Kochi, September 16 - The Malayalam film industry scripted history last year by unclocking the 300 crores milestone and with three films out of the total 4 titles in the 200 crores club at the worldwide box office. Mohanlal's Empuraan had beaten Manjummal Boys to become the biggest Malayalam grosser, but the record didn't last long, losing to a superhero title. Kalyani Priyadarshan's superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra was on a mission to complete the unfinished work, as it became the biggest Malayalam blockbuster of all time by beating the mighty Mohanlal, and eventually went on to become the first Malayalam film ever to cross 300 crores worldwide. Hyderabad, April 21 - Legendary Amitabh Bachchan will be playing the role of the immortal Ashwatthama in director Nag Ashwin's futuristic sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas in the title role alongside Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan. ## On April 21, the makers unveiled the first look glimpse into the character of Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama. The teaser also gives a glimpse of the de-ageing technology used for Big B's character in which a younger version of him appears. ## ## Kalki 2898 AD is directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies. The movie was supposed to be released on May 9 but has been postponed due to the general elections. Kochi, April 21 - Prithviraj Sukumaran's survival thriller Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life is climbing to new heights at the worldwide box office despite slowing down with each passing day. ## After becoming the third highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time, beating Pulimurugan, Aadujeevitham has now become only the third Mollywood title ever to reach the 150 crores mark at the global box office. ## Directed by Blessy, the film grossed over 151+ crores worldwide in 25 days and crossed the 150 crores gross mark. Chennai, April 21 - Thalapathy Vijay's one of the biggest blockbusters, sports action film Ghilli has had a re-release worldwide on April 20 and the response has been the same as it was 20 years ago when the movie opened to houseful boards in theatres. ## There has been a dearth of box office successes for Tamil cinema this year, and filmmakers and distributors have been re-releasing older blockbusters to get some sort of outcome. Thalapathy Vijay is easily the biggest name in Tamil cinema and with the re-release of the film, he proved his box office pull once again. ## As far as the tracked collection is concerned, Ghilli scored 3.40 crores gross in India, and as per the estimates, it minted a fantastic approximately 7.75 crores gross at the worldwide box office, including around 4.75 crores in India and 3 crores overseas which is higher than most of the new releases featuring bankable stars not just in Tamil but in other languages.## Among the South Indian re-releases, Ghilli had the biggest opening, beating Mahesh Babu's Business Man which scored around 5.25 crores gross worldwide. Jr. NTR's Simhadri is at number 3 with around 4 crores worldwide opening.## In its original box office run back in 2004, Ghilli grossed over 40 crores worldwide (as per Wikipedia) against a budget of around 8 crores and was one of the biggest Indian hits of that year. Mumbai, April 21 - Yash Raj Films' War (2019) was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and the dance number Jai Jai Shiv Shankar featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff emerged as one of the biggest chartbuster songs in recent times. ## The sequel to War has already gone on floors with Ayan Mukerji directing this time. Hrithik Roshan is reprising his role while Telugu superstar Jr. NTR making his Hindi debut with War 2. NTR's Naatu Naatu song in his last film RRR which went on to win Oscars proved to be a rage worldwide and now, the duo of Hrithik and Jr. NTR is set to feature in a dance number in the upcoming movie. ## According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the two stars will have a dance face-off in War 2 as the makers have organically come up with a situation in the film where both of them will be seen dancing to a massy song along the lines of Jai Jai Shiv Shankar and Naatu Naatu. Mumbai, April 20 - Director Kabir Khan's comedy-drama Bajrangi Bhaijaan is one of the most loved films of superstar Salman Khan. Released in 2015, the movie won several accolades and was a big box office blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of over 900 crores. ## The film was a massive success and won the hearts of the audiences with its emotional story, penned by Vijayendra Prasad. Salman Khan delivered an emotionally charged career-best performance in the film and now, there is good news regarding its long-awaited sequel. ## Over the last few years, there have been talks about Bajrangi Bhaijaan's sequel and it seems it will finally be a reality soon. During a promotional event for actor Ayush Sharma's film Ruslaan, producer KK Radhamohan said in the presence of Vijayendra Prasad that the script of BB2 is ready to which the writer agreed. ## The filmmaker further revealed that Vijayendra Prasad will narrate the script of the sequel to Salman Khan soon and if all goes well, the production will start soon. However, he noted that he isn’t producing Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2.