Hyderabad, July 10 - SS Rajamouli's epic action drama Baahubali - The Beginning has turned 9 years old today. It was the movie which led the foundation stone of the highest-grossing Indian title in the form of its sequel Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion and paved the way for Southern Indian film industries to break the boundary barrier before BB2 took the momentum to next level. ## Starring Prabhas in the title role, Baahubali didn't have a smooth victory as it was panned by critics and the fear of failure loomed large. Mind you, had Baahubali failed, there might not be Baahubali 2 as the biggest Indian grosser and there might not be Prabhas as the biggest Pan India star, but destiny and audience had other plans. ## Baahubali overcame the mixed reviews and went on to become the first South Indian film to breach the 500 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office. Mumbai, July 10 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar-fronted Sarfira will reportedly host special fan screenings across 7 Indian cities on July 12, on the day of the film's official release.## Directed by Sudha Kongara, the biographical drama film is the remake of actor Suriya's Tami movie Soorarai Pottru, also directed by Kongara. The fan screenings will reportedly take place in Mumbai, Pune, Ahmadabad, Delhi, Indore, Ludhiana, and Jaipur. ## Meanwhile, ahead of the release, the team has had a media screening for Sarfira on July 9. Hyderabad, July 10 - Kalki 2898 AD is holding decently in the second week and is marching towards 900 crores club after surpassing 850 crores gross collection in just 13 days at the worldwide box office, by far the biggest Indian grosser of the year. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi epic remained at over 10 crores mark for 13 consecutive days now, taking its total collection to an estimated 630 crores gross collection at the domestic box office. Overseas, the Prabhas-starrer has minted an estimated 230 crores, for 860 crores worldwide cume in 13 days. ## Kalki 2898 AD is expected to top 900 crores worldwide gross total by the third Saturday, in 17 days. It has already become the 10th highest-grossing Indian film globally and will also become the 10th Indian title to top 900 crores worldwide gross. The movie will be aiming to finish its run around or over 1000 crores gross. ## Kalki 2898 AD is the first instalment in a planned Kalki Cinematic Universe. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD, the film follows a select group on a mission to save Kalki, the unborn child of SUM-80, a lab subject. Mumbai, July 9 - Kalki 2898 AD continues to put a solid show at the Hindi box office is approaching 250 crores net sooner than expected. The movie had a solid hold on the second Monday despite the weather challenges for approximately 6.50 crores net. ## The Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic is showing a drop of around 10% on its second Tuesday (13th day) for an estimated 5.50-6 crores net, pushing the total Hindi collection to 224.50+ crores in 13 days. The second week is heading for +/- 72 crores net which will take its 2 weeks total collection to around 235 crores. ## Kalki 2898 AD will enter the 250 crores net club in its third weekend in Hindi and depending on how the new releases perform, it will look to get nearer SS Rajamouli's RRR (272.80 crores net approx.) by the end of the third week before crossing it to become the third biggest South Indian grosser in Hindi. ## In all versions, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to score an estimated 10.50+ crores gross collection on its second Tuesday which will take its total domestic gross to around 630 crores in 13 days. Tokyo, July 9 - Director Prashanth Neel's action drama Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire scored the third biggest opening weekend for an Indian movie at the Japan box office. The Prabhas-fronted movie was released on July 5, six months after it debuted in December 2023. ## According to a trade report, Salaar grossed ¥18.2 million (Rs. 95 lakh) in the first weekend, playing at nearly 200 locations. It has beaten Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan which grossed JPY 14.6 million in the opening weekend in Japan to score the third biggest start for an Indian title. ## SS Rajamouli's RRR starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan remains the biggest Indian opener in the anime country with JPY 44 million in 2022, followed by Prabhas' Saaho with JPY 23 million. The current total of Salaar is JPY 23 million after scoring another ¥5 million on Monday and Tuesday.## Produced by Hombale Films, Salaar Ceasefire grossed approximately 618 crores at the worldwide box office in its original run. Mumbai, July 9 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who is gearing up for the release of Sarfira on July 12, will reportedly play a cameo appearance in the highly-anticipated Shraddha Kapoor-starrer horror-comedy Stree 2, which will collide with his Khel Khel Mein on August 15. ## According to the report by Hindustan Times, a source revealed, "Yes it's true. Akshay has a cameo in the Rajkummar Rao - Shraddha Kapoor starrer. The makers felt his comedy timing is impeccable, and his presence even for a few minutes will elevate that particular sequence". ## Interestingly, Akshay's Khel Khel Mein is also a comedy entertainer and if the reports about him playing a cameo in Stree 2 are true, it will be a double bonanza for his fans who want to see him in comedy roles. It is, however, not revealed in which capacity the actor will play the cameo in the much-awaited sequel. ## Stree 2 is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios. Chennai, July 9 - Tamil star Suriya's fantasy action Kanguva is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and even before its release, the makers have officially confirmed its sequel. The movie is directed by Siva whose last directorial venture was superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe (2021).## As Kanguva is gearing up for the Pan India release on October 10 this year, producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, confirmed in a recent interview that there will be two parts of Kanguva. The filmmaker revealed that they wrote the story for both parts and finished shooting for the first one. ## The filmmaker further revealed that Kanguva Part 1 was shot in over 185 days and the shoot for the second part will start at the end of 2025 or early 2026 as the makers are planning to release in January or summer of 2027. He also said that they have something exciting for the audience at the end of the first part to hook them for the sequel. ## Kanguva is the story of a warrior who lived in 1678 and died due to a disease. In today's world, a girl is actively the disease that killed the warrior of the 16th century. Chennai, July 9 - Actor and filmmaker Dhanush's second directorial venture Raayan has been censored with an 18+ rating by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for extreme display of violence, opposite of the actor's first directorial movie, Pa Paandi (2017) which was rated with a 'U' certificate. ## Raayan was censored on July 9, Tuesday, with an 'A' rating and the approved runtime of 2 hours and 25 minutes (145 minutes) which is a crisp and suitable runtime for these kinds of films.
