Hyderabad, July 16 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD will stay in theatres longer than the recent Telugu biggies, as the team has reportedly confirmed it won't be releasing on the digital platform anytime soon. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is having a great run at the worldwide box office, already grossing over 950 crores in just 19 days. There were rumours that just like the other recent Telugu movies, Kalki would also be streaming on digital platforms after 4 weeks which has been denied by the makers.## As per Telugu media reports, the sci-fi epic blockbuster will be made available on a digital platform only after 10 weeks of its theatrical release, as per the pre-agreement with the OTT platform which has bought the streaming rights. ## Kalki 2898 AD is a Pan India movie and performed well in every version at the domestic and worldwide box office so far. The extension for the theatrical window is welcome news for theatres though the movie's pace at the box office is slowing down. ## The film stars Prabhas in the leading role alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, among others. It is the first instalment in a planned Kalki Cinematic Universe. Hyderabad, July 16 - Director Puri Jagannadh and actor Ram Pothineni reunited for the sequel to their blockbuster film iSmart Shankar. It is one of the biggest hits in the career of both Puri and Ram, and now, the duo is looking to repeat the magic with the sequel Double iSmart. ## The last respective films of Puri Jagannadh and Ram Pothineni were box office failures but Double iSmart is expected to bring the duo in winning ways. There is genuine excitement for the movie among moviegoers and the makers have locked record business for the same.## According to Aakashavaani, Prime Show Entertainments, which earlier produced one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters Hanuman, has acquired the worldwide theatrical rights (excluding the Hindi version) of Double Ismart for 60 crores (6 crores recoverable and 54 non-recoverable). The area-wise details are not yet revealed.## The deal is said to be a record for Ram Pothineni and the makers are looking to cash in on the big opportunity upon the film's release on August 15, on Independence Day. The film is produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur under the banner of Puri Connects. ## The film marks Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's Telugu debut as he plays the antagonist role as Big Bull while Kavya Thapar plays the female lead role. Mumbai, July 16 - The creators of the iconic television serial Ramayana, Sagar Pictures Entertainment is now set to make films and series on Lord Krishna by adapting Srimad Bhagavatam for the big screen as well as the TV screen.## As per reports, actors across film industries will be brought on board to headline these projects and the makers have collaborated with a leading international VFX company to bankroll them. Mumbai, July 16 - Kalki 2898 AD has had the biggest third weekend at the Hindi box office, beating horror-comedy Munjya by a good margin. The Prabhas-starrer movie was easily the number-one choice over new releases (Sarfira and Indian 2) this past weekend for the Hindi audience.## Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi epic scored an estimated 21.70 crores net collection, beating Munjya which minted approximately 15.35 crores net, to score the biggest third weakened of the year in Hindi. Kalki 2898 AD also crossed 250 crores net collection after its third weekend and is now on track to beat RRR (272.80 crores net approx.) to become the third biggest South India grosser in Hindi.## Here are the top 5 third weekends of 2024 in Hindi (net collection) -## 1. Mumbai, July 15 - Universal Pictures/Illumination's Despicable Me/Minions becomes the first animated film franchise to reach $5 billion at the worldwide box office after the latest blockbuster Despicable Me 4 crossed $440 million. ## The Despicable Me franchise has 6 films so far, including the two prequel Minions movies (Minions, and Minions: The Rise of Gru). These 6 films have combined grossed $5+ billion, making it the first animated franchise to reach the milestone, according to Deadline. It was, however, already the highest-grossing animated franchise.## Minions (2015) is the highest-grossing film in the franchise so far with a worldwide gross collection of $1.15 billion, followed by Despicable Me 3 (2017) with $1.03 billion, Despicable Me 2 (2013) with $971 million, Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) with $940 million, Despicable Me (2010) with $543 million, and Despicable Me 4 (2024) is currently at the last spot with $441 million. ## News of the $5 billion achievement comes as Universal last week dated Minions 3 for release on June 30, 2027. Mumbai, July 15 - After conquering the box office in 2023 with three back-to-back big successes, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is now gearing up to kickstart his next movie, tentatively titled King with Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh and producer Siddharth Anand. The action thriller, which will mark SRK's daughter Suahana Khan's big-screen debut, has been in the news since last year despite no official announcement from the makers yet. Now, as the movie is gearing up to commence shooting in the next few weeks, the makers are speeding up to lock the rest of the cast. According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Abhishek Bachchan has been locked in to play the antagonist role to take on Shah Rukh Khan in this big-scale action entertainer. As reported previously, SRK will be playing the role of Don while Suhana Khan will be in the parallel lead, essaying the role of a young girl who finds herself in perilous circumstances after a life-altering incident. It will be the first major negative role for Abhishek Bachchan, who was said to be surprised by the character when it was offered to him but accepted it immediately, intrigued by the depth of the role. It is said to be a special role, and Siddharth Anand, who produces the film with SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment, has grand plans to present Abhishek in a manner audiences have never seen before. Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan have previously starred together in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and Happy New Year (2014), but it will be the first time the duo will be pitched against each other. Mumbai, July 15 - Director Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD is a one-horse race at the Hindi box office and is marching towards 300 crores net club after a very good third weekend despite the arrival of new releases in the form of Akshay Kumar's Sarfira and Kamal Haasan's Hindustani 2. ## The Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic remained the first choice of Hindi moviegoers after it scored approximately 21.70 crores net collection, more than the combined opening weekend total of Sarfira and Hindustani 2's 15.80 crores net in the third weekend. ## The total Hindi collection of Kalki 2898 AD has crossed 250 crores net at approximately 255 crores after 18 days. The movie will beat SS Rajamouli's RRR (272.80 crores net approx.) in its 4th weekend to become the third highest-grossing South Indian movie in Hindi after Baahubali 2 (511 crores) and KGF: Chapter (435 crores). ## With new releases not performing to the level of expectations, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to continue to perform well for a couple of weeks and is on track to enter 300 crores net club. There is, however, Dharma Productions' Bad Newz on July 19 which might put some dent in Kalki's progress but it is likely to sail through due to the acceptance in all age groups.## The next big challenge to Kalki 2898 AD will be on July 26 when Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine will hit Indian cinemas.## Stay tuned...

