Bethlehem Kudumba Unit 3rd Weekend Box Office: ₹24.85 Cr Gross as Nivin Pauly Becomes Only Actor After Mohanlal With Two All Time Blockbusters and Set to Overtake Empuraan Today
Three weekends in, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is still climbing rather than settling — a rare thing for a Malayalam film seventeen days into its run. The third Friday-to-Sunday stretch didn't just hold the film's numbers steady; it pushed them higher each successive day, a pattern most films lose well before the second weekend, let alone the third. Along the way, the film also picked up a new footprint — Tamil and Telugu joined the collection sheet for the first time — and closed in on a string of Mollywood records that were, until recently, held by films with much longer runs behind them.
A Weekend That Kept Climbing
The third weekend didn't follow the usual Friday-high, Sunday-taper shape. Instead, gross collections rose on all three days — from ₹7.20 Cr on the third Friday to ₹8.20 Cr on Saturday (up 13.9%) and further to ₹9.45 Cr on Sunday (up another 15.2%). That's two consecutive days of double-digit gross growth deep into a theatrical run, and it's reflected in the show count too — 1,756 shows on Day 15 nudged up to 1,834 on Day 16 and 1,855 on Day 17, exhibitors adding screens rather than trimming them.

Tamil and Telugu Enter the Picture
Until Day 14, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit was a Malayalam-only theatrical release. On Day 15, Malayalam did the overwhelming bulk of the work at ₹5.35 Cr net off 1,756 shows at 68% occupancy, with Tamil and Telugu contributing ₹0.40 Cr apiece. By Day 17, Malayalam's net had climbed to ₹6.55 Cr at a much stronger 81% occupancy across the same 1,855 shows, while Tamil ticked up to ₹0.75 Cr and Telugu to ₹0.80 Cr.
Region by Region: Sunday's Occupancy Surge
The clearest read on the weekend's momentum comes from comparing Saturday to Sunday market-by-market. Nearly every major centre posted a sharp occupancy jump into Sunday — Kochi went from a healthy 74.5% to a near-houseful 89.5%, and Thrissur surged from 62.3% to 89.3%. Kozhikode and Alappuzha moved almost identically, both climbing roughly 18–20 points. Bengaluru was the one market that stayed largely flat on shows (126 → 126) with only a modest occupancy gain (69.0% → 72.3%) — a rare stagnant pocket in an otherwise rising weekend. Mumbai, the smallest of the tracked markets, improved only marginally (35.3% → 43.3%), the one region where the Sunday lift was muted rather than dramatic.

Ticket Sales: BookMyShow vs the National Chains
BookMyShow sold 2,41,710 tickets on the third Friday, 2,49,360 on Saturday and 1,85,810 on Sunday — a slightly different curve from the gross trend, peaking on Saturday before easing off, though still comfortably ahead of a typical third-weekend tail. That takes the film's cumulative BookMyShow sell-through to 52,46,740 tickets — presales of 1.03 lakh, 27.0 lakh across the first week and 17.7 lakh in the second, on top of the third-weekend haul.
Across PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis — the three major national chains — the combined gross rose steadily through the weekend, climbing from approximately ₹96.83 Lakhs on Day 15 to ₹1.45 Cr on Day 16, and reaching ₹1.59 Cr on Day 17. This surge was powered by a consistent rise in ticket volumes, which grew from 34,538 on Friday to 57,231 by Sunday, resulting in a total weekend haul of over 1.43 lakh tickets sold across these three networks alone.

Overseas: New Zealand, Germany and a $2M North America Landmark
The overseas run has been quietly setting records of its own. In New Zealand, the film's gross has become the biggest-ever New Zealand run for a Mollywood release, overtaking Empuraan's previous mark. In North America, a $140K Saturday pushed the film's total there past $2.02 million — a clean $2M landmark for a Malayalam release. Germany has held up well into its third weekend too, with reports putting the gross above €325K, ahead of Lokah's comparable mark of roughly €320K at the same stage.
Records: Fastest to ₹100 Cr, and the Daily Top Five
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is now the fastest Malayalam film to ₹100 Cr in Malayalam-market collections, reaching the mark in just 14 days — ahead of Vaazha 2 (17 days), Thudarum (19 days), Lokah (23 days) and Manjummel Boys (24 days). It also topped the daily net charts on both Day 15 (₹5.35 Cr) and Day 16 (₹5.65 Cr), before settling for second on Day 17 (₹6.55 Cr) behind Manjummel Boys' ₹8.50 Cr day.

A Rare Kerala Footfall Milestone
On admissions, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has crossed 70 lakh footfalls at the Kerala box office — only the fifth film to do so since 2010, joining Pulimurugan, Thudarum, Lokah: Chapter 1 and Vaazha 2 on that list. The film's lead, Nivin Pauly, becomes only the second actor this century — after Mohanlal — to headline two all-time blockbusters.Furthermore, the global chase is now reaching its final stretch; with a worldwide gross of ₹265.10 Cr, the film is poised to overtake Empuraan (₹266.81 Cr) today. By doing so, it will officially claim the title of the second-highest grossing Malayalam film of all time on the worldwide leaderboard.
On the state's own gross charts, the film currently sits fourth among biggest Kerala grossers — Vaazha 2 leads at ₹127.68 Cr, followed by Lokah at ₹120.85 Cr and Thudarum at ₹118.90 Cr, with Bethlehem Kudumba Unit close behind at ₹117.20 Cr. At its current daily pace, the film looks set to overtake Thudarum by today, with Lokah's mark also within realistic reach.
