Mumbai, December 29 - Disney's animated adventure Mufasa: The Lion King has topped 100 crores gross collection at the Indian box office, becoming the third Hollywood movie of 2024 to achieve the feat after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Deadpool & Wolverine. ## Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa crossed the 100 crores gross mark on its second Saturday (9th day) as EOD gross is expected to be 108+ crores (including 3D charges). The movie has benefitted from the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu in Hindi and Telugu languages.## The original English version of the film is the top contributor with around 39 crores gross, closely followed by Hindi with 37 crores gross while Telugu and Tamil have generated around 32 crores gross in 9 days. Mufasa is having a fantastic second weekend in all versions. ## Mufasa is likely to beat Godzilla x Kong (134 crores gross) this week to become the second biggest Hollywood grosser of the year in India and will also look to down Deadpool 3 (169 crores gross) in its lifetime run to claim the top spot. ## Stay tuned...

Los Angeles, December 28 - Warner Bros. Pictures has pushed back director Matt Reeves' The Batman 2 by a year and it will now arrive in 2027. The film is the follow-up to Reeves' The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the titular role. ## The superhero sequel was originally supposed to be released on October 2, 2026, but will now shift a year and debut on October 1, 2027, in Imax, Warner Bros. announced on Friday. The production of the film is expected to start next year.## Reeves' The Batman was released in March 2022 and grossed over $772 million at the worldwide box office, including $369 million domestically. It was one of the highest-grossing films of 2022 and the biggest superhero grosser for Warner Bros. post the Covid-19 pandemic. ## Meanwhile, the Alejandro González Iñárritu's directorial an untitled movie with Tom Cruise has taken The Batman 2's original release date. Hyderabad, December 27 - Superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule has become the second highest-grossing film in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) after beating superstar Prabhas-fronted Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion in 23 days.## The Sukumar's directorial action drama has grossed approximately 307+ crores in AP-TG in 23 days (including the 4th Friday) as the second biggest grosser, seating between two SS Rajamouli's directorial ventures - Baahubali 2 and RRR. ## Pushpa 2 took one of the biggest openings in Telugu states approximately 89 crores (including previews), before showing a little drop over the first weekend. However, once the ticket prices lowered, the film showed a better trend and remained the first choice of moviegoers since then. ## With no big film until the Sankranthi festival, Pushpa 2 is expected to continue to score and will look to finish around 350 crores gross. Mumbai, December 27 - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has been busy with the highly-anticipated spy action thriller War 2 since last year. The movie, scheduled to be released in August 2025, is being directed by Ayan Mukerji and also stars Telugu superstar Jr. NTR (Bollywood debut) in the parallel lead role. ## The final schedule of War 2 will be shot in April next year and after wrapping it up, Hrithik will start superhero biggie Krrish 4 which will be the actor's immediate next, according to the latest report by mid-day. ## It is said that the script work on Krrish is nearly done and the makers are set to take it on floors by the summer of 2025, with schedules in Mumbai and parts of Europe. The film remained the first choice of moviegoers this past week despite the arrival of a new film. ## Directed by Sukumar, the action drama minted approximately 103+ crores net collection, beating Stree 2 to become the biggest third-week grosser in Hindi. Tokyo, December 26 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's Devara - Part 1 is heading to the Japanese cinemas next year. Directed by Koratal Siva, the action drama was released on September 27 this year in India and internationally, grossing over 400 crores at the worldwide box office. ## According to the latest update, Devara will be released in Japan on March 28, 2025. The release is being handled by Twin, the same distributor behind Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD, with ticket sales set to begin on January 3, 2025.## Jr. NTR has a big fan following in Japan, especially after the mega success of SS Rajamouli's directorial RRR, which also stars Ram Charan. Mumbai, December 25 - Varun Dhawan's mass action entertainer Baby John is the last big Bollywood release of 2024 and it has taken a decent opening at the box office with double-digit numbers. ## The opening of Baby John got a push due to the Christmas holiday, however, at the same time, it was affected by strong holdovers like Pushpa 2 and Mufasa as early estimates suggest a 12-12.50 crore net opening for Varun Dhawan-starrer.