Is Tony Stark/Iron Man Returning To The MCU? David Harbour Drops Major Avengers: Doomsday Hint

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 20 - Could Tony Stark make a surprise return in Avengers: Doomsday? The question has gained fresh momentum after David Harbour, who plays Red Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appeared to make a cryptic reference to the iconic Iron Man character. While Marvel has officially confirmed Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU, he is set to play Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers film. Harbour's latest remark, however, has fans wondering whether Marvel could be hiding a major Stark-related twist. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Tony Stark was killed off in Avengers: Endgame after sacrificing himself to defeat Thanos, bringing one of the MCU's most important character arcs to an emotional conclusion. A direct return of the same Tony Stark would therefore be a massive development. However, Avengers: Doomsday is expected to embrace the multiverse in a major way, potentially allowing alternate versions of established characters to appear without undoing the events of Endgame. The speculation intensified after Harbour revealed a line from Doomsday, "You are Tony Stark", during a recent conversation with Variety. The comment immediately caught the attention of Marvel fans, with many interpreting it as a possible hint toward an alternate Tony Stark, a multiversal variant or even a connection between Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom and his former MCU identity. At the same time, the remark alone does not confirm that Tony Stark will actually appear in the film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Robert Downey Jr.'s casting as Doctor Doom remains one of the biggest surprises in the next Avengers saga. Marvel has been extremely secretive about the film's storyline, and the studio could potentially be keeping additional major cameos under wraps. If an alternate-universe Tony Stark does appear, it would allow Marvel to bring back Downey Jr. in a familiar form while still preserving the significance of the original character's sacrifice. For now, Tony Stark's return remains unconfirmed, while Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Doctor Doom is official. Still, David Harbour's mysterious statement has added another layer to one of the biggest theories surrounding Avengers: Doomsday. If Marvel is indeed preparing an Iron Man surprise, fans may have to wait until the film's release to discover whether Tony Stark really returns—or whether Harbour's comment points toward something completely different. Doomsday is releasing on December 18 this year.

Avengers: Doomsday Advance Booking Races 65% Ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day As Marvel Eyes Another Big Opening

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 19 - Marvel is looking for another historic opening with Avengers: Doomsday already showing phenomenal demand months before its theatrical release. The upcoming Marvel event film has reportedly raced 65% ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in advance bookings in the domestic (North America) market, based on the first two days of general presales. The early trend is significant considering Brand New Day recorded the biggest opening in North America box office history. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) However, the comparison comes with an important difference in the booking timelines. Avengers: Doomsday began its advance sales around four months before its December 18 release, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened bookings much closer to its theatrical debut. Therefore, the current 65% lead should not necessarily be interpreted as a direct indication that Doomsday will open 65% higher, but it does underline the extraordinary level of early interest surrounding the next Avengers film. The momentum comes after Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to deliver a sensational worldwide run. The Tom Holland-led film has already crossed the $2 billion mark globally, becoming only the eighth film in history to reach the milestone. Its massive performance has once again demonstrated the strength of Marvel's biggest theatrical properties, with Avengers: Doomsday now looking to capitalise on that renewed enthusiasm for large-scale superhero events. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Adding to the anticipation is the film's enormous ensemble cast and the return of Robert Downey Jr., who will play the villainous Doctor Doom. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday brings together characters from different corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men. The combination of a major crossover storyline, the Russo Brothers and Downey Jr.'s return has made the film one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. With nearly months still remaining before its December 18 theatrical release, Avengers: Doomsday has plenty of time to build on its already impressive presales. If the current pace continues and expands as the release date approaches, Marvel could be heading toward another record-breaking opening. For now, the 65% lead over Spider-Man: Brand New Day provides an early indication that the next Avengers event could be on an entirely different level.

Disney Confirms 3 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Movies In 2028 With Release Dates

