Chennai, October 12 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Vettaiyan has topped 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office after the super strong second day. The movie had a mid-week release on Thursday and despite that, it took a solid opening of 64 crores globally. ## On its second day/first Friday, Vettaiyan dropped just around 25% at the domestic box office and grossed approximately 27.80 crores. Additionally, the movie minted approximately 14 crores gross collection internationally, making it a 42 crores gross second day worldwide. ## The rock-solid collection on Friday pushed the total to past 100 crores gross at approximately 105.80 crores, including 64.80 crores gross in India and 41 crores overseas. With this, it has become the 25th Indian movie and 5th Tamil movie of 2024 to achieve the feat. ## Vettaiyan is the third movie of superstar Rajinikanth to top 100 crores worldwide gross collection post the Covid-19 pandemic after Annaatthe (2021) and Jailer (2023). Mumbai, October 12 - Varun Dhawan's action thriller Baby John is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The actor will face Jackie Shroff in the movie and on Saturday, the makers unveiled the first look glimpse of the character of the veteran actor. ## After sharing a teaser poster, the makers shared a minute-long video on the occasion of Dussehra in which we get to see Jackie's ruthless, bloody villainous never-before-seen avatar as the 'evil' Babbar Sher in a prison. It promises to be goosebumps stuff with Thaman's BGM elevating the scenes. ## Directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee in association with Jio Studios and Cine1 Studios, Baby John will see Varun Dhawan playing the role of an ex-cop. Keerthy Suresh (in her Bollywood debut) and Wamiqa Gabbi play the female lead along with Rajpal Yadav in a key role. ## Apart from the main cast, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has a vital cameo role in Baby John and this is said to be one of the major highlights of the film. Kochi, October 12 - The year 2024 continues to get better and better for the Malayalam film industry with a maximum number of films entering the 100-crore gross club at the worldwide box office and the latest to join the list is Tovino Thomas-fronted Ajayante Randam Moshanam.## The action-adventure was one of the most anticipated big-budget Malayalam titles and it performed on the expected lines. On its 5th Friday (30th day), ARM entered the 100 crore gross club at the worldwide box office, becoming the 5th Malayalam movie of the year to achieve the feat. ## At the domestic box office, ARM has minted approximately 68+ crores gross, including around 62 crores in Kerala. Overseas, the movie has grossed an estimated 32 crores for a worldwide total of 100+ crores in 30 days, making it the second movie Tovino after 2018 - The Film and his solo 100 crores grosser.## As said, ARM is the 8th Malayalam film of all time to enter the 100 crores worldwide gross club and is fifth of 2024 after Manjummel Boys, Premalu, Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life, and Aavesham, to breach the milestone. Chennai, October 11 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Vettaiyan is heading for a superb first weekend after a very good hold on its second day at the domestic box office. The movie had a very good start with 37 crores gross collection domestically. ## On its second day/first Friday, the movie is holding its ground firmly, especially in the home state, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. According to early estimates, Vettaiyan is expected to gross around 18 crores in Tamil Nadu, dropping under 15% which is a good hold. ## In Karnataka, the movie is estimated to score around 3 crore gross and the gross collection in the same range is expected at the Kerala box office. In Telugu states, the film is estimated to score 2.25-2.50 crores while in the rest of India market is expected to gross around 75 lakh. ## Overall, Vettaiyan is headed for 27-28 crores gross second day at the domestic box office, dropping around 30% which is a good hold. Mumbai, October 11 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt returns to the big screen with director Vasan Bala's action thriller Jigra since romantic comedy-drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in July 2023.## Jigra generated decent hype after the trailer release, however, this couldn't turn into box office numbers as the opening of the film is below the mark. According to early estimates, the movie scored in the range of 4.25-4.50 crores on its opening day. ## The opening of Jigra is somehow on the projected lines due to the genre but the presence of Alia was anticipated to bring bigger opening day numbers which couldn't happen. The word of mouth for the movie is mixed and it needs to be seen how it fairs over the Dusshera weekend which is crucial. ## While Jigra fumbles to take a respectable start, Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri's romantic comedy Vicky Vidya ka Woh Wala Video surprises with the bigger opening. The genre has more appeal than that of Jigra and this was clearly visible in the opening day footfalls. ## According to the early estimates, VVKVWV scored 5-5.50 crores net collection on its first day which