Los Angeles, February 24 - The Sony Pictures' video game adaptation, "Uncharted" has surpassed the entire domestic box office total of James Gunn-directed "The Suicide Squad", starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, and John Cena, among others, in just 6 days. ## The Tom Holland-fronted adventure movie, based on the popular PlayStation game series from publisher Naughty Dog, "Uncharted" has grossed $57.9 million through Wednesday (Feb. 23), overtaking "The Suicide Squad" ($55.8M) along with "The Addams Family 2" ($56.5M), and "The Boss Baby 2" ($57.3M). ## Warner Bros. "The Suicide Squad", based on the DC Comics team Suicide Squad, was a day-and-date release on HBO Max in 2021 while "Uncharted" is an exclusive theatrical release, which has been Sony's top priority, despite the covid-19 pandemic. Chennai, February 23 - The highly-anticipated action thriller Valimai fronted by Ajith Kumar is all set to explode at the ticket windows from tomorrow. Ajith Kumar is finally returning to the big screen after two-and-a-half years with Valimai and the film is poised to take an earth-shattering opening.## The actor will be seen playing the role of a police officer in the H Vinoth directorial. The film also stars Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya Gummakonda, and Bani J in supporting roles. Mumbai, February 22 - Allu Arjun's "Pushpa - The Rise" has proved itself as the box office monster in Hindi, despite many challenges and low promotion. Even though it was made available on the OTT platform 4 weeks after its theatrical run, the Telugu action thriller continues to attract audiences in theaters, which has been a pleasing sight for the film industry. ## "Pushpa - The Rise" has truly been a trendsetter and surpassed many outright Bollywood films at the box office. While it will finish behind Akshay Kumar-fronted "Sooryavanshi" in terms of business, Pushpa, however, has beaten this Rohit Shetty-directed at one of the crucial aspects of theatrical terms, footfalls. ## "Sooryavanshi", which was released on Diwali 2021, attracted 11 million footfalls in theaters in India and did nearly Rs. 196 crores business at the box office. "Pushpa - The Rise", on the other hand, has invited nearly 13.10 million footfalls, which is the biggest for a Hindi movie during the covid-19 pandemic. "Pushpa", due to the low ticket prices as compared to "Sooryavanshi", has so far done the business of Rs. 105.50 crores in Hindi. ## Even though "Pushpa" falls behind "Sooryavanshi" in terms of business, the makers and Indian cinema industry will be more than happy, considering the movie has brought the audiences to the theaters in large numbers. "Sooryavanshi" too has done very well, especially knowing the fact that it was the first major Bollywood release during the health crisis. ## Directed by Sukumar, "Pushpa" is a two-part release. Mumbai, February 21 - The Indian Marathi cinema has been on a roll for the last few months with back-to-back box office success. After earning hit status with films like Jhimma, and Pandu, the recently released Marathi movies, "Lochya Zaala Re", and "Pawankhind" are putting strong show at the box office. ## Pawankhind, directed by Digpal Lanjekar, is particularly has created riots at the box office and become another Marathi success story. Released on February 18, the historical drama kept mounting over the weekend after taking a start of over Rs. 1 crore. After Rs. 1.15 crore on Friday, the film showed a jump of 80% for Rs. 2.08 crores on Saturday and later closed the weekend with Rs. 2.80 crore (+34%) on Sunday, taking a 3-day total to Rs. 6.08 crores. ## Based on the life of Maratha warrior, Baji Prabhu Deshpande, "Pawankhind" has done very well in the B and C centers where it recorded Housefull shows at the single screens. The first-week collection of Chinmay Mandlekar-starrer is eyeing to finish over Rs. 10 crores, which will be a phenomenal result for the makers. The budget for the film is in the range of Rs. 7-10 crores. ## Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar-fronted social comedy-drama "Badhaai Do" showed an upward trend over the second weekend. After collecting Rs. 75 lakh on the second Friday, the Harshavardhan Kulkarni-directed jumped by 105% on the second Saturday for Rs. 1.54 crores, followed by a 29.87% jump on the second Sunday for Rs. 2 crores. The total 10-days domestic collection of "Badhaai Do" stands at Rs. 16.89 crores. Overseas, the film has grossed approx. 3 crores so far. ## Serving as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film "Badhaai Ho", "Badhaai Do" revolves around a couple in a lavender marriage. The movie received positive reviews from critics, praising the performances of the lead cast, direction, and theme. The Sony Picture's video game adaptation, based on the popular PlayStation game series from publisher Naughty Dog, "Uncharted" topped the 3-day domestic weekend with $44.2 million. ## Tom Holland has proved his star power and also answered many questions that he can also deliver at the box office outside "Spider-Man" movies. The 4-day President Weekend for "Uncharted" is projected to reach $51 million domestically (North America), which are significant box office numbers, considering the fact that the movie has been sidelined by critics with just a 39% score on Rotten Tomatoes. ## Internationally, the Ruben Fleischer-directed film is even more strong after debuting in the 47 new markets with $55.4 million. Earlier, the movie opened in the 15 international markets and had grossed $22.6 million, pushing its overseas haul to $88 million. The global total for "Uncharted" currently stands at $132.2 million through Sunday. ## Among the new international markets, France led all launches for Uncharted with $6.3 million followed by Australia with $4 million. Germany lands at number 3 with $3.4 million, followed by Italy with $3.1 million and Korea at $3 million. In India, "Uncharted" has grossed approx. 