Kochi, May 16 - Malayalam cinema is unstoppable in 2024 with back-to-back big successes and the latest to join this race is Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph's comedy-drama Guruvayoorambala Nadayil which has taken a very good start at the domestic box office. ## Directed by Vipin Das, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil has taken the opening of 4+ crores gross in India, one of the biggest openings for a Malayalam title of the year. It has taken a bigger opening than Manjummel Boys which is currently the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time at the domestic and worldwide box office. ## At the Kerala box office, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is estimated to open around 3.50 crores gross and it could go higher when the final collection comes. The movie scored good advances but with solid audience reception makes the day even better. ## It will be interesting to see how the movie performs going forward but the prospects look bright at the moment with super positive reports all over. Mumbai, May 16 - In 2023, music composer Anirudh collaborated with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for the action thriller Jawan, directed by Atlee Kumar. The movie was a huge box office success and Anirudh's BGM got high praise among the mass audiences. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, Anirudh is set to reunite with SRK for his next film titled King. To be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, King will mark SRK's daughter Suhana Khan's big-screen debut. ## "King is a one of its kind action thriller, that will introduce a new flavour of action to the audience. Shah Rukh Khan, Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh understand the importance of BGM for a film in this space and have roped in the best in business – Anirudh", says the report. ## King is produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix. The pre-production is happening in full swing and the makers are aiming to take the movie on floors by August this year. The movie is likely to be announced with a proper video for which Anirudh is working on BGM.## As reported earlier, Shah Rukh Khan will be playing the role of a don in the movie. Initially, he was supposed to play the extended cameo but now will be the main lead with Suhana Khan as his protege. Mumbai, May 16 - After kicking off the promotional campaign with the first look poster on May 15, the makers have launched the second poster of Kartik Aaryan-fronted biographical sports drama film Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. ## The new poster shows Kartik Aaryan turning into a boxer which is another side of the character he is playing. As said, the movie is inspired by the real-life story of India's first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, a man who faced one adversary after another with an undying spirit. His unwavering zeal and never-give-up attitude led to India's first individual gold medal in any form of the Olympics.## Kartik took to social media to share the new poster of the movie of which the trailer will be launched on May 18 in the actor's hometown, Gwalior. Mumbai, May 16 - Producer Bhushan Kumar has shared an update on a rumoured romantic film featuring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri who were supposed to headline the third instalment of the Aashiqui franchise which has now been put on hold indefinitely.## After Aashiqui 3 got cancelled, Bhushan Kumar's T-Series confirmed that director Anurag Basu would be working on another film with Kartik and Triptii and now, the filmmaker has confirmed the same and said that it will go on floors in July this year. ## During a recent interview (via Bollywood Hungama), Bhushan Kumar said, "We are not making Aashiqui right now but we are working on another movie which we are starting in July. It'll be directed by Anurag Basu. When we were making Aashiqui 3, it was not working out. So, now we are making another romantic movie which Anurag Dada is directing. Kartik and Triptii are a part of it". ## It is to be noted that Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri are already playing the lead pair in the third instalment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa which is scheduled to release on Diwali this year. Mumbai, May 15 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn-fronted supernatural horror thriller Shaitaan has emerged as a big success for Netflix after concluding its box office run with over 200 crores gross worldwide. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan jumped by over 100% in its second week (May 6 - May 12) to score 6.6 million views. The movie scored 3.2 million views in its opening weekend on Netflix and allied to the second week, the total viewership reached 9.8 million views in 10 days. ## Shaitaan was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide during the week of May 6 - May 12 on Netflix. It is currently trending in the top 10 in 26 countries, including number 1 India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bahrain, Pakistan, Maldives, Oman, Bangladesh, and Mauritius. ## Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapata Ladies continued to be in the top 5 most watched non-Engish titles on Netflix for the third consecutive week. Mumbai, May 15 - Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar: Season 1 didn't show any improvement in the viewership in its first full week after the underwhelming 5-day opening weekend viewership. ## The period drama show, which started streaming on May 1st, scored 4.5 million views in its opening weekend (April 29 - May 5) which was underwhelming given the massive budget of over 200 crores. With not-so-encouraging reviews and audience reception, the viewership dipped in the second week.## In the week of May 6 - May 12, Heeramandi scored 4 million views, pushing its total viewership to 8.5 million views and 62.3 million viewing hours in 12 days. The show, however, continued to remain the second most-watched non-English series on Netflix for the second week in a row. ## The series is trending in the top 10 in 32 countries in its second week. It is currently the number-one show in India, along with UAE, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Oman, Pakistan, Bahrain, Morocco, Mauritius, Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bangladesh. ## The series is about the lives of tawaifs in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. Pictures has officially set a release date for the martial arts fantasy film, Mortal Combat 2, a sequel to 2021's Mortal Kombat and the fourth instalment in the Mortal Kombat film series.## Based on the video game franchise Mortal Kombat created by John Tobias and Ed Boon, Mortal Combat 2 will be hitting theatres on October 24, 2025, in IMAX. Mumbai, May 14 - In October last year, Sunny Deol announced his reunion with veteran director Rajkumar Santoshi for a period action drama film, titled Lahore 1947. Aamir Khan is bankrolling this project which is said to be based on Asghar Wajahat's acclaimed Punjabi play, "Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai".## The shoot of the film, which also stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and Mona Singh in key roles, is going on at a brisk pace and according to the report by Pinkvilla, the entire filming is expected to be wrapped by the end of June this year with nearly a month of the shoot left. ## It is said that Lahore 1947 is loaded with drama and emotions as larger-than-life elements arise out of the dramatic moments and characterization. Meanwhile, the makers are targeting the Republic Day 2025 release as already speculated.