is a decent to good start. Chennai, October 11 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Vettaiyan, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, scored a big opening of approximately 64 crores at the worldwide box office despite a mid-week release. ## At the domestic box office, the T. J. Gnanavel's directorial grossed a solid approximately 37 crores, including 20.50 crores in Tamil Nadu. Overseas, the movie minted 27 crores ($3.2 million), making it a 64 crores global start which is the second biggest for a Tamil title of 2024. ## Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All Time is the biggest Tamil opener of the year with 100 crores. Among the Indian movies, Vettaiyan is the 6th biggest opener of the year after Kalki 2898 AD, Devara: Part 1, The Goat, Stree 2 and Guntur Kaaram. ## Produced by Lyca Productions, word of mouth is on the positive side for Vettaiyan, especially in the home state and this is leading to a solid hold on its second day. Mumbai, October 11 - The folk horror thriller Tumbbad has eased down at the box office after a superb 4-week re-release run which saw it becoming the biggest re-release grosser ever at the Indian box office by a very good margin. ## Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad was re-released on September 13 amid public demand and what followed after that led the trade by surprise. The film almost wiped out its original total collection of approximately 13.50 crores net in the first week only with a superb 13.15 crores net. ## As word of mouth spread, the film maintained a very good hold in the second week with a solid 11.40 crores net, followed by another 4.40 crores net in the third week. In the fourth week, the movie remained over the 1 crore mark and scored approximately 1.65 crore net, for a total re-release collection of approximately 30.50 crores in 4 weeks (28 days). ## This is a very good collection for the genre and a movie which was a flop in its original run back in 2018. Tumbbad has managed to turn the table and also crossed the 50 crores gross mark (52.25 crores) at the worldwide box office, including the 16 crores gross original collection. ## The re-release factor used to work big for the Indian film industry a couple of decades ago and the trend is returning. Mumbai, October 11 - Maverick filmmaker Rohit Shetty and the team have announced the re-release of Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham (2011) ahead of the release of Singham Again which is scheduled for Diwali 2024 launch. ## Singham, which was the first movie in Shetty's Cop Universe, will be re-released in cinemas on October 18 across the country. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the movie also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Prakash Raj, Sonali Kulkarni, Sachin Khedekar, Govind Namdev, Ashok Saraf, and Murali Sharma, among others in key roles. ## A remake of the 2010 Tamil film of the same title by Hari, Singham was originally released in July 2011 and was a big box office success. The movie grossed 130 crores at the domestic box office and approximately 20.50 crores overseas for a worldwide total of 150+ crore. It was one of the highest-grossing Indian movies of the year. ## Singham Returns, the sequel was released in 2014 and bettered the box office performance over its predecessor by grossing over 200 crores worldwide. Hyderabad, October 12 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan's political action thriller Game Changer has been pushed back to Sankranthi 2025. The film is directed by S. Shankar and stars Kiara Advani as the female lead. ## Game Changer, which commenced filming in October 2021, has been postponed multiple times due to the delay in the shoot. Recently, producer Dil Raju announced at the event that they were eyeing a Christmas 2024 release for the movie but plans have changed again. ## On Saturday (October 12), the makers officially confirmed that Game Changer will now be released on January 10, 2025, during the Sankranthi festival week. The USA premiere will take place on January 9. Chennai, October 10 - After the massive success of Jailer last year, superstar Rajinikanth returned to the big screen with the action drama Vettaiyan which was released on October 10 amid much anticipation and is off to a very good start at the box office. ## Vettaiyan is different from a regular commercial entertainer and despite that, the movie has taken a solid start in the home state, Tamil Nadu. According to the early estimates, the film is headed for 20-22 crores gross opening day in the state which can go higher depending on how strong walk-ins are. ## Apart from TN, Vettaiyan is expected to gross 6-6.50 crores in Karnataka and 3.50+ crores in Telugu states. In Kerala, the movie has taken a solid start with an estimated 3.50+ crores while the rest of India gross is expected to be in the range of 1 crore. ## Overall, the film is estimated to score 35-37 crore gross collection at the domestic box office on its opening day which may vary a little bit depending on spot bookings. This is easily the second biggest opening for a Tamil title of the year after Thalapathy Vijay's The GOAT. ## The initial word of mouth seems to be positive for the movie, especially in Tamil Nadu and this should lead to a good opening weekend.