## Apart from Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, producer Radhamohan also revealed that the writer has written two stories for him, and one of them is Vikramarkudu 2, which is Rowdy Rathore 2 in Hindi. Kochi, April 19 - Malayalam cinema's biggest ever romantic-comedy blockbuster Premalu will get a sequel for 2025 release, the makers officially announced during the success meet on April 19. ## Girish AD, who wrote and directed the original, will be returning to helm the sequel along with the lead pair of Naslen and Mamitha Baiju. Bhavan Studios in association with Fahadh Faasil and Friends and Working Class Hero will produce it. ## Premalu is the fifth highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time at the worldwide box office. Los Angeles, April 19 - Zack Snyder's epic space opera Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is getting ripped apart by critics as far as the initial response is concerned, just like the first part. ## After the disastrous response to the first movie, Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire, critics are calling its sequel even worse in terms of story as early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are the worst ever for Zack Snyder's directorial. ## Rebel Moon - Part 2 started streaming on Netflix on April 19 and the current critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes is just 18% of 61 reviews. If the initial response stays (which is very likely), it is another shocker for Snyder who is planning to make four more films in the same franchise. ## It is to be noted that Rebel Moon - A Child of Fire was also slammed by critics as its Rotten Tomatoes score is just 21% from 173 reviews. Mumbai, April 19 - Yami Gautam-fronted political thriller Article 370 has completed its box office journey with a worldwide collection of over 100 crores gross, turning out to be a bonafide success. ## Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 was released on February 23 with favourable critics' reviews and audience word of mouth. It took a good opening of around 6 crores net, followed by the opening week of around 35.50 crores net. ## After the good first week, the movie showed a stronghold in the second week with a drop of just 37% for 22.30 crores net and it continued to show the same trend over the next few weeks despite the arrival of new films. The movie managed to go past 75 crores net which is a very good result. ## Overseas, Article 370 was decent with around 12.50 crores gross collection, for a worldwide total of around 105 crores. The movie is currently the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood title of the year at the worldwide box office. Mumbai, April 19 - It was a super low turnaround at the box office on Eid 2024 as both tentpole films, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, bombed without making much noise. ## Ajay Devgn-fronted sports biopic Maidaan received a positive reception from critics as well as from audiences, however, it was all doom and gloom at the box office for the movie. In its extended 8-day first week, the movie scored low approximately 28.35 crores net. ## Overseas, Maidaan remained poor with an estimated 7 crores gross collection, for around 40.50 crores worldwide total. Just like BMCM, Maidaan also turned out to be one of the biggest Bollywood box office failures featuring top stars of the country with high costs involved in the films. ## With nothing much left in the tank, Maidaan is heading towards finishing below 60 crores gross at the worldwide box office which will make it Ajay Devgn's third lowest grosser after Thank God and Runway 34 since the covid-19 pandemic. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, April 19 - Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-fronted Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has had a disappointing first-week collection at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. Despite the Eid release and strong cast and crew, the movie failed to cash in on the opportunity. ## Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the action thriller scored a little under 50 crores net collection in all versions, including an estimated 49.25 crores in Hindi in the extended 8-day first week. Ideally, for a film like BMCM, this should have been a 2-day collection. ## At the overseas box office, BMCM was released through Yash Raj Films but the response was underwhelming as it scored an estimated 27 crores in the first week. Adding to the domestic gross collection of approximately 59.50 crores, the movie grossed 86.50 crores worldwide which is a very poor total. ## BMCM is heading for a finish under 125 crores worldwide against a budget of over 300 crores, turning into a big failure at the box office.
