Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Daredevils by 5 wickets after Virat Kolhi and Ab de Villiers put up a master class show with the bat at Firoz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi on Saturday (May 12). ## It was a must-win game for RCB to stay alive in this competition. On the other hand, it was a big disappointment for DD as they are officially out of this competition.## Delhi Daredevils set a target of 182 after Rishabh Pant's another sizzling inning of 61 off 34 balls and debutant Abhishek Sharma's quickfire 46 off 19 balls. However, Virat and de Villiers 118 off 64 balls partnership, gave RCB a must win.## Kohli-de Villiers saga, finally!## It is the charm of Virat Kohli and de Villiers, which makes them one of the best players in the world. No total is big enough when these two get going. It was one of those days when the duo showed their master class again. In 118-run partnership, they had everything like aggression, class, calmness. KL Rahul and skipper Ravichandran Ashwin's stunning innings went in vain as Kolkata Knight Riders beat Kings XI Punjab by 31 runs in yet another run feast contest at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on Saturday (May 12). KKR posted 245 on board before KL Rahul came out with all guns to fire. He provided a explosive start to KXIP before bowled out by Sunil Narine. He scored 66 off 29 balls with the help of 2 fours and 7 sixes. However, Ashwin fought hard till the end but couldn't see through his team as they restricted on 214.## Sunil Narine roar again##Kings XI Punjab opted to bowl first after winning the toss. On a batting heavy pitch, Narine took full advantage of the new ball. After playing 7 balls, he was dropped by Mujeeb Ur Rahaman on his own ball and that proved costly in the end. He hit six on next ball and followed up with a four. However, Chris Lynn was bowled out by Andrew Tye after scoring 27 off 17 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Rajasthan Royals, after playing tough few matches in the middle, back to winning streak with back to back wins. However, the scene could have been different if they didn't play with Buttler on top. ## But as it is said "better late than before". They finally found their right combination up the batting order. After promoted Buttler as an opener, Rajasthan Royals won two out of four matches they played. Royals move up to number six in the points table with 10 points in 11 matches.## Jos Buttler has been outstanding after promoted as an opener. In last four matches, he has scored 67(26), 51(39), 82(58), 95*(60). These scores are enough to prove that RR missed a trick by not promoting him up the order.## However, it was not all that easy for Buttler after tough he had played before. But he adapted himself with the role he had given after. Buttler is the perfect man RR in first 6 overs where he can make full use of field restriction. He always provided flying start to Rajasthan Royals in those matches.## However, his latest knock against the Chennai Super Kings was arguably the best among the lot given that it had several fluctuations as the situation demanded, and him coming out in triumph each time. More than that his role always was to provide flying start.## In the match against CSK, he not only provided RR a solid start but also stood as a lone warrior in the run chase. However, CSK pushed Buttler on the back foot for several times and kept taking wickets in regular interval but he didn't lose his concentration and played till the end. He single-handedly took RR through home.## His knock was also applauded by the Chennai Super Kings head coach, Stephen Fleming after the match.## "I was pretty comfortable with the score that we got. But was had to get Stokes and Buttler early. We got Stokes but as I said, Buttler was a class apart. He was able to take the conditions out of play, he still found it difficult as the game went on. We still felt we had a chance if we got him out, but we just didn't get him out," said Fleming.## However, Fleming thinks that their bowler didn't execute their plans and allowed Buttler to open his arms.## He said, "The bowling could have been better. It's under pressure that Buttler played a good inning on a difficult track. We could have been more accurate, we missed a few times. But the fair bit of pressure the way Buttler played. It was almost two different games wasn't it?, if we could have got him earlier, I think the result might have been different. But I think it was great lone hand and we had no real answers. He put us under pressure. We had our chances but just couldn't capitalize tonight,".## Rajasthan Royals will be hoping that Buttler will continue his fine form into next matches. Rajasthan Royals kept their playoff hopes alive as they beat Chennai Super Kings by 4-runs after Jos Buttler's stunning knock of 95* off 60 balls, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Friday (May 11). After restricted CSK to 176, Buttler single-handedly guided RR home with one ball to spare.## Chennai Super Kings rides on Suresh Raina's 52 off 35 balls and Dhoni's unbeaten 33 off 23 balls to reach 176 after 20 overs.