Mumbai, June 10 - Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has become the highest-grossing Monsterverse film ever, beating 2017's Kong Skull Island, at the worldwide box office.## Directed by Adam Wingard, Godzilla x Kong has surpassed Skull Island, which grossed $568.6 million at $570 million (4760 crores). The latest blockbuster has minted $196.3 million (1640 crores) in North America and $373.7 million (2120 crores) at the overseas box office. ## Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the highest-grossing MonsterVerse film in as many as 35 markets, including India where it has grossed 134 crores ($16 million). It is currently the highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2024 in India, way ahead of second-ranked Kung Fu Panda 4 which has earned around 50 crores gross. ## It is also the second-highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2024 at the worldwide box office, after Dune: Part 2 which is the number 1 with approximately $712 million. Mumbai, June 9 - Will Smith's action comedy Bad Boys: Ride or Die crushed the projection to score $100+ million opening weekend at the worldwide box office. The R-rated flick is the fourth instalment of the Bad Boys series of buddy cop films. ## Directed by Adil & Bilall, Bad Boys 4 has had a strong 3-day opening weekend domestically (North America) with $56 million (470 crores). It is the second-biggest first weekend in the franchise, behind only Bad Boys For Life which opened at $62.5 million in 2020.## Overseas, the movie grossed a solid $48.6 million (405 crores) over 60 markets, pushing worldwide opening weekend to $104.6 million (875 crores). It is the biggest debut in the franchise, Bad Boys For Life ($97.8 million). The movie was projected to earn $70 million - $80 million before release. ## Made on a budget of $100 million, Bad Boys 4 received an A- CinemaScore. Mumbai, June 9 - Director Subhash Kapoor's courtroom comedy drama Jolly LLB 3 starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi is one of the most anticipated Bollywood movies and the makers are bringing the other actors from the previous two films to headline the third instalment. ## A couple of weeks ago, it was revealed that Huma Qureshi, who was a part of Jolly LLB 2 with Akshay Kumar, returned to reprise her role as Pushpa Mishra and now, actress Amrita Rao has also come on board to play her part in the film. ## Amrita Rao played the female lead in the first movie opposite Arshad Warsi and now she will be reprising her role as Sandhya. According to Hindustan Times, "Amrita is returning as Arshad's wife in Jolly LLB 3, continuing their story from the first part. With her entry, it's a complete unification of Jolly LLB 1 and 2 cast".## Saurabh Shukla, who was in both the previous movies, will continue his character in the third one as Judge Sunderlal Tripathi. Los Angeles, June 9 - The pre-sales of Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD is on the rampage mode in North America. The advance booking of the movie was opened on June 6 and since then, it has been trending exceptionally well with limited showcasing so far.## The pre-sales of this sci-fi epic have crossed $500K (4.25 crores) in North America for the premiere which will take place on June 26. Mumbai, June 8 - Maddock Films' production, Munjya is proving all the projections wrong with excellent trends at the box office. The movie opened above expectations on the opening day with approximately 4 crores net and is showing over 60% jump on the second day. ## It was anticipated that the growth on the second would be there but it wouldn't be big due to the lower ticket prices. However, the movie proved all calculations wrong to score an estimated 6.50-7 crores net collection on the first Saturday. ## The total collection of the film is around 10.50+ crores net in two days as the opening weekend is looking to be around 18-20 crores net which is way above the pre-release projections. It will be interesting to see if the movie could touch 20 crores net this weekend as there is the cricket world Cup match of India against Pakistan which may impact the night shows. ## The hold on Monday will be crucial for the film though it is in a fantastic position to score well beyond the weekend as it has found acceptance among its target audiences. Mumbai, June 8 - Earlier this year, it was reported that Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor would be headlining OMG 2 director Amit Rai's next film on the legendary warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Now, the makers have initiated talks with other actors to come on board. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Amit Rai and his team are in talks with Telugu actor Rana Daggubati to play the role of Aurangzeb in the historical drama film. The actor is said to be the top priority of the makers, however, the logistics need to fall in place for the actor to come on board the film. ## It is said that the movie will chronicle key chapters of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's life and the makers plan to treat it as a thriller, as the backdrop of the feature film is more on the lines of a jail-break by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the era gone by rather than treating it as a biopic. ## The shoot of the movie is expected to commence by the end of this year or early 2025. Shahid, meanwhile, will next be seen in director Rosshan Andrrews' action thriller Deva, scheduled to release in October 2024. Mumbai, June 8 - Legendary Amitabh Bachchan is all set to play the role of God in the sequel to the 2022 Gujarati movie Fakt Mahilao Maate in which Big B played a prominent role. ## In the sequel, titled Fakt Purusho Maate, Big B will play the cameo role of a God. The family drama is based on the social themes of gender equality and conflict between generations. Jay Bodas who directed the first movie, will helm the sequel with Parth Trivedi. ## This isn't the first time Big B has stepped into the shoes of God for a film. He previously played God in Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra's God Tussi Great Ho (2008).## Fakt Purusho Maate is produced by Anand Pandit and Vaishal Shah and it stars Yash Soni, Mitra Gadhvi, Esha Kansara and Darshan Jariwala. Amitabh Bachchan shot for his cameo on June 6 in the movie which will be released on Janmashtami 2024. ## Fakt Mahilao Maate, which was released in August 2022, was a big box office success with a gross collection of over 20 crores. Mumbai, June 7 - The most-anticipated film in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe is Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted Stree 2 which is the sequel to 2018's Stree. The movie is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios. ## The industry is waiting for the response to Stree 2 which will be released in August this year. Meanwhile, the makers are gearing up to launch the movie's teaser soon after completing the censorship formalities yesterday. ## It is learned that the teaser of Stree 2 was censored on June 7 and it received a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved runtime of 1 minute and 23 seconds. The release date of the teaser is yet to be announced. ## Stree was the first film in Maddock Supernatural Universe, followed by Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya. It remains the highest-grossing film in Maddock's horror-comedy universe so far with a worldwide collection of over 180 crores.## The sequel, which is the 5th movie in the series, stars Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana as they reprise their roles from the first movie. Mumbai, June 8 - Director Aditya Sarpotdar's Munjya has taken the third-best opening in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe after performing way above expectations. It is the 4th movie in the studio's successful Supernatural Universe after Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), and Bhediya (2022).## Starring Sharvari Wagh, Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, and Sathyaraj in the key roles, Munjya scored approximately 4 crores net on its opening day, including the previews. In the horror-comedy universe, it is the third-best start after Bhediya (7.50 crores net) and Stree (6.82 crores net). Roohi scored 2.90 crores during the COVID-19 pandemic. ## Munjya, despite no face value, surprised the trade which was expecting an opening day in the range of 2 crores net. The trailer of the movie was well received, plus its connection with the previous films in the franchise and affordable ticket prices, collectively boosted its box office prospects. ## The fantastic opening of Munjya is good news for Stree 2, which is scheduled to release in August this year. Mumbai, June 7 - The latest entry in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, Munjya surprises with a better-than-expected opening at the domestic box office, thanks to the lower-than-normal ticket prices which boosted its prospects. ## The movie has less face value but its connection with the horror-comedy universe, plus reasonable ticket prices seem to have worked wonders as it has taken the opening of 3.50-3.75 crores net, as per the early estimates, which wasn't looking a possibility before the release. ## Munjya scored a decent pre-sales which indicated the opening in the range of 2 crores net but credit should be given to the makers for opting for non-popular prices. The initial word of mouth also seems to be on the positive side which pushes the collection beyond 3 crores net. ## The opening weekend collection of Munjya could well be 13-15 crores net which is a good total.