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 18 - Disney has officially locked in a packed 2028 theatrical slate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with three MCU movies now scheduled to hit cinemas during the year. The announcement further underlines Marvel Studios' plans to enter its next major phase following the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, with several highly anticipated franchises set to take centre stage. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The first major release will be Marvel Studios' X-Men, which is scheduled to arrive on May 5, 2028. The reboot was one of the biggest reveals at Disney's D23 event, where Marvel Studios officially unveiled its principal cast. Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, Kit Connor will portray Cyclops, Christopher Abbott will be Professor X, Inde Navarrette will play Rogue, Maya Boyd will portray Storm, Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost, and Adam Driver has been cast as Mister Sinister. The film will be directed by Jake Schreier. The second MCU release is Ryan Gosling's Ghost Rider, which has now been officially dated for July 28, 2028. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film will mark Gosling's MCU debut and will arrive less than three months after X-Men, giving Marvel two major releases during the summer movie season. The project had previously been listed as an untitled Marvel release before Disney formally attached the Ghost Rider title and date. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The third MCU movie is Black Panther 3, currently scheduled for December 15, 2028. Ryan Coogler will return to direct the upcoming superhero movie, with David Jonsson cast as the new Black Panther. At the same time, Letitia Wright is set to reprise her role as Shuri, alongside Winston Duke as M'Baku. The film's placement in the lucrative holiday corridor makes it one of the biggest theatrical bets on Disney's 2028 calendar. The three-film lineup means Marvel will have X-Men, Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3 arriving in the same calendar year. With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars leading into the post-Multiverse era, 2028 could therefore become a crucial year for the MCU. The arrival of the new X-Men alongside Ghost Rider and another Black Panther film suggests Marvel is preparing to expand its cinematic universe with a fresh generation of characters and franchises while continuing to rely on some of its most commercially powerful properties.

Top 5 Independence Day Weekend Grossers: Awarapan 2 Reigns Supreme As Vishwanath & Sons Scores Well Amid Batwara 1947 Failure

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 17 - The Independence Day 2026 weekend turned out to be a competitive one at the Indian box office, with multiple major releases fighting for audience attention. Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 emerged as the clear winner among the new releases, while Suriya's Vishwanath & Sons delivered an impressive opening weekend in the South. On the other hand, Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947 struggled to convert the massive Independence Day opportunity into a major box office result. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 1. Awarapan 2 – 98 crore India gross Awarapan 2 dominated the Independence Day weekend and finished its first three days with around 100 crore India gross, including 31.25 crore gross on Sunday. Its India net stood at around 81.75 crore, while the film also added 19 crore from overseas markets. The Emraan Hashmi-led sequel topped 117 crore worldwide, which is the biggest opening weekend ever for an Emraan Hashmi-starrer. 2. Vishwanath & Sons – 67.25 crore India gross Suriya's Vishwanath & Sons was another major winner during the holiday frame. The family drama collected 67.25 crore India gross in its opening weekend, with the film maintaining strong momentum across its key markets. Its overseas performance was particularly impressive, with the film collecting an estimated 43 crore from international markets by the end of Sunday, with its worldwide gross reaching 110 crore after the 3-day weekend. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 3. Batwara 1947 – 31.50 crore India gross Batwara 1947 had perhaps the most disappointing weekend among the major new releases. The Sunny Deol-led period drama managed 26.50 crore India net, translating into around 31.50 crore India gross over its first three days. After opening at 5.75 crore net, the film jumped strongly to 13.50 crore on Independence Day but dropped sharply to 7.25 crore on Sunday. The film's worldwide gross stood at approximately 37 crore by the end of the opening weekend. 4. Spider-Man: Brand New Day – Strong hold in Week 3 Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued to remain a major contributor to the Indian box office despite entering its third week. The Tom Holland-led Marvel film faced fresh competition from Awarapan 2 and other Independence Day releases but continued to attract substantial audiences by collecting around 27.50+ crore gross, pushing its total India gross to 558+ crores in 18 days. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 5. DC Movie – Continues to contribute to the market The fifth spot was occupied by Lokesh Kanagaraj's acting debut DC Movie, which continued to add to the Indian theatrical business during the holiday weekend. While its numbers were nowhere close to the two major new releases, it benefited from the overall surge in theatrical footfalls during the Independence Day period, collecting approximately 15 crores gross in its second weekend, pushing its total India gross to around 63 crores and worldwide to 84 crore in 10 days. The biggest takeaway from the Independence Day weekend is the contrasting fortunes of Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947. The former has completely seized the box office momentum, registering a near-100 crore India gross in only three days, while the latter has struggled despite Sunny Deol's star power and the massive holiday advantage. Meanwhile, Vishwanath & Sons has also emerged as the other major winner, particularly in the South and overseas markets.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Races Past $2 Billion Worldwide To Become First Spider-Man Movie To Do So

