Chennai, Jan 19 (IANS) Well-known Tamil and Malayalam actress Amala Paul says Pushpdeep Bharadwaj, director of the Hindi web series, 'Ranjish Hi Sahi', is someone who embodies his art. Paul plays the character inspired by yesteryear's Bollywood heroine Parveen Babi in the series.## Taking to social media to pen a long, heartfelt note to her 'Ranjish Hi Sahi' team, Amala Paul said: "It is not every day that you meet someone who embodies their art, but I was fortunate enough to meet one, and that was Pushpdeep Bhardwaj -- the director and screenplay writer of 'Ranjish Hi Sahi'.## "What followed the four hours of intense narration from Pushpadeep was a girl who was reminded why she chose to be an actor all over again. Every word that came from him was art in its best form. All I knew at the end of this narration was that I had to do this. I had to be Amna Parvez," the actress said, sharing a clip of her screen test.## "This footage is a scene from the screen test -- I knew I had to bag this character from the word go.## "As I type this, all I can think of are the memories that come along like a breath of fresh air. Los Angeles, Jan 18 (IANS) Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for its Disney Plus series 'Moon Knight' and it has a new superhero played by actor Oscar Isaac.## The teaser was unveiled on Monday night, officially launching the 2022 slate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reports variety.com.## In 'Moon Knight' premiering on March 30, Isaac plays Marc Spector, a former soldier with a profound case of dissociative identity disorder that manifests as fully distinct individuals. He becomes the conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, which only further exacerbates Marc's anxiety over his mental illness.## In the trailer, set to Kid Cudi's 'Day an' Night', Marc can't tell the difference between his normal life and his dreams. He plays with a Rubik's cube, unable to fall asleep, only to jump out of bed in a panic with his foot chained to his bed, though he seemingly forgets he was the one who restrained himself the night before. Mumbai, Jan 15 (IANS) 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' star Aamna Sharif will be seen playing DSP Rashmi Singh in the psychological thriller web series 'Damaged 3'. The trailer is out and the actress says she has given her best to play this challenging role.## Talking about the process of getting into the skin of her character, Sharif said: "I have never played a cop on the screen, and it was challenging to essay it. To get it correct, I had taken acting workshops for the first time".## The actress added about the difficulties and how she managed to overcome them while playing a character that is completely opposite to her real self.## "Rashmi is the exact opposite to me in real life. So to understand her and her psyche better, I started dressing up like her a few days before going on the floors. I even isolated myself to get into the skin of my character. But at its core, it also shows us the degradation of the human race.## Shot on a lavish scale with ace production values, brilliant camera work, and adrenaline-pumping background score, the series begins with a scene where we are shown dead guinea pigs surreptitiously discarded into a water body and later a victim of a clinical drug trial suffering. Then we are transported to Manthan, a multi-specialty hospital run by the ace neurosurgeon Dr. Gauri Nath, which is the center of this narrative.## Running parallel to the events at Manthan is the subplot of Mangu, who works in the local civic morgue and is the ambitious son of a rickshaw driver. In his endeavor to make some extra money, he is lured to recruit people for clinical drug trials. He enrolls his parents in the scheme, and soon his mother who suffers from comorbidities is affected by the after-effects of the drugs and is in a serious condition.## His path crosses with Dr. Saira Sabharwal, the efficient and capable cardiac surgeon, a new entrant at Manthan who is also the apple of Dr. Gauri Nath's eye.## When Dr. Saira realizes that something is amiss with the drug trials conducted in the hospital and tries to bring it to Dr. Gauri's attention, she stumbles upon things much sinister and beyond her comprehension.## What makes this series appealing is its well-etched but flawed characters, some with more than skewed emotional issues plaguing them. Also, the plot dives deep into the complex web of emotions and thoughts of the key characters where lies and deception are a part of their daily living.## The chatter between the characters does not take away from the show the visible effort and meticulousness put into crafting each shot which appears candid and natural. The series is skilfully written, astutely mounted, and incredibly well-acted.## Shefali Shah is a brilliant performer, and as Dr. Gauri Nath, she is an enigma that unravels effortlessly. Ram Kapoor as Gauri's cuckold husband Pratap Munjal, is perfunctory and unimpressive. Seema Biswas in an underwritten, complex and convoluted role, as the cold and devious matron 'Roma Maa' is natural and menacing. Her ominous presence onscreen is unsettling.## Kriti Kulhari is simply understated, graceful, and effortless as the efficient Dr. Saira Sabharwal but a masterful liar and manipulator in her personal life who finds herself in a world that she can't control completely, and yet she has a conscience.## Indraneil Sengupta as Dr. Saira's husband Neil, Atul Kumar Mittal as Dr. Snehal Shinde, Gaurav Dwivedi as Dr. Vivek Shekhawat, Shruti Bapna as Dr. Shekhawat's wife Sucheta in minuscule roles leave their mark on the screen. Mohan Agashe as Mohan Vaidya, the founder of the pharma company, is wasted in a minor role.## On a different level, it is Vishal Jethwa as Mangu who steals the show. He enthralls the audience with his stained teeth and intense facial expressions. He is aptly supported by Pranali Ghogare as his sister Meena, Sushil Pandey as his father, and the rest of the supporting cast, who seemed to be playing an extension of themselves.## Overall, the series is fairly compelling.## Stay tuned...

Purva is the daughter of the local, all-powerful politician Akheraj Awasthi who would go to any length to keep his daughter happy.## Years later, circumstances make their paths meet when Vikrant after finishing his studies, is forced by his father to seek Akheraj's blessings and maybe a "job". Vikrant's father works as an accountant for Akheraj and is indebted to him on various grounds.## Vikrant unenthusiastically lands up at Akheraj's premise and by happenstance meets Purva, who ensures that her father offers him a job as the manager of her Zumba classes with a plump salary. Instead of getting elated, Vikrant is not happy because he can't fathom how he'd put his engineering education to use in a dead-end job.## Also, unbeknownst to his family, he is in love with his college mate Shikha Agarwal and dreams of settling with her in Bhilai, where he hopes to get a job.## So, the next day after promising Shikha that he would marry her, Vikrant goes to Akheraj's office intending to tell Akheraj that he is not interested in working for him. While he is there, he witnesses an event that repulses him. He then goes to Purva and tells her that he is not interested in working for her family, but the events that follow make it clear that he can't escape Purva's clutches.## So, he reluctantly accepts to work and later even marries Purva with the intention of revenge. How he attempts to break free from Purva and her family, forms the crux of the narrative. The characters are all well-etched, and the lines they mouth are refreshing at times may even be soapy that drives too many aspects of the dramatic narrative.## Tahir Raj Bhasin as Vikrant is impressive. You feel and root for him as he takes you through Vikrant's emotional journey from a simpleton to a determined lover wanting to marry the person he loves. Similarly striking are Vikrant's friend Golden, and Bijendra Kala, who essays his father. For a change, Kala brings his character to life with his charged histrionics. The rest of the cast backed by familiarity is sincere but passable.## On the writing front, the plot of the series is straightforward, with the screenplay often teasing at some outlandish possibilities. The pace of the telling keeps you hanging to the ledge. It is only the final episode with its abrupt ending that leaves you a bit disappointed, for it does not fulfill the promise it assured us in the first episode.## Stay tuned...

After being ignored by all major awards events in its three previous seasons, 'Yellowstone' picked up a nomination in the company of 'Succession', 'The Morning Show' and 'The Handmaid's Tale'.## One of the biggest shows on television, streaming on Prime Video in India, Paramount Network's 'Yellowstone' is set for a fifth season.