##Buttler strikes again## After putting 176 on a pitch which was on the slower side, CSK found themselves favorites to win this match. However, Buttler had some other idea. He provided RR a flying start despite losing two wickets in powerplay where RR scored 57 runs. He started with back to back three boundaries to David Willey on first 3 balls of the match. He followed this with 2 fours and a six to Harbhajan Singh in next over. RR lost the first wicket on 48 as Ben Stokes was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh after hitting a four and six in previous two balls. However, Ajinkya Rahane's poor form continued in this game as well as he was dismissed by Jadeja after hitting the boundary on the previous ball.## Buttler kept playing his shots and reached to his fourth successive fifty off just 26 balls. He put on a 46-run stand for the third wicket with Sanju Samson before Samson got run out after scoring 21 off 22 balls. However, CSK put pressure in middle overs with tight line and length. RR needed 38 runs in last 3 overs. They collected10 runs in 18th over and left with 28 off 2 overs. Kaeishanppa Gowtham then hit two sixes to Willey in 19th over and collected 16 from that over. With 12 needed in last over, Bravo gave only 4 runs in first three balls before Buttler hit six on 4th balls and changed the equation completely. Sunrisers Hyderabad became the first to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2018 after beating Delhi Daredevils by 9 wickets in a run feast contest on Thursday (May 10). It was one such day where Delhi Daredevils were struggling at 52 for 3 at halfway stage before 20-year old Rishabh Pant played a stunning counter-attack. He scored an unbeaten 128 off 63 balls including 15 fours and 7 mighty six. ## However, SRH chased down their highest target after Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson's masterful show with bat and put on an unbeaten 176-run stand for the second wicket and saw SRH through the home with more than one over to spare.##Rishabh Pant has been in sensational form throughout this IPL. He is now leading run-getter in this IPL with 521 runs in 11 innings. However, his effort with the bat didn't prove enough as Daredevils has already been out of this tournament. ## "It's is very harsh for our team because the pitch played better in the second half due to dew. Happens in cricket sometimes, your bowling unit doesn't click," Pant said while receiving the orange cap. ## When he was asked about his knock, he said, "I was just trying to see the ball and hit it cleanly. Took my time early on and things worked out well. Happens, it was a miscommunication (about ran out his partner), I just misjudged the run. It is a part and parcel of the game. The wicket was a good surface towards the end. A bit of partnership at the top, which gave us the momentum. We were batting with intent when chasing 180. I think when you are rotating strike the boundaries start to come. It was nice to get that partnership. Shikhar was outstanding, certainly put them on the back foot."## Sunrisers will also be happy to see the way Shikhar Dhawan had played. He had been struggling since the ball hit his elbow earlier this season. However, he came out with all gun and played an unbeaten knock of 92 off 50 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes. Rishabh Pant's maiden IPL ton went in vain as Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson's unbeaten 176-run stand off 102 balls for the second wicket helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Delhi Daredevils by 9-wickets at Firoz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Wednesday (May 10).##Delhi Daredevils after winning the toss, post a big total of 187 after 20 overs. Thanks to Pant's 128* off 63 balls. But Dhawan and Williamson overshadowed Pant's blitzing knock by the 176-runs stand. SRH chased down the target comfortably in the end with 7 balls to spare.##The Rishabh Pant show at Kotla##Delhi Daredevils decision to bat after winning toss seemed to backfire them as they lost first three wickets on 43 inside 8 overs. But it was Pant who not only help DD to recover from those early blows but also gave them a total that was not looking even near after first 10 overs. Pant didn't take much time to get going despite DD kept losing wickets. He hit three back to back boundaries to Siddarth Kaul. However, after hitting those boundaries, he stuck to 1s and 2s in next 3-4 overs. But once the halfway mark crossed, he started hitting again and never looked back after that. He took on number 1 T20 bowler Rashid Khan in his second over for 15 runs. He reached to his fifty with a six to Shakib Al Hasan. He celebrated this with a six to Kaul in next over followed by a four and six to Rashid Khan. But the highlight of his innings was those hit which he hit to Bhuvneshawar Kumar in 18th and 20th over. In those overs, he collected 43 runs off 11 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours. While in this process, he reached to his maiden IPL century off just 56 balls and became the second youngest to score an IPL century.##However, despite Pant's 128, none of the other batsmen could contribute much. He single-handedly lifted DD to 187 after 20 overs.