New Delhi, July 15 - Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic-comedy Jatt and Juliet 3 crossed 90 crores worldwide gross during its third weekend as it is heading towards becoming only the second Indian Punjabi movie ever to top 100 crores gross. ## Directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, the third instalment of the blockbuster franchise grossed an estimated 3.10 crores in its third weekend at the domestic box office, taking its total India gross to approximately 40.65 crores gross (34.40 crores net) in 18 days.## Jatt & Juliet 3 is the second biggest Punjabi grosser at the domestic box office, after Carry on Jatta 3 (56 crores gross approx.) which will remain the top grosser for now as JJ3 is unlikely to gross another 15 crores in India with legs slowing down. ## Overseas, JJ3 has grossed an estimated 53+ crores, pushing worldwide cume to 93.50+ crores gross. This took the movie's total to 690 crores in 18 days. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi epic has become the 5th biggest-grosser at the Indian box office after beating Ranbir Kapoor's Animal (660 crore gross approx.) and Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (657.50 crores gross approx.) over the third weekend. Kalki will top 700 crores in domestic gross in a couple of days.## Overseas, Kalki 2898 AD has grossed an estimated 256 crores, for a worldwide cume of 945.80 crores after the third weekend. The movie will top 950 crores by Monday to become the 7th highest-grossing Indian movie globally of all time. ## The hold in the third weekend has kept Kalki 2898 AD in the race to reach the milestone of 1000 crores gross which only 6 movies have topped previously. Chennai, July 15 - Kamal Haasan's vigilante action thriller Indian 2 topped 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend and has become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024, beating Vijay Sethupathi's actioner Maharaja in just three 3 days.## Directed by S. Shankar, Indian 2 witnessed a continuous drop over the weekend due to mixed to negative word of mouth, but did enough to cross 100 crores worldwide. In India, the movie grossed an estimated 69+ crores gross and overseas, it minted an estimated 40 crores, for 109+ crores worldwide cume, beating Maharaja (105 crores gross approx.). ## Despite the 100+ crores opening weekend, Indian 2 somehow performed underwhelmingly as it was projected to score 100 crore weekend at the domestic box office alone. The movie's 69 crores domestic collection includes an estimated 35.50+ crores in Tamil Nadu and 17 crores in Telugu states.## Language-wise, the original Tamil version grossed an estimated 48.50+ crores, followed by 16+ crores in Telugu, and 4.50+ crores collection in Hindi. The not-so-encouraging word of mouth did dent the movie's business in all areas.## Indian 2 will need to perform well during the weekdays to emerge a success. Mumbai, July 14 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira has a low first weekend at the domestic box office with a collection of around 12 crores net which is one of the lowest for the actor in many many years. ## Sarfira opened to poor numbers which proved to be fatal for the movie despite the good jump in the collection. On its first Sunday/third day, the movie scored an estimated 5-5.25 crores net, jumping around 20% from yesterday, for around 12 crores opening weekend. ## These are good collections for a non-star film but for someone like Akshay Kumar along with a top star cast, 12 crores weekend is disappointing. There is an appreciation for the movie but it hasn't been able to covert this into footfalls in large numbers. ## To have some sort of legs at the box office, Sarfira will have to beat the opening-day collection and try to come close to second-day figures of around 4 crores on its make-or-break first Monday. It, however, won't be easy due to competition and a proper working day. ## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) remained in the similar range as yesterday as estimates suggest the first Sunday collection around 1.30 crores net for approximately 3.80 crores opening weekend in Hindi which is very poor. ## The movie witnessed a drop of around 15% in the collection for all languages on its third Sunday for an estimated 17.50+ crores gross (15+ crores net). All India opening weekend of Indian 2 is around 69+ crores gross (59 crores net) which is underwhelming as there were huge expectations from the film.
