Mumbai, June 17 - Over the last many months, the Telugu film industry has been buzzing with the potential collaboration between superstar Allu Arjun and blockbuster director Atlee. The project was almost finalized and was supposed to go on floors by the end of this year, but now, there is a disappointing update on the same. ## According to the report by Telugu 360, Allu Arjun's film with Atlee has been shelved after the director's huge remuneration demand which shocked the producers. However, another report claimed that the project fell through simply because it did not align with the actor and director's preferences. ## After Allu Arjun dropped the movie, Atlee is believed to have approached Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to headline and Telugu 360 reported that the superstar has given his nod and the movie will be announced soon. Sun Pictures will reportedly be producing the film which is expected to go on floors in the first quarter of 2025. ## Salman Khan, meanwhile, has started shooting for director AR Murugadoss' action drama Sikandar which has Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. Chennai, June 17 - The Tamil film industry has returned to winning ways with a fourth success within two months at the domestic box office. After no-hit for the first four months of the year, the industry scored first hit in horror-comedy Aranmanai 4, followed by Garudan. Now, Vijay Setupathi's Maharaja joins the list. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja was released on June 14 and scored an excellent first weekend at the domestic box office with approximately 25.15 crores gross mark, which is the second biggest opening weekend for a Tamil movie of 2024, behind Dhanush's Captain Miller. ## Maharaja opened to an estimated 5.40 crores gross collection, including 1.20 crores in Telugu. The action thriller witnessed a big jump of over 60% on Saturday to score an estimated 9 crores gross, and there was a further jump of around 20% on Sunday for around 10.75 crores gross. ## The Tamil version of Maharaja has minted an estimated 19 crores gross while the Telugu version has grossed approximately 6 crores gross. The movie surpassed expectations after opening to excellent reviews and audience word of mouth. ## Maharaja is expected to have another solid day today due to the Bakrid holiday. The momentum is currently with the film which should help to continue doing solid business in the coming days despite the holdover movie, Garudan which is also doing good business domestically. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, June 16 - Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion scores another much-needed growth on its first Sunday to take the opening weekend past 20 crores net mark which can be seen as some sort of recovery after the slow start, however, the overall collection still below expectations. ## After scoring a jump close to 50% on Saturday, the biographical sports drama witnesses another around 40% jump on Sunday for an estimated 9.75-10.25 crores net, pushing opening weekend to around 21.75 crores. There is a holiday tomorrow due to Bakrid so a hold is expected. ## The positive word of mouth has helped Chandu Champion to recover its lost ground to some extent, however, the movie still needs to perform very well beyond the weekend. The good thing is that the movie has momentum after back-to-back good jumps so it can manage good hold throughout the week. ## The next big release is Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD on June 27, so Chandu Champion has one more week to make the most of it, however, there is a holdover movie, Munjya is giving tough competition to it with solid trending at the box office. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, June 16 - Hollywood almost sealed its first $1 billion grosser of the year after Disney/Pixar's animated coming-of-age film Inside Out 2 pulled off almost $300 million in its global opening weekend, smashing industry's projection by a long margin. ## Directed by Kelsey Mann, Inside Out 2 scored a mighty $294.2 million (2455 crores) opening weekend at the worldwide box office, pulling off the biggest opening of 2024 beating Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire ($195 million). The final collection of the movie may vary when actuals come tomorrow.## At the domestic (North America), the film grossed a huge $154.2 million (1290 crores), the second-biggest 3-day opening weekend of all-time for an animated movie, behind only Incredibles 2 ($183 million), and the biggest for Hollywood since Margot Robbie's Barbie ($162 million) last year.## Overseas, Inside Out 2 opened in 38 markets this weekend and scored a massive $140 million (1165 crores). For Disney, the global opening of $294+ million is the biggest since Avatar: The Way of Water ($441 million) in 2022. Mexico was the biggest market for the movie outside North America with $30 million, followed by Korea with $15 million and the UK with $14 million. In India, the movie minted approximately 9 crores ($1.07 million). ## The sequel to Inside Out (2015) did unthinkable to beat the projection as the box office hadn't been at its best this year for Hollywood. Mumbai, June 16 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's comedy entertainer Welcome To The Jungle is set to miss Christmas 2024 weekend after it has reportedly been postponed to 2025. The movie is directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. ## According to the report by Hindustan Times, Welcome 3 has been delayed as it has still multiple shooting schedules remaining, additionally, significant VFX work will be required after principal photography concludes which makes it hard to meet its Christmas weekend release. ## Welcome 3 is scheduled to release on December 20, alongside Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par and the Hollywood movie, Mufasa: The Lion King. Mumbai, June 15 - After the low start, Kartik Aaryan-fronted Chandu Champion shows a much-needed growth of around 40% on its second day which is a good recovery but the overall collection is still not big enough to cover the lost ground. ## Kabir Khan's directorial benefits from positive word-of-mouth as it collects around 6.50-7 crores net on its first Saturday, as per early estimates. Ideally, this should have been the opening day figure to set the tone for a good opening weekend but that is not the case. ## Chandu Champion's total collection after 2 days is around 11.50 crores. It can still manage to score a decent weekend if it can see a similar or better jump on Sunday which is very much possible given Monday is a holiday. The 3-day opening weekend is heading for 19-20+ crores while the extended weekend could be around 25+ crores. ## The positive word of mouth is clearly showing its effect but the real test for the movie will begin after Monday Bakrid holiday. The 100 crores mark looks a far cry at this moment but the movie needs to hold firmly beyond the weekend to even stand a chance to come closer to this mark.