Mumbai, November 15 - Gujarati devotional drama Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate has started the sixth weekend on a strong note, grossing more than the combined total of the first three weeks. The film grossed approximately 3.25 crores on its 36th day, which is an unbelievable collection for any film, let alone a regional title. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, Laalo has crossed the 50 crores gross mark at the time of writing this piece on its 37th day. The day is heading for 4+ crores gross, which will take its total domestic gross to around 53.50+ crores, making it only the second Gujarati film of all-time to cross the figure after Chaal Jeevi Laiye. Hera Pheri 3 or Bhoot Police 2: Which Is Priyadarshan's Next Directorial? The box office records of past Gujarati films are unavailable, but it is said that Chaal Jeevi Laiye grossed a little over 50 crores. Laalo is expected to be over 53 crores gross at the end of the day, which effectively makes it the highest-grossing film in the Gollywood cinema history. It is hard to predict where Laalo will finish its run, especially since it has had an unprecedented turnaround. As said, it grossed around 1.50 crores in the first three weeks, before it exploded in the 4th week and onwards due to positive word of mouth. Mumbai, November 14 - The much-awaited romantic comedy sequel De De Pyaar De 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan, has taken a decent start on the expected lines at the domestic box office. According to early estimates, DDPD2 has opened in the range of 8-9 crores net collection, which is very much in line with pre-release expectations. A double-digit start for the film would have been ideal, but not so good pre-sales indicated that it would require extraordinary word of mouth to reach there, which didn't happen. Given the sequel tag, the opening of DDPD2 is below par, as the first film opened to over 10 crores net in 2019. As said, the opening is still not something which can be called bad, and has comfortably beaten the opening of Ajay Devgn's last movie, Son of Sardaar 2 (7.25 crores net). The film has a chance to bounce back strongly on Saturday and Sunday, especially with hardly any competition at the moment. The weekend collection of DDPD2 will aim to reach around 30 crores net, which is, even though not a good total, but will be respectable. Mumbai, November 13: Ajay Devgn's much-awaited romantic comedy De De Pyaar De 2 is all set to arrive in cinemas this Friday, aiming to recreate the charm of its 2019 predecessor, which became a box office hit with a worldwide collection of around 150 crores. Directed by Anshul Sharma, the sequel marks Ajay Devgn's return to the romantic comedy space after a gap, pairing him once again with Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan joins the cast in a key role, among others. The film has been certified U/A by the CBFC with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 27 minutes, making it a family-friendly entertainer targeted at multiplex audiences. De De Pyaar De 2 buzz has been a mixed bag. After a widely appreciated trailer, the makers failed to build the buzz, which now seems to be hit and miss. It is believed and also suggested by the pre-sales trend that the movie's overall box office performance will heavily depend on word of mouth, especially given its genre and target audience. The original DDPD took in 10.40 crores net (including previews), and if the reviews are extremely positive, the sequel might challenge this opening start. One of the big positives for De De Pyaar De 2 is the limited competition at the box office this weekend. With no major releases lined up, the film has a clear run and could benefit from family crowds and walk-in audiences, particularly in urban centres. With grand promotions, renewed marketing buzz, and strong nostalgia among fans, the film has managed to collect over 50 crore worldwide in 10 days — a figure impressive for most re-releases, yet far below the towering expectations surrounding this one. Laalo had one of the biggest 5th Sundays ever at the Indian box office, not just for a Gujarati title. It was the number 1 movie this weekend (5th weekend) with a gross collection of approximately 16.50 crores, pushing the total collection to 32+ crores gross in 31 days. With this, it has become the highest-grossing Gujarati film of the year, and one of the highest of all time. Due to the non-availability of data, it is difficult to determine which is the biggest Gujarati grosser, but as per the unofficial numbers, Chaal Jeevi Laiye (2019) is the number 1 film with over 40 crores gross. Laalo, with the kind of momentum it has, is set to cross the current record-holder and become the biggest Gollywood blockbuster ever. It is hard to predict where Laalo will end its box office run, but with momentum by its side, it should cross the 50 crores mark easily and might go on to top 75 crores, which is unthinkable for a Gujarati film. Mumbai, November 8 - Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi-fronted Haq is having a good at the box office. The film, based on a historic Supreme Court judgement, seems to be striking a chord with the audience with its intense courtroom drama and compelling performance by the lead pair. Directed by Suparn Varma, Haq had a decent start domestically after it opened to approximately 1.75 crores in net collections. Though, is nowhere near Yami's last film, Article 370 (5.90 crores net), the film debuted on the expected lines for its genre and subject. The movie received a rousing reception from critics with high praise towards the story and performance of Yami and Emraan. The audience also seems to be on the same page, as the second day is almost 100% with double the collection of day 1. With a 2-day total of 5+ crores net, Haq is looking at nearly double-digit opening weekend, which is decent given the limited expectations for it.
