Los Angeles, May 4 - Warner Bros. Pictures' post-apocalyptic action adventure film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is ready to roll its arm at the box office coming 24 May. The prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) could be a winner as per the early box office projection. ## According to Deadline, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth-fronted blockbuster is tracking to earn $40 million - $50 million over the 4-day domestic opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. The report says that it could edge out Sony/Alcon Entertainment's animated Garfield which is tracking a $35 million opening in the same weekend. ## Deadline reports that Furiosa has the benefit of being an Imax and PLFs and a Cannes Film Festival world premiere as a global loudspeaker which gives it a shot at $40+ million start from earlier projection of $30+ million, same as Garfield. ## Directed by George Miller, Furiosa could also turn into a surprise winner at the Indian box office. Mad Max: Fury Road grossed around 15 crores in India in 2015. In recent times, Hollywood movies have done well in India and with Chris Hemsworth, who has a genuine fan following among the Indian audiences, Furiosa could start well. Mumbai, May 3 - Superstar Yash has commenced the filming of his first film since the mega-blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2 (2022). Titled Toxic, the movie is being directed by National-award winning filmmaker Geetu Mohandas and produced by Yash under his banner Monster Mind Creations in association with KVN Productions. ## Toxic is a pan-India movie and the makers are in the process of locking a blockbuster casting from across industries. Kiara Advani has been roped in to play the female lead opposite Yash. Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor was supposed to play the role of Yash's sister in the movie but there seem to be some changes. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Kareena Kapoor has opted out from Toxic due to the date issues and the makers are now in advanced talks with lady superstar Nayanthara to play the role. It is said that Nayanthara has shown her interest in doing Toxic and the logistics are being figured out at this point. ## Toxic is a keenly-awaited film that is touted to be a solid content-driven film with mass elements. Apart from Kiara and Nayanthara, the movie will feature strong female characters which will be revealed soon. The movie was officially announced in December last year and the shoot began recently. Chennai, May 3 - Thalapathy Vijay's sports action drama film Ghilli is having an excellent re-run and has broken into the 30 crores mark at the worldwide box office. It is already one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of the year. ## The movie has grossed around 24.25 crores in India in 13 days so far. From the second Monday-Thursday (4 days), it minted approximately 4-4.25 crores gross which is an excellent hold. At the overseas box office, the blockbuster has grossed approximately 6.50 crores, pushing the total worldwide collection to around 30.75 crores gross. ## Ghilli will cross Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam's lifetime collection of 33 crores in the coming days to become the 3rd highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 at the worldwide box office. It has already crossed Lal Salaam's domestic total of 21 crores. ## As reported earlier, Ghilli is already the highest-grossing re-release film in India in the 21st century, after beating James Cameron's Avatar 3D which minted 18 crores back in 2012. Mumbai, May 3 - Heist comedy Crew is heading for a finish of over 80 crores net after the solid hold in its 5th week. Starring Tabu, Kriti Sanon, and Kareena Kapoor, the movie is getting benefitted from the lean phase of new movies. ## Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, Crew minted approximately 3 crores net, dropping around 24% in its 5th week. The movie had the strongest hold in the last week in its box office run so far and it is expected to maintain the same trend in the next couple of weeks. ## The total net collection of the film is approximately 78.80 crores while the gross collection is around 93.25 crores in 35 days. Overseas, Crew has grossed an estimated 55 crores, pushing the total worldwide cume to over 148 crores. Mumbai, May 3 - Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapataa Ladies was released theatrically on March 1st before going to digital after the 8 weeks of the box office run. However, in a positive indication, the movie witnessed a minor jump in its 9th week after the OTT release. ## Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies has been hailed as one of the best Indian films of 2024 but the lack of star power proved a roadblock in its box office journey. However, after the spread of word of mouth due to the OTT release, the movie has witnessed an upward trend at the box office. ## In its 9th week, the rural comedy-drama jumped by around 10% but the overall collection remained low with approximately 37 lakh. The total collection of the film is approximately 18 crores net (21.25 crores gross) after 9 weeks and seeing the positive trend in the collection in the last week, it might have a chance to top 20 crores net in the full run. ## Recently, Vikrant Massey's 12th Fail also witnessed the same trend where its collection jumped after the OTT release for three consecutive weeks and the same can be seen with Laapataa Ladies. The title song, Pushpa Pushpa was launched on May 1st and witnessed a fantastic response all over. ## According to the makers, the song recorded 40+ million real-time views and 26.6+ million updated views in the first 24 hours on YouTube in all languages which makes it India's most viewed lyrical song during the said time. Mumbai, May 2 - Maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli is coming up with the animated series Baahubali: Crown of Blood, based on the hugely successful Baahubali film franchise. The series has been set to stream on Disney+Hotstar. ## Created by Rajamouli and Sharad Devarajan, produced by Rajamouli, Devarajan and Shobu Yarlagadda and directed and produced by Jeevan J. Kang and Navin John, Baahubali: Crown of Blood will start streaming on May 17 on Disney Plus Hotstar. ## Set before the events of the two films, the animated series will focus on Baahubali and Bhallaladeva who join hands to protect the kingdom of Mahishmati and the throne against its greatest threat, the mysterious warlord known only as Raktadeva.## Rajamouli said (via Variety), "The world of Baahubali is vast, and the film franchise was the perfect introduction to the same. Hyderabad, May 1 - Superstar Prabhas' action drama film Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire is set to pack a punch at the Japanese theatres this July. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the movie has been confirmed to release in Japan on July 5 in the dubbed version. ## Salaar: Ceasefire will be released by distribution company Twin in the island country. The company unveiled the official Japanese poster and and special promo teaser.