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, June 15 - Director Anees Bazmee scored a big box office success with Kartik Aayran-fronted horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in 2022 and they later announced the next film in the franchise for which the shoot has been wrapped up. Tripti Dimri replaced Kiara Advani to play the female lead. ## The makers locked the Diwali 2024 release for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, however, it won't be a solo release as director Rohit Shetty has also locked the date for his highly-anticipated cop action drama Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn in the title role. ## The box office clash between two hugely popular franchises has become a hot topic on social media and director Bazmee finally reacted on the same. During a recent interaction with Hindustan Times (via Firstpost), Bazmee shared his thoughts on this much-awaited box office battle. ## "Clashes are never a good idea. We had announced our release date for BB 3 a year in advance. I don't what to do now. All films get affected when there is a clash, there is definitely a loss in the process. And, it is not about showing confidence in your product. Every director, actor, and writer speaks confidently about their films", the filmmaker said. ## Speaking further about the possibility of change in the release plans, Bazmee added, "We haven't thought of it yet as we had decided the film's release date in advance. Hyderabad, June 15 - Telugu actor Ram Pothineni and director Puri Jagannadh reunited for the sequel to their blockbuster iSmart Shankar. The sequel, titled Double iSmart, also stars Kavya Thapar as the female lead and Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in his Telugu debut. ## Produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur under the banner of Puri Connects, Double iSmart has been locked to release on August 15 on the Independence Day after Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule believed to have been postponed. ## The sci-fi action drama was initially announced for a March 2024 release but due to the delay in the shooting, the movie stood postponed and will now be hitting cinemas this Independence Day week. The movie will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi in which it will be up against three straight Bollywood movies - Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, and Vedaa. ## As for the shooting of Double iSmart, it is said that except for three songs, the film has finished shooting. Two songs will be shot in Hyderabad and one in Goa soon. Chennai, June 14 - Actor Soori's action thriller Garudan has emerged as a big success and has entered the 50 crores club at the worldwide box office in 15 days. The movie joined horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 as the only Tamil movie of 2024 to score success at the box office. ## Directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, Garudan has grossed approximately 50.65 crores worldwide, including approx. 42.65 crores in India and an estimated 8 crores at the overseas box office in 15 days. It is currently the 4th highest-grossing Kollywood film of the year, behind Aranmanai 4, Ayalaan, and Captain Miller. ## Garudan received positive reception from critics and audiences upon its release on May 31st. The movie scored 4+ crores gross on its first day and remained solid throughout the first week to earn 27+ crores gross in India. It held firmly in the second week to collect approximately 14.75 crores gross and has started the third week on a good note. ## A consistent decent run for Garudan could take it to 50 crores gross mark domestically, however, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja might dent its chances as it also started strongly to collect over 5+ crores gross domestically. Los Angeles, June 14 - Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine is about to storm the box office and bring the studio back to old glory as the early box office projection of the third Deadpool movie revealed a monstrous start. ## According to Deadline, which quoted The Quorum's projection, Deadpool 3 is looking to open $200 million - $239 million at the domestic (North America) opening weekend. The tracking service is projecting these figures as conservative. ## Deadpool 3 is the first ever R-rated movie to be released by Disney. As said, there has never been an R-rated movie to open over $200 million, so it would be a monumental achievement for the threequel if it manages to do that. ## The current record for an R-rated opening at the North American box office is owned by the original Deadpool which scored $132.4 million in February 2016. As reported recently, the pre-sales of Deadpool 3 broke the first-day record of 2024 and probably has the highest so far for any movie of the year. ## Directed by Shawn Levy, the movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. Mumbai, June 14 - Kartik Aaryan-fronted biographical sports drama Chandu Champion has taken a slow start at the domestic box office as the movie couldn't generate much pre-release excitement among the moviegoers. ## The movie had low pre-sales which confirmed a low opening but there were hopes that things would improve with positive word-of-mouth which wasn't the case at least on the first day as early estimates suggest opening in around 4.50-5 crores net. The makers did try to lure the audience by keeping the ticket prices low for the first day only but it had less impact. ## The good thing for the movie is that the reception is seemingly positive among the general audiences so box office prospects may improve over the weekend which is a must. The movie will also enjoy the holiday on account of Bakrid on Monday. ## Chandu Champion will be aiming to score around 20 crores net 3-day opening weekend and around 25 crores extended weekend which will still be below expectations. ## Stay tuned...