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 16 - Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Brand New Day has created history at the worldwide box office. The Tom Holland-led blockbuster has crossed the $2 billion mark globally, becoming the first Spider-Man movie in history to achieve the milestone. The film's extraordinary theatrical run has now taken it into one of the most exclusive clubs in cinema history. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The achievement is even more remarkable considering the speed at which Brand New Day has reached the milestone. The film has crossed $2 billion in just 20 days, making it the second-fastest movie ever to reach the $2 billion mark, behind only Avengers: Endgame, which achieved the feat in 11 days. Ne Zha 2 took 33 days, while Avatar: The Way of Water needed 39 days and Avatar took 47 days. The milestone represents a phenomenal turnaround for the Spider-Man franchise. Spider-Man: No Way Home previously stood as the highest-grossing Spider-Man film worldwide, finishing its theatrical run at around $1.92 billion. Brand New Day has now comfortably surpassed that figure by the third Sunday and has established a new franchise benchmark. It had already become one of the biggest theatrical successes of 2026 after crossing $1 billion worldwide in just six days. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film's journey to $2 billion has been powered by an extraordinary opening and strong legs across domestic and international markets. Brand New Day opened to around $941.8 million worldwide, including a record-breaking $360 million domestic (North America) opening weekend, before continuing its momentum through subsequent weeks. With the $2 billion milestone now achieved, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become only the 8th movie in the world to do so and has officially joined the most elite group in box-office history. More importantly, it becomes the first Spider-Man film to cross $2 billion worldwide, giving Tom Holland's superhero film a record that previous franchise entries could not achieve. Disney+ Lists 15 Marvel Projects You Must Watch Before Avengers: Doomsday

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 17 - With Avengers: Doomsday shaping up to be one of the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe events yet, Disney+ has officially revealed a list of essential projects that fans should watch before heading into the highly anticipated Avengers movie. The curated lineup brings together several major MCU entries as well as key projects from the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, highlighting the multiverse connections expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The official Disney+ guide features 15 movies and television seasons, beginning with X-Men (2000) and X2: X-Men United (2003). The list then moves through several major MCU milestones, including Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. It also includes both seasons of Loki, which are particularly important to the MCU's multiverse storyline. The remaining recommendations include Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The selection makes it clear that Marvel wants viewers to be familiar not only with the Avengers' history but also with the franchise's expanding multiverse and its newly integrated legacy characters. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Interestingly, Disney+'s list includes the original X-Men movies, Deadpool & Wolverine, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This suggests that the legacy Marvel universes will be significantly connected to Avengers: Doomsday, particularly with the return of several X-Men and Fantastic Four characters. Robert Downey Jr.'s transformation from Iron Man to the villainous Doctor Doom is another major storyline that is expected to drive the film. The absence of some other MCU titles, including The Marvels, is also noteworthy. While several projects have explored the multiverse or introduced characters who could potentially connect to Doomsday, Disney+ appears to have deliberately narrowed its recommendation list to the projects it considers most important for understanding the upcoming crossover. With Avengers: Doomsday scheduled to arrive on December 18, 2026, Marvel fans now have an official roadmap for their rewatch. Given the scale of the movie and its expected connections between the MCU, X-Men and Fantastic Four universes, the 15-project lineup could provide the essential groundwork before the Avengers return to the big screen.

MCU's X-Men Star Cast Revealed At D23: Sadie Sink, Inde Navarrette And Others Join Marvel's Mutant Saga

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 15 - Marvel Studios has finally pulled the curtain back on its highly anticipated X-Men reboot, revealing the principal cast at D23. After months of speculation and casting rumours, Kevin Feige introduced the new generation of mutants, officially setting the stage for the X-Men's full integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is being directed by Jake Schreier, who previously helmed Thunderbolts, and is scheduled to hit theatres on May 5, 2028. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The biggest names in the newly announced cast include Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm and Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier. Sink's casting had effectively been confirmed with her appearance as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while Connor had been linked to the project before the official D23 announcement. However, the biggest surprise of the night was Adam Driver, who will not play Magneto as previously speculated. Marvel confirmed that Driver is joining the film as Nathaniel Milbury, the human identity of Mister Sinister, one of the most dangerous villains associated with the X-Men comics. His casting gives the reboot a major star-powered antagonist and could potentially establish Mister Sinister as an important villain in the MCU's upcoming mutant storyline. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The new X-Men movie will mark Marvel Studios' first standalone theatrical X-Men film following Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The franchise is expected to become increasingly important to the MCU as Marvel moves beyond Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Several legacy X-Men stars, including Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, are also returning in Avengers: Doomsday, creating the possibility of the old and new mutant eras crossing paths before Marvel's new team takes centre stage. With Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Rogue, Emma Frost and Professor X now officially cast, Marvel has given fans their first clear picture of the next generation of mutants. The 2028 release is expected to be one of the studio's biggest post-Secret Wars projects, with the new X-Men potentially becoming the backbone of the MCU's next major saga.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Tops 525+ Crore Gross As It Eyes 575+ Crore Finish At The Indian Box Office