##Dhawan and Williamson made 188 a cake walk##Sunrisers Hyderabad needed a solid start to win this match but Harshal Patel provided Delhi a big breakthrough as he got Alex Hales out LBW in second over on 15. Hales scored 14 off 10 with three fours. However, it was the only wicket DD could manage as Dhawan and skipper Williamson didn't give any chance going further in this match. Both Dhawan and Williamson played their shots in the gap without taking any risk. None of the DD pacers could able to put pressure on either player. Dhawan reached to his fifty off 30 balls with the help of boundary to Harshal Patel. Without taking too much risk, he was able to get boundaries on regular basis. However, he celebrated his fifty with two sixes to Shahbaz Nadeem in 13th over.##On the other hand, Williamson was calmer and composed than Dhawan. He was playing a supporting role of Dhawan but somehow he was able to find boundaries. However, he reached to his fifty off just 37 balls with a boundary to Trent Boult. He changed his gear after fifty and hit a six and four to Plunket and Patel in next two overs. He hit winning runs by hitting back to back fours to Boult and finished the game with more than one over to spare. Both Dhawan and Williamson remained not out on 92 and 83 respectively. Dhawan awarded Man Of The Match for his match-winning knock.##No mercy for bowlers on such day##It was one of those days when no bowler wants to bowl. When Rishabh Pant was batting, he took every bowler all over the park. But despite being the merciless day for bowlers, Shakib Al Hasan and Sandeep Sharma were the only bowlers whose economy rate was under seven. Shakib who removed both the DD's openers conceded only 27 runs in 4 overs. While Sandeep Sharma gave away only 24 runs in 4 overs without taking a wicket. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who gave just 7 runs in first two overs, went for 44 runs in his last two overs. His figure 4-0-52-1 is the second worst figure in IPL.##On the other hand, none of the DD's bowler could make his mark and went for plenty. Trent Boult conceded 43 runs in 3.5 overs while Liam Plunket went for 41 runs in 4 overs. Mumbai Indians, after disappointing first half in this IPL, back to win third consecutive match as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by big margin of 102-runs at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday (May 9). With the help of this win MI moved up to number 4 for the first time in this IPL.## It was the must-win game for Mumbai Indians to stay alive in this tournament and they won it with the bang. MI posted 210 runs on board after sizzling knock of 62 off 21 balls by Ishan Kishan. And then MI's bowlers did the job by bowled out KKR on 108 in 18.1 overs. Ishan Kishan awarded Man Of The Match for his sensational knock.## Ishan Kishan show at the Eden Gardens## After winning the toss, KKR invited MI to bat first. MI started well and put on a 47-run for the first wicket. However, Piyush Chawla got two wickets in two successive overs and left MI to 62 for 2 after 9 overs. Then it was all Ishan Kishan show at Kolkata. He started his innings with a six to Kuldeep Yadav only on second ball he faced. He followed the six with three boundaries to Chawla in next over. That over gave momentum to his innings and he never looked back after that. He hit two boundaries to Andre Russell and Prasidh Krishna, one to each in next two overs. But his take on to Kuldeep Yadav in next over was the highlight of his innings where he hit 4 back to back sixes to Yadav and reached to his fifty in only 17 balls. However, he couldn't control his shots and got out Narine after hitting six in the previous ball. Before he got out, he scored 62 off 21 balls including 5 fours and 6 sixes. Later in the innings, Ben Cutting's quickfire cameo of 24 off 19 balls help MI to reach to 210 after 20 overs.## Too much reliance on spinners, let down KKR## Spinners have always been the strength of KKR. But in this match, they were taken all-around the park. However, their ever-reliable Sunil Narine bowled a decent spell of 4 overs 1 for 27 but other two had a horrible night with the ball. First Ishan Kishan took on Kuldeep for 5 sixes of his balls and then Ben Cutting came hard on Chawla in last over of the innings in which MI scored 22 runs. Kuldeep couldn't complete his spell and given away 43 runs in 3 overs without taking any wicket while Chawla after bowled excellent first two overs, went for 48 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets.## Target of 211 proved too big for KKR## Chasing 211, was always going to tough for KKR. Still they were hoping that their openers will provide them a solid start. But on such day where nothing went KKR way, their openers too fell quick . Narine after hitting boundary of the first ball of the innings, got out on next ball to Mitchell McClenaghan. Robin Uthappa tried to break the shekels after hitting 2 sixes to Krunal and Bumrah. But he ran out his Partner Chris Lynn in a bit of Yes-No confusion. Lynn made 21 off 15 balls. Two overs later, Mayank Markande dismissed Uthappa after scoring 14 off 13 balls. After that none of the other batsmen shown good intent and kept losing wickets. And they fumbled out on 108 with 11 balls to spare.