Mumbai, October 18 - James Bond "No Time To Die" continued to perform well at the international box office. Released by Universal Pictures, Daniel Craig's final outing as a 007 agent had a fantastic weekend overseas, pulling in another $54 million in the past weekend. This takes its total global haul to $447.5 million including $99.5 million in North America. ## The MGM and Eon's 25th Bond film is yet to open in China, where it is slated to debut on October 29. "No Time To Die", meanwhile, has overtaken Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings" at the global box office this past weekend. Shang-Chi, which has become the biggest blockbuster at the domestic box office during the covid-19 pandemic, has earned $414M worldwide without getting a China release. ## Moving to "No Time To Die", the film is having a dream run at the U.K. and Ireland box office with approx $93 million gross so far, followed by Germany, where the movie is heading towards a brilliant $50 million gross. "Godzilla vs. Kong" ($467.8M), Japan's "Demon Slayer" ($503.1M), to become 5th highest-grossing film in the world in the last 18-months. Los Angeles, October 17 - The worldwide box office is slowly returning to the pre-covid level with each passing day as the pandemic is slowing down. The recent box office numbers, especially in North America, are indicating that the good days are not far away for exhibitors and distributors. ## The latest Hollywood slasher film, Halloween Kills, which is a sequel to 2018's Halloween and the twelfth installment in the Halloween franchise, surprised at the domestic box office and debuted with $50.4M in a 3-day weekend from 3705 theaters, the biggest opening for a horror film in two years. ## The David Gordon Green-directed had by far the biggest opening weekend box office for any Hollywood film during the pandemic releasing both in theaters and on a streaming platform simultaneously. Halloween Kills earned approx $19 million more than Warner Bros.' Godzilla vs Kong ($31.7M) in the first weekend despite its day-and-day release on Peacock.## Starring Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney among others, Halloween Kills was the number one film at the domestic box office weekend and doubled the second-best James Bond "No Time To Die" ($24.3M). Daniel Craig's swansong as Agent 007, the 25th Bond film is about to cross the $100M mark in North America. At the end of its second weekend, the movie stands at $99.5M while the worldwide collection is heading towards $450M without China. ## Meanwhile, Marvel/Sony's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" grossed approx $54M this weekend at the international box office and takes its total worldwide to $284 million, including a $168M domestic collection. Chennai, October 17 - What a turnaround this for Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil movie Doctor. At one stage, the movie almost succumbed to the OTT illusion, but now it is going all guns blazing at the box office. The comedy-actioner, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has been declared one of the biggest blockbusters of 2021, and the reason behind it is the unpreceded response from the audience. ## Produced by Sivakarthikeyan Productions, and KJR Studios, "Doctor" has become the highest grosser Indian film after the second covid-19 wave with INR 63.4 crores worldwide. It has surpassed the Telugu movie "Love Story" starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, which earned 61 crores* worldwide in the first three weeks while Akshay Kumar starrer "Bell Bottom" is at number 3 with Rs. 53.70 crores worldwide. ## "Doctor" was released on October 9 and it has earned Rs. 43.9 crores so far in Tamil Nadu state including Rs. 7.71 crores from Chennai alone. It was also released in dubbed Telugu version as Varun Doctor and it turned out to be a profitable venture for Telugu distributors with Rs. 2.09 crores so far. Overseas, it has approx Rs. 10 crores including 400K (Rs. 3.10 crores) at the USA box office. ## Even after 8 days, "Doctor" showing no signs of slowness and reporting Housefull shows all over Tamil Nadu. The 2nd Sunday morning occupancy was 80.38 which is remarkable considering the various factors. The box office numbers could have been much higher if there were no 50% theater capacity restrictions in Tamil Nadu. New Delhi, October 16 - Punjabi film "Honsla Rakh" has lightened up theaters on its first day itself. The movie, which stars Diljit Dosanjh, Shehnaaz Kaur Gill, Sonam Bajwa in the leading roles along with Shinda Grewal, opened in movie theaters on October 15 and earned INR 2.52 crore net in India. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron and produced by Daljit Thind, and Diljit Dosanjh, Honsla Rakh takes the biggest opening for a Punjabi film at the box office. It breaks the record of Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic comedy "Shadaa", which opened with Rs. 2.50 crores in 2019. ## Honsla Rakh's large share of the total 1st-day collection came from NCR where it earned INR 71 lakh followed by Chandigarh (33 lakh), Ludhiana (27 lakh), Amritsar (16 lakh), and Jalandhar (14 lakh). Mumbai, October 10 - James Bond "No Time To Die" opened with $56 million at the North America box office, very much in line with the industry's early box office projection of $55M-$60M. Daniel Craig's final outing as 007, the movie scored the fifth-best domestic opening during the covid-19 pandemic. ## The pre-ticket sales of "No Time To Die" had better than "Venom - Let There Be Carnage" and the Hollywood industry insider had hoped to cross $60 million in its domestic launch. However, it was always going to be an uphill task for the movie as unlike the recent Hollywood pics, the Bond movie has always been fueled in large part by moviegoers 35 and older. ## It was still a good start for the Bond pic as recent reports suggest that the movie-going confidence is getting back among the older audiences, thanks to the rapid vaccination against the virus. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 57 percent of ticket buyers were over the age of 35, including 36 percent over 45 years old. The male audience is turning into large numbers as 64 percent of ticket buyers are male. ## Meanwhile, despite the above par opening domestic weekend, "No Time To Die" continues to score big in the international market. The Bond pic stormed past $300 million worldwide after grossing an estimated $89.5M internationally in the second weekend, taking its total overseas collection to $257M. The total global box office of No Time To Die stands at $313 million, without China, where the movie is scheduled to debut on October 29.## On the other hand, Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Three Rings" has crossed $400 million worldwide and becomes the third Hollywood pic to achieve the milestone during the pandemic. The Simu Liu-fronted pic stands at $401.6 million globally, including $212.5 million domestically and $189.1 million overseas. ## "Shang-Chi" is the only film to reach $200 million at the North American box office during the 18-months of covid-19. It also surpassed fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow" to go past $400M worldwide. Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious 9" is the highest grosser Hollywood film worldwide with $717M followed by Warner Bros.' "Godzilla vs Kong" which earned $468M. ## Stay tuned...