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 14 - Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has completed its second week on a sensational note at the Indian box office, with the Tom Holland-led superhero film grossing around 530 crore. It has already emerged as the highest-grossing non-Indian film and the first to cross 500 crore gross in the country, setting a new benchmark for Hollywood releases. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film has grossed around 130 crores in its second week, which is the biggest ever for a Hollywood film and one of the biggest at the Indian box office. However, the challenge for Brand New Day gets significantly tougher from here. The film is entering its third week with Awarapan 2, Batwara 1947 and Vishwanath And Sons arriving in cinemas and taking away a majority of the screens across the country. Despite the increased competition, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still maintaining a healthy run and is expected to make the most of the Independence Day weekend. The film has already demonstrated strong staying power, adding over 100 crore in its second week after an explosive opening week, and the national holiday period should help it remain relevant despite the reduced screen count. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The real test, however, will come after the Independence Day weekend. Once the holiday boost is over and the new releases settle in, it remains to be seen whether Spider-Man 4 can continue to score at the lower level with fewer shows and screens. At this point, though, the film has enough momentum and a sufficiently strong base to target a 575 crore-plus gross finish in India. If it manages to hold well beyond the weekend, an even bigger lifetime total cannot be ruled out.

Spider-Man has always held a special place in the hearts of Indian cinema-goers, and the latest outing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is proving why this franchise remains a dominant force at the box office. After a high-octane start, the film has now entered its second week, showing the kind of steady performance that characterizes a long-term blockbuster. As we look at the numbers for the second Wednesday, the buzz remains healthy even as the initial frenzy begins to settle into a consistent theatrical run. On its fourteenth day, the film brought in a net collection of ₹6.45 Cr across India. To give you some context, this is a 24.1 percent drop from the previous day's collection of ₹8.50 Cr. While a dip is expected as we head deeper into the weekdays, the film managed to maintain a respectable presence across 12,602 shows nationwide. This latest addition brings the total India net collection to a massive ₹438.00 Cr, with the total India gross collections standing at ₹523.64 Cr so far. These figures place the movie in an elite bracket of Hollywood releases in the country. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Looking at the language-wise breakdown for Day 14, the English version continues to lead the pack with ₹3.25 Cr. The Hindi market is not far behind, contributing ₹2.75 Cr. Regional markets like Tamil and Telugu added ₹0.30 Cr and ₹0.15 Cr respectively. If we take a step back and look at the overall journey, the English version has netted ₹239.25 Cr to date, while the Hindi version has crossed the ₹150 Cr mark, currently sitting at ₹158.40 Cr. Other regional versions, including Tamil at ₹23.25 Cr, Telugu at ₹16.30 Cr, Malayalam at ₹0.48 Cr, and Kannada at ₹0.32 Cr, have also played their parts in building this grand total. Occupancy rates provide an interesting look into how fans are choosing to experience this web-slinging adventure. For the English 3D version, the overall occupancy for the day was 13.83 percent. Interestingly, the numbers grew steadily as the day progressed, starting at 9.22 percent in the morning and peaking at 16.56 percent during the night shows. In terms of regional performance for English 3D, Bengaluru stood out with a 15.8 percent overall occupancy, followed by Mumbai at 9.5 percent and both Hyderabad and the National Capital Region at 8.3 percent. Pune recorded a lower occupancy of 7.8 percent for the same format. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The Hindi 3D version saw an overall occupancy of 10.58 percent on its fourteenth day. Similar to the English format, the evening and night shows were the most popular, recording 12.33 percent and 11.75 percent respectively. In major Hindi-speaking regions, Kolkata led the way with a 12.8 percent occupancy, while Mumbai followed closely at 12.0 percent. The National Capital Region showed a 9.8 percent occupancy, and Ahmedabad reported 8.3 percent. These figures suggest that the 3D experience remains a preferred choice for the audience, especially during prime time hours. The role of national cinema chains in this success story is clearly visible through the daily advance booking figures. Across the major circuits, the movie saw approximately 51,000 tickets sold for the day, contributing nearly ₹1.7 Cr to the total earnings. When we break this down using rounded figures, PVR emerged as the primary contributor with roughly 28,000 tickets resulting in a gross of about ₹1.0 Cr. Inox followed with a solid performance of nearly 17,000 tickets and a gross around ₹0.5 Cr, while Cinepolis added its share with approximately 6,000 tickets and a gross of roughly ₹0.2 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) On BookMyShow, the movie saw 135.66K tickets booked on the second Tuesday. While this dropped to 100K tickets on the second Wednesday, the cumulative total of tickets booked on the platform has reached a staggering 8,583,070. This volume of online transactions highlights the continued interest among the urban audience to catch the movie on the big screen. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is performing exceptionally well in North America. According to data from Venky Box Office, the film earned $20M on Tuesday, which brings its total North American collection to a massive $691M. This international momentum mirrors the trend we see in India, where the film has moved past being just a hit to becoming a significant cultural event of the year.