## Mumbai Indians bowled really well and didn't allow KKR to came back in game. Pandya brothers were the star with ball and picked two wickets each. KL Rahul's fine form continued but his 95* off 70 balls went in vain as Rajasthan Royals beat Kings XI Punjab by 15-runs in a must-win game at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Tuesday (May 8). With this win, Royals found themselves on sitting 6th spot in points table.##Royals Ride on Jos Buttler's third consecutive fifty-plus score and set a target of 159 for KXIP. Rahul was the lone warrior in runs chase but his effort didn't prove enough to get his team through to the line.## Jos Buttler- Better late than never## It was out of thinking to send Buttler middle in the batting order in first seven matches as it was not helping RR at all. However, they soon realized their mistake and promoted him up as a opener. And since then he has scored 67, 51, and 82 in last three matches.##In this match, he led Royals to just about par score with 82 off 58 balls. He was the one who took full advantage of powerplay. In first six overs, RR scored 63 runs for the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Karishanppa Gowtham. After that he put on a 53-run stand off 48 balls with Sanju Samson, who made 22 off 18 balls and was the second highest scorer for Royals. Buttler was dropped on 79 by Akshdeep Nath but he couldn't capitalize that drop and got stumped out to Mujeeb Ur Rahaman three runs later. However, None of the other batsmen could able to play big innings and resulted RR restricted to 158 for 8 after 20 overs.## Had KXIP chance to win this match## After restricted RR to 158, and looking at KXIP's batting, it was definitely a target that should be chased down. But it's became difficult after KXIP lost three wickets on just 19. They couldn't recover from this and kept losing wickets further. It was also getting difficult for Rahul to play his shots freely. None of the other batsmen could reach double-figure score despite Marcus Stoinis (11), and that resulted, they couldn't build any big partnership and fell short 15 runs in the end.## Not a day of experiments## It was the day when both the teams did experiments in their batting order. First, it was Rajasthan Royals who promoted Gowtham at no. 3 to take advantage of powerplay. However, he celebrated his promotion with a six but soon after he fell to Marcus Stoinis in trying to hit another. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab too did a experiment after skipper Ravichandran Ashwin promoted himself at no. 3 to give some sort of stability in their batting order. But it didn't work for them as he got out the only second ball he faced to Gowtham.## How good were Ish Sodhi and Gowtham with ball## This was a pitch that offered a lot to spinners and Sodhi and Gowtham took full advantage of the slowness of the pitch. First off all, Gowtham sent back dangerous Chris Gayle, who got stumped by Buttler. Gayle tried to use his feet but Gowtham fired down the leg-side where Buttler did not make any mistake. Two balls later, Gowtham got Ashwin by bowled him out. He bowled three overs and gave away only 12 runs for 2 wickets. On the other hand, Sodhi was tight with his line and length and didn't give any chance to Punjab to open their arm. And that paid him off of Akshdeep Nath's wicket. He finished his spell impressive figures of 4-0-14-1.## For KXIP, it were Andrew Tye and Mujeeb, who bowled decently. Tye took 4 wickets for 34 runs in his 4 overs of spell. On the other hand, Mujeeb was the was the most economical bowler for Punjab as he conceded only 21 runs in 4 overs and grabbed two wickets.## Jos Buttler awarded Man Of The Match for his match-winning knock. BCCI has announced the 16-man ODI squad for three-match series in England. KL Rahul, who is in a sublime form in ongoing IPL, has been included in the squad while Ambati Rayudu, who is the highest run-getter in this IPL, has also been picked. On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane, who was named the captain of the Test side for Afghanistan, couldn't find his place in ODI squad.## Rahane was the part of the Indian squad for South Africa ODIs earlier in this year. He was kept in the team to overcome from team's no.4 woes. However, he started the ODI series with 86-ball 79. But he couldn't continue this form into next matches and could only score 11,8,8,34 in the rest of the series. Manish Pandey also missed out to make it into the 16-man squad.## Selectors have included 27-year-old speedster Siddarth Kaul in both ODI and T20I squad. He is also being in fine form in this IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad. While BCCI brought back Ambati Rayudu, who has not been played an international match since June 2016. He gets his reward for being in great form in this IPL. Umesh Yadav, who was dropped after ODI series against Australia also been recalled for the both ODI and T20I squad.## In the spin department, its look like there is no place for Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the shorter format. Axer Patel also left out as Washington Sunder made it to the squad.