880K in the first 3-days at the box office.## The United Kingdom is leading the overseas chart with $16.4 million. Los Angeles, February 19 - Tom Holland is proving his worth at the box office as his latest film, "Uncharted", also featuring Mark Wahlberg, has surpassed expectation and opened to a strong $15.4 million on Friday at the domestic (North America) box office. ## The Sony Pictures' video game adaptation, based on the popular PlayStation game series from publisher Naughty Dog, "Uncharted" is projected to gross $40-$44 million in the 3-day weekend. "Uncharted" is doing far more business than expected thanks to younger males who are frequently visiting theaters, reports The Hollywood Reporter. ## Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the movie did not receive well by the critics, giving just 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it is being loved by the audiences, who gave it a B+ CinemaScore and 88% score on Tomatometer. The strong box office performance of "Uncharted" also gives an indication of how critics' reviews have become overrated, as suggested by director Ruben Fleischer, who called critics' reviews surprising for being so negative. ## The $120 million budgeted film was conceived as an origin story for the game series' globe-trotting adventurer Nathan Drake, played by Holland. The big-screen magic will be shining bright again after the moments of ups and downs in the last two years of the covid-19 pandemic. ## The last weekend of February 2022 will see three of the most-awaited Indian movies hitting theaters in the form of Ajith Kumar's "Valimai" on Feb. 24, Pawan Kalyan's "Bheemla Nayak" on Feb. 25, and Alia Bhatt-fronted "Gangubai Kathiawadi" on Feb. 25. Interestingly, all three movies will have multilingual releases, thus making things tough for one another at the box office. ## Though there are a couple of other movies too to release during the same weekend such as the Telugu movie "Aadaalloo Meeku Johaarlu", starring Sharwanand and Rashmika Mandanna, the real battle to emerge box office king, however, will be among the three aforementioned films, especially between "Valimai", and "Bheemla Nayak". ## As far as the box office numbers are concerned, Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati-starrer Telugu movie "Bheemla Nayak", might outshine the other releases. The movie is seen as the potential highest-grossing film for Pawan Kalyan. It will also be released in the Hindi dubbed version, however, that is unlikely to add extra fuel to it since there is no sign of promotion in Hindi yet. But who knows what destiny has in its store for this biggie. ## Pawan Kalyan's last film, "Vakeel Saab", opened to huge Rs. 40.10 crores net at the Indian box office. It is the biggest opening day record for a Pawan Kalyan movie to date, but it might be broken by "Bheemla Nayak". The upcoming actioner is creating more hype and buzz is surreal around it that makes this big-ticket a movie to watch out for at the box office. ## When it comes to hype and buzz, no other movie can match Ajith Kumar's Tamil tentpole "Valimai", which will be released a day before Pawan Kalyan-fronted. Ajith is one of the biggest stars in Tamil Nadu and his movies often gained a lot of attention. "Valimai" might become Ajith Kumar's biggest grosser of all time. His "Viswasam" is currently the biggest film with a worldwide collection of approx. 200 crores. ## "Valimai", directed by H Vinoth, will also be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada dubbed versions. It might make noise at the Hindi box office where it has to compete with Alia Bhatt-fronted "Gangubai Kathiawadi". In the Hindi circuit, "Valimai" is expected to release on over 1000 screens. It could open between Rs. 30-35 crores at the Indian box office.## The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is sure to take a good opening. Though Bollywood movies except, "Sooryavanshi", have struggled to take a good start during the covid-19 pandemic, "Gangubai Kathiawadi" could change that trend and surprise everyone. The trailer and songs of the film are doing good and the on-ground promotion is also picking the pace. Superstar Ajay Devgn has played a cameo role and his presence will surely boost its box office chances. If all goes well, the movie could open between Rs. 10-15 cores at the Hindi box office. It was a long wait for this biggie due to the pandemic as the film was postponed many times. ## Earlier it was speculated that big-budget movies like RRR, Pushpa, Adipurush, and several others will likely clash with KGF 2. Though these were proven wrong in due course of time, Laal Singh Chaddha was scheduled to release on the same date. However, on February 15, Aamir Khan Productions made the official announcement of the postponement of the release date. ## As per the current status, Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in the lead is scheduled to release on the same day as KGF2 along with some low-budget regional movies.## Moreover, the Tamil movie "Beast" starring Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde in the lead is scheduled to release on the same day.
