at the box office in the past, but the success of her recently released "Gangubai Kathiawadi" has surprised the industry people. The biographical drama, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has crossed Rs. 100 crores net mark and is nearing Rs. 200 crores worldwide. ## Though there was no doubt on Alia's credibility, the industry was fearing due to the covid-19 pandemic. The buzz around the film wasn't strong before the release but once it was released in theaters on February 25th, the biz kept on building upon the strong WOM and becoming a box office hit.## Jayantilal Gada, who released the film under his company, PEN India Ltd., is ecstatic about the success of the film. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Gada said, "It's a very happy feeling that Gangubai Kathiawadi has crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark. Even overseas, it's doing well. We feel proud that PEN Studio backed this film. People didn't expect much from the film, particularly due to its subject". ## Dr. Gada added that he had confidence in Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has a very good track record at the box office. "I had confidence in Sanjay Leela Bhansali. And he had confidence in the film. He always makes great films without a doubt. So, we at PEN decided to bet on this venture".## After testing the success with Alia Bhatt-fronted, Dr. Gada is now gearing up for the release of SS Rajamouli-directed "RRR", which will also be released by PEN India Ltd. in the Hindi market. It is undoubtedly the biggest film for the company and Dr. Gada is hopeful that it will become a big hit. ## When asked if "RRR" can repeat the success of Rajamouli's last film and the all-time blockbuster "Baahubali - The Conclusion, the filmmaker said, "When Baahubali 2 did that sort of business, our life was different. People's lives have changed in these 2 years. Nevertheless, the film will generate even greater hype and craze than Baahubali, that's for sure. How huge that craze would be, we'll come to know on March 25. The WOM is spreading like fire as more screens and shows are getting day by day. ## From a limited release to now becoming a wide release across the country, it is trending like never seen before. The Kashmir Files is going strenth to strenth as the collection is not dropping even on weekdays. ## On the first day, The Kashmir Files earned 3.55 Cr India net, then the second day became bigger with 8.50 Cr. Mumbai, March 11 - Prabhas' long-awaited period romantic drama film "Radhe Shyam" has bombed at the Hindi box office. Despite the anticipation, the movie couldn't meet expectations and opened to nearly Rs. 2.10 crores on Friday from multiplexes. By adding single screens data, it earned around 4.50 Cr Hindi net. ## On the other hand, National award-winning filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" surprises at the box office. As per the early estimates, the film, based on true events, opens to Rs. 2.40 crores net from the multiplexes (including single screen, it earned around 3.30 Cr), despite the far fewer screens as compared to "Radhe Shyam". ## "The Kashmir Files", which tells the story of the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the early 1990s due to the Kashmir Insurgency, got a big boost towards evening and night shows from the strong word of mouth. The film has managed to touch the hearts of the audiences, and it is sure to grow further over the weekend. ## In the comparison between "Radhe Shyam" and "The Kashmir Files", the Radha Krishna Kumar-directed had 428 shows in Mumbai for the Hindi version, wherein "The Kashmir Files" had only 153 shows on the first day. There is a massive gap in the budget of two films as well. It all began with Nana Patekar's "Natasamrat", which became the first Marathi movie to gross over Rs. 50 crores at the box office. ## However, the record of "Natasmrat" was later outscored within five months when the all-time blockbuster Marathi movie "Sairat" was released on April 29, 2016. It will easily cross the next two movies, "Naal" (Rs. 32 crores), and "Timepass" (Rs. 33 crores), to reach number 5 in the list. ## The film depicts the historical rearguard last stand that took place on 13 July 1660 at a mountain pass in the vicinity of fort Vishalgad, near the city of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India between the Maratha Warrior Baji Prabhu Deshpande and Siddi Masud of Adilshah Sultanate, known as Battle of Pavan Khind. ## "Pawankhind" was originally slated for June 2021 release, but the makers were forced to postpone it due to the second covid-19 wave. Los Angeles, March 6 - Robert Pattinson's debut as Caped Crusader ignited domestic box office as "The Batman" scored a mighty $134 million over the opening weekend, making the best opening weekend of 2022 and the 2nd biggest during the entire covid-19 pandemic. ## The Matt Reeves-directed is nearly two and a half times bigger than the second-best 2022's movie Sony's "Uncharted", which grossed $44 million in the opening weekend in February. Interestingly and very promisingly, "The Batman" is only the second non-Chinese movie during the pandemic to cross the $100 million mark in a single weekend, after "Spider-Man: No Way Home's" historic $260 million in December 2021. ## The DC superhero movie has the widest domestic release in over 4417 theaters during the pandemic. The film had grossed $56.6 million on Friday, which also included $21.6 million pre-shows. On Saturday, the movie dropped 24% for $43.25 million, followed by a 21% drop on Sunday for $34.15 million. The average per-theater ticket sale was $29,092 during the weekend. ## The latest outing in the blockbuster franchise has also taken the 3rd biggest opening for a solo Batman movie. For Warner Bros., it is the biggest debut since 2016's "Suicide Squad", which grossed $133.6 million, and the studios' first movie to cross $100 million in the opening weekend since 2017's "It". ## The $200 million budgeted adventure movie has very well been received by the audience with A- Cinema Score. "The Batman” is shaping up to be a commercial winner for Warner Bros.