## The film opened on the projected lines, however, being a mass movie and a holiday release, Baby John was expected to open much higher which didn't happen. The initial word of mouth seems to be mixed which might not be enough given the strong competition it has. ## Allu Arjun's mega-blockbuster Pushpa 2 - The Rule once again remained the first choice in Hindi despite being in its third week and against a direct new Bollywood film. It is running riot at the moment with no sign of slowing down anytime soon. ## On its 3rd Wednesday (21st day), Pushpa 2 scored an estimated 14-16 crores net collection in Hindi, jumping around 30% from Tuesday which is sensational. With this, the total collection of the film has reached 715+ crores net in the dubbed version and the 800 crores net club looks well within the reach that is no less than a dream. ## Meanwhile, another film of the day is Kichcha Sudeep's action thriller Max which has taken the biggest opening of 2024 for a Kannada movie. Mumbai, December 25 - Bollywood heartthrob Kartik Aaryan has reunited with his Satyaprem Ki Katha director Sameer Vidwans for a new love story film titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri which will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions in association with Namah Pictures. ## TMMTMTTM marks Kartik's maiden collaboration with Karan Johar after the duo came close to joining hands previously on Dostana 2 which also reportedly brought a major fallout between them before things became normal again. The movie was earlier supposed to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala but it didn't happen due to unknown reasons. ## The movie is touted as an ambitious one and will reportedly be made on a budget of 150 crores. The shoot of TMMTMTTM will commence next year and it will have a grand worldwide release in 2026. Chennai, December 25 - Tamil star Suriya has teamed up with director Karthik Subbaraj for an action drama film centred around a love story. It is the 44th film of Suriya and on Wednesday, the makers announced its official title as Retro with the teaser.## The teaser reveals Suriya as a Southern Tamil Nadu native with a gang mafia as a family business while Pooja Hegde plays his love interest. It shows Suriya's character attempting to reform himself for the sake of love as he promises to his lover to give up anger, and violence. ## The film is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment in association with Stone Bench Films and Shakti Film Factory. Retro, which also stars Jayaram, Nasser, Joju George, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, and Karunakaran, among others is confirmed for the Summer of 2025 big screen debut in multiple languages.## The music of the film is done by Santhosh Narayanan while Shreyaas Krishna is the cinematographer. Mumbai, December 24 - Disney's animated adventure film Mufasa: The Lion King is heading towards 100 crores gross collection at the Indian box office. The film has weathered Pushpa 2 - The Rule Storm and has performed better than expected. ## Mufasa, the prequel to 2019's The Lion King, was expected to do well in India due to the franchise's popularity and the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu. However, the box office carnage of Pushpa 2 threatened Mufasa's prospects, which didn't happen. ## In 7 days so far, Mufasa has grossed around 88 crores (including 3D charges) in India which is a very good collection. It performed brilliantly on Christmas Day (December 25) and Boxing Day. The film is likely to enter the 100 crores gross club by Saturday. ## The Lion King grossed over 190 crores in collection in India in 2019. Mufasa, on the other hand, looks like will fall short of those numbers, however, it can go nearer to The Lion King, depending on how it performs during the weekdays and New Year week. ## Mufasa will be the third Hollywood title of 2024 to enter the 100 crores gross club at the Indian box office after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (134+ crores gross) and Deadpool & Wolverine (169+ crores gross). Mumbai, December 24 - After stealing hearts with romantic and comedy entertainers, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the release of his first full-fledged actioner in the form of Baby John which is slated to hit the screens on December 25 on the occasion of Christmas. ## The film, directed by Tamil director Kalees, was easily one of the most anticipated Bollywood movies sometime back but the buzz has dipped for the last few weeks in the euphoria of Pushpa 2 - The Rule which is going great gun at the box office in Hindi. ## The advance booking of Baby John hasn't been on the expected lines but it has still managed to score a decent response with over 100K tickets sold for the opening day. As of 8 PM on December 24, the pre-sales gross for the opening is approximately 3.75 crores (including block seats) and the final advance sales heads for 4.50-5 crores gross. ## The pre-sales trend indicates the film's opening in the range of 10 crores gross, however, the Christmas holiday is expected to boost spot booking which can push the opening into the range of 13-15 crores. Pushpa 2 is the real challenge as it is dominating the mass pockets which is something Baby John also eyeing. There is also Hollywood Mufasa: The Lion King which has good pre-sales for December 25 in North belt. ## If there weren't the other two movies, Baby John could have easily aimed for a much higher opening as buzz for the movie was there to cash in the opportunity. At this point, an opening in the range of 13-15 crores looks more likely. If the projection holds, it can be called a decent start. ## Baby John will mostly depend on word of mouth and if it is positive, the film can really make up for the lost ground during the long weekend and New Year period as the genre of the film is something which has proved to be the ultimate king for the Indian movies for the last couple of years.## Stay tuned...