Nikki Cross Reveals She Pitched 'Nikki A.S.H.' Directly To Vince McMahon

BY SACNILK

In a recent sit-down interview with Chris Van Vliet, former WWE Superstar Nikki Cross revealed that one of her most memorable on-screen personas — Nikki A.S.H., short for "Almost a Superhero" — wasn't handed to her by WWE's creative team. It was her own idea, and she took it straight to the top. Cross explained that the concept grew out of a period when she had little going on in WWE storylines. Her tag team with Alexa Bliss was winding down as Bliss became more involved with Bray Wyatt-related stories, leaving Cross searching for her next chapter. Drawing on her lifelong love of superheroes — she cited the 1990s X-Men cartoon, Rogue, and Storm as major influences — she noticed WWE hadn't had a female superhero-style character since Hurricane Helms and Mighty Molly. She saw an opening and decided to build a pitch around it. Cross didn't just show up with an idea — she put together a full presentation. She commissioned a Scottish artist to design mock-up artwork of the character, complete with a blue-and-gold X-Men-inspired color scheme, a cape, a mask, and a lightning bolt nodding to her independent-circuit persona, Nikki Storm. She even researched box office numbers from major superhero films like Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel to support her case that the concept could be commercially successful. With time running short before Raw, she waited outside Vince McMahon's office for several hours to deliver what she described as an elevator pitch — a quick case for why the character would work and make WWE money. Weeks passed with no word. Then, on Mother's Day, McMahon texted her his verdict, calling the idea "genius" and instructing the creative team to move forward with it. McMahon did put his own stamp on the character, though. He steered it away from Cross's more elaborate original vision — closer to Captain Marvel — toward something simpler and more relatable, in the mold of early Spider-Man. The result was "Nikki Almost a Superhero": a character who isn't a true superhero, but believes she is one anyway. The character resonated. Cross went on to win Money in the Bank as Nikki A.S.H. and cashed in the very next night to become Raw Women's Champion — a milestone she has called the product of years of preparation meeting the right timing. She also credited a specific piece of advice from Hurricane Helms, whom she calls "papa," for shaping the character's execution: no matter what happened in a match, the mask could never come off, since a superhero losing their mask on live television would undercut the entire gimmick. That guidance led to several redesigns of the mask before the team landed on one secure enough for in-ring competition. Cross recently left WWE after a decade with the company and has since returned to the independent scene under her original ring name, Nikki Storm, following her and her husband's acquisition of the UK promotion Progress Wrestling.

India Box Office Story of The Week: Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Golden Swing as DC Packs A Surprising Punch

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 10 - The Indian box office witnessed another fascinating week as Hollywood continued to dominate the conversation, led by the historic run of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Tom Holland-led Marvel blockbuster not only maintained its extraordinary momentum in its second weekend but also created history by becoming the highest-grossing non-Indian film ever in the country, surpassing Avatar: The Way of Water. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) At the same time, Lokesh Kanagaraj's acting debut DC: The Bloody Valentine delivered a surprisingly strong start, giving the weekend another talking point despite arriving with a much smaller footprint. Brand New Day was already rewriting the record books after its phenomenal opening week, and the second weekend only strengthened its position. The film collected around 96+ crore gross over its second weekend, taking its India gross to nearly 497 crore and comfortably surpassing Avatar: The Way of Water, which had finished with around 477.50 crore. The achievement makes Spider-Man: Brand New Day the first Hollywood film to breach the 500 crore gross mark in India. What makes Spider-Man's run even more impressive is the sheer consistency after its record-breaking opening. The film opened with around 72.50 crore gross on Thursday and went on to cross 300 crore net within just four days. It remained exceptionally strong in the second weekend, scripting history for Hollywood. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While the Marvel movie dominated the box office, DC emerged as the surprise performer of the week. The Arun Matheswaran-directed Tamil action thriller, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, opened at 5+ crore gross on Friday before jumping to 8+ crore on Saturday and 11 crore on Sunday. Its three-day India gross therefore stood at 24+ crore, representing a strong weekend for a film arriving without the scale or nationwide penetration of the major Hollywood blockbuster. The contrast between the two films makes the week's box-office story particularly interesting. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is operating at a completely different commercial level, breaking the biggest Hollywood records in the country and crossing 500 crore gross at an unprecedented pace. DC, meanwhile, has shown that a regional film with a distinct identity can still punch above its weight when audience interest translates into strong weekend growth.
