Mumbai, Feb 16, 2022: The monster box office hit Pushpa: The Rise starring Allu Arjun in a titular role has emerged as a massive pan-India success. And now, Pushpa has made another record. The Allu Arjun fronted Pushpa has beaten the collections of Prabhas's action thriller Sahoo in Mumbai. ## As per the trade pundits, Pushpa has overtaken Sahoo's box office collections in the Mumbai circuit. Sahoo managed to put a 40 Cr box office collection in the Mumbai circuit while Pushpa has crossed that figure by recording a 41 Cr box office collection and the film has still some healthy run at the box office. ## Pushpa: The Rise has emerged as a blockbuster hit in the north as the film has already crossed 100cr net box office collections making it one of the biggest hits ever from south dubbed films. ## The next part of Pushpa: The Rise titled Pushpa: The Rule is hugely awaited in the northern markets and trade pundits are expecting the 2nd part to become a bigger grosser than 1st part given the surge in popularity of Allu Arjun in the north. Los Angeles, February 15 - "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is now the 3rd biggest-grossing movie at the domestic (North America) box office, beating James Cameron's 2009 sci-fi epic "Avatar's" $760.5 million. ## The total domestic gross collection of Tom Holland-fronted superhero movie has reached an estimated $760.9 million after collecting $1.6 million on Valentine's Day. There were doubts whether "No Way Home" would be able to beat "Avatar", and now, it can officially be said that it has busted those doubts and done the unimaginable in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic. ## Directed by Jon Watts, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has beaten the odds of the pandemic, however, this box office juggernaut is likely to stop with number 3 as it is unlikely to climb further heights in domestic markets. If it pushes really hard and does something which has never happened before, it will still need approx $100 million to beat "Avengers: Endgame" ($858 million) to reach 2nd spot at the domestic box office, which looks like an uphill task. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($936 million) remains in the first place. ## "Spider-Man: No Way Home", however, has played its part in glorifying the big-screen magic, in fact, it has done more than anyone had predicted at the time of the film's theatrical debut in December 2021. Meanwhile, "No Way Home" is also super strong at the international box office, and is currently the 6th biggest title at the global box office with $1.80 billion, without a single penny from China, which is the biggest movie market. ## "Avatar", meanwhile, may have slipped to 4th spot in the domestic market, it is still the king of the global box office with $2.802 billion, and will easily maintain its position without any trouble. If other movies really don't do something miraculous, only "Avatar 2", which is scheduled to release in December 2022, could come close or beat its preceeder at the worldwide box office. ## Coming back to "No Way Home", the 3rd MCU Spidey flick has shattered many records during its nearly 2-months long box office journey. During the opening weekend alone, the film landed the second-biggest domestic debut in history with $260 million and the third-largest global start ever with $600 million. It came just a few hours after the news of Laal Singh Chaddha getting postponed to August 11, Independence day weekend. ## Jersey was initially supposed to release on 31 December last year but got postponed due to the increase in covid cases, it will now come on 14 April. ## This date 14 April is already booked by the biggest event movie of the year KGF-Chapter 2 and now jersey makers are trying to release their movie too on this date, thereby making it a clash. ## Is it a good move or a blunder by the makers only time will tell. Mumbai, February 15 - Warner Bros.' big-budget sci-fi epic film "Dune" has broken into $400 million at the global box office, after getting a major boost due to its domination at the 94th Academy Awards nominations last week. ## The Denis Villeneuve-directed adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert scored 10 nominations, including the Best Picture, in the recently announced nominations. After getting re-released in the domestic market (North America), "Dune" gets benefitted from Oscar's nominations buzz and scored $145K on its 17th weekend for a total domestic cume of $107.8 million. ## Overseas, the film grossed $320K on its 22nd weekend, thanks to the re-release in Korea, reaching $292.3 million at the international box office. The movie currently stands at $400.2 million at the global box office, becoming the 8th highest-grossing Hollywood title of the covid-19 pandemic era.## Interesting to note that "Dune" was released simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters. So the box office numbers are satisfying for the studio, especially knowing that fact that it was also a major HBO Max success in North America. It is also Warner Bros.' second-biggest grossing title during the pandemic, after "Godzilla vs. Kong" ($468.2M), which was also a day-and-date release on HBO Max. ## Apart from the USA, the biggest market for "Dune" is China where it has grossed $39.5 million, followed by France with $32.6 million, the United Kingdom with $30 million, Germany with $22.5 million, and Russia with $21.3 million. ## Set in the far future, it follows Paul Atreides as his family, the noble House Atreides, is thrust into a war for the deadly and inhospitable desert planet Arrakis. Los Angeles, February 13 - Gal Gadot-starrer murder mystery film "Death on the Nile", took an underwhelming start at the domestic box office with $5.1 million on Friday, followed by Jennifer Lopez-Owen Wilson romantic comedy "Marry Me" with $3 million at number 2. ## Disney and 20th Century Studios' "Death on the Nile", based on the famous Agatha Christie novel, is heading towards $12.7 million in its opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. The opening of the film, however, is only half as much as the opening day gross of its predecessor "Murder on the Orient Express" ($10.7 million) in 2017, which went on to score $102 million domestic gross. ## The Kenneth Branagh-directed cost $90 million in production, and Hollywood trade experts believe that the movie will find it tough to recover the production cost. The movie has faced several delays due to the covid-19 pandemic while the production of the film was greenlit shortly after the release of "Murder on the Orient Express". ## According to Variety, the box office fate of "Death on the Nile" may have seemed prewritten for quite some time now. Many of Disney's projects rooted in the Fox era have been perceived as disappointments, with films like "West Side Story", "The Last Duel" and "The King's Man" coming up short at the box office.## The film is the third screen adaptation of Christie's novel, following the 1978 film and an episode of the television series Agatha Christie's Poirot broadcast in 2004. The flow of releases which stopped for a while after the Xmas period has seen new releases on the ongoing weekend. Though there was not a single major release except Ravi Teja's Khiladi, it is always a positive sign when many small films are running in the cinemas. ## Speaking about the box office collections on 11th February, Khiladi fronted by Ravi Teja has come out as a winner with a 7.85 Cr Gross opening day collection however, looking at the size of the film Khiladi is, the opening is decent only. ## The next best collections came from FIR with a 2.20 Cr Gross collection. Badhaai Do which was a mid-sized film from the Hindi film industry has collected a 1.95 Cr gross opening day collection. The action entertainer's dream Hindi box office run continued in its 8th week, earning Rs. 2.76 crores. ## Directed by Sukumar, the "Pushpa - The Rise" Hindi collection after the 8th week has climbed to Rs. 104.02 crores. It is currently the 88th highest-grossing Hindi film at the Indian box office. Over its 8th week run, the film crossed Ajay Devgn-fronted films "Bol Bachchan" (103.12 crores), and "Raid" (103.07 crores). ## According to the available box office data, "Pushpa - The Rise" has become the 3rd biggest earner at the Hindi box office in the 8th week, after "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" (Rs. 4.10 crores), and "Uri: The Surgical Stike" (Rs. 3.83 crores). It will also have a release in Hindi. Zee studios bought the theatrical rights of this movie. ## It will clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt.
