Mumbai, June 7 - The latest entry in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, Munjya surprises with a better-than-expected opening at the domestic box office, thanks to the lower-than-normal ticket prices which boosted its prospects. ## The movie has less face value but its connection with the horror-comedy universe, plus reasonable ticket prices seem to have worked wonders as it has taken the opening of 3.50-3.75 crores net, as per the early estimates, which wasn't looking a possibility before the release. ## Munjya scored a decent pre-sales which indicated the opening in the range of 2 crores net but credit should be given to the makers for opting for non-popular prices. The initial word of mouth also seems to be on the positive side which pushes the collection beyond 3 crores net. ## The opening weekend collection of Munjya could well be 13-15 crores net which is a good total. It will then depend on the hold on Monday which will give an idea about where is heading. ## Stay tuned...

Hyderabad, June 7 - Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu-fronted Kannappa teaser set to be digitally launched on June 14. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the teaser was earlier premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year. ## Produced by Mohan Babu through his companies AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, the movie is based on the legend of Kannappa, a devotee of lord Shiva. Mumbai, June 7 - John Abraham-starrer action drama Vedaa release date has been postponed to Independence Day 2024. The movie is directed by Nikkhil Advani and it marks his second collaboration with Abraham as a director after Batla House. ## Vedaa was supposed to be released on July 12, 2024, but the makers have now set an August 15 release. This means the movie will be clashing with the hugely-awaited Pan India movie, Pushpa 2 - The Rule, starring superstar Allu Arjun. ## Reportedly inspired by true events, Vedaa depicts the bravery of one person challenging a draconian system in an uprising. It follows a young woman's fight for justice, guided by a man who becomes her ally. Los Angeles, June 7 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD is heading for a guaranteed massive start at the USA box office after the excellent response in the pre-sales which opened on June 6. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, the pre-sales rampage of the sci-fi epic has begun as it has already scored approximately $700K (5.85 crores) from 1391 shows in 337 locations, with 22729 tickets sold for premiers, according to Venky Box Office. The premiere will take place on June 26. ## The major theatres are reporting fast-filling status as the pre-sales are expected to grow over the next few days as more shows are opening gradually. Hyderabad, June 7 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's gangster action thriller OG is one of the most anticipated films. It is directed by Sujeeth whose last directorial was Prabhas-fronted Pan India flick Saaho back in 2019. ## OG has been scheduled to be released in September this year, however, the latest reliable reports have confirmed that it will be postponed to 2025 as the shoot is still pending due to Pawan Kalyan's political commitments. ## Meanwhile, the makers have reportedly locked the post-theatrical streaming deal for OG. Chandigarh, June 6 - Actress turned-politician, Kangana Ranaut was slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) woman constable at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday, according to a report by NDTV. ## Kangana Ranaut was elected as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from the Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh on the Bhartiya Janata Party ticket. The actress was about to board a flight to Delhi from Chandigarh airport when the incident happened at around 3 PM today. ## It is alleged that Kangana was moving towards the boarding area at the airport to travel to Delhi when the CISF official, Kulwinder Kaur, allegedly argued with her and slapped her. The constable has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur. The CISF Commandant has taken note of the incident and is questioning the constable, per NDTV. ## Kangana won the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh when the results were declared on June 4. The movie is directed by Nag Ashwin and also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. ## Kalki 2898 AD will be distributed by Prathyangira Cinemas in the USA and Canada. The studio confirmed that the movie will be released in IMAX format across the USA (Telugu version) and Canada (Hindi version) for premieres and one show on Day 1. ## The movie has also been confirmed to be released in India and worldwide on IMAX as the official confirmation regarding the same was made on June 11 by IMAX.
