Sooryavanshi Beats Covid-19 Pandemic To Enter Rs. 100 Crore Club; Crosses Rs. 150 Crores Worldwide

Mumbai, November 10 - Rohit Shetty-directed "Sooryavanshi" has done what other Bollywood films couldn't do in the last one and 1 half year. The Akshay Kumar-starrer cop drama becomes the first Hindi film during the covid-19 pandemic to cross ₹ 100 crores net at the domestic box office. ## The 4th installment in Shetty's cop universe, "Sooryavanshi" remained super solid on weekdays after taking the biggest 3-day opening weekend start for Akshay with ₹ 77.08 crores (Fri-Sun). It netted ₹ 14.51 crores on Monday (excellent by all means) and dropped 22.67% on Tuesday for ₹ 11.22 crores (another superb hold). The five-day total stands at ₹ 102.81 crores with a gross total of ₹ 122.50 crores. ## It has become the 93rd Hindi film to enter the 100 crore club. It also becomes the 15th 100 crore film for Akshay Kumar, jointly most with Salman Khan. For Rohit Shetty, it is hit 9th ₹ 100 crores netted film. Interestingly, all his last nine movies (including Sooryavanshi) have crossed ₹ 100 crore net at the box office while for Katrina Kaif, who plays the female lead, it is her 8th 100 crores netted film. ## Overseas, "Sooryavanshi" has earned approx ₹ 30 crores in the first five days, and takes its total worldwide collection to over ₹ 150 crores (₹ 152.50 crores). The opening week collection of "Sooryavanshi" is expected to finish in/over ₹ 120 crores, which will be an excellent box office response for the film.
