The Income Tax Department on Wednesday carried out searches at over 30 locations in Mumbai and Pune, including the premises of film director Anurag Kashyap, actress Taapsee Pannu, filmmaker Vikas Bahl, and Madhu Mantena. Now, the IT Department has issued an official statement on the raids they carried out in Mumbai at different properties and claims crores hidden. ## The statement read, "The Income Tax Department is carrying out search and survey operations which started on 03.03.2021 on two leading film production companies, a leading actress and two Talent Management companies in Mumbai. Search operation is being carried out at Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Hyderabad. The group is mainly engaged in the business of Production of Motion Pictures, Web Series, acting, direction, and talent Management of celebrities and other artists. A total of 28 premises are being covered in different locations which include residences and offices".## "During the search, evidence of huge suppression of income by the leading Film Production house compared to the actual box office collections has been unearthed. The company officials have not been able to explain the discrepancy of around Rs. 300 crore".## "Evidence related to manipulation and under-valuation of share transactions of the production house amongst the film directors and shareholders, having tax implication of about Rs. 350 crore has been found and is being further investigated".## "Evidence of cash receipts by the leading actress amounting to Rs 5 crore has been recovered. Further investigation is going on", the statement further read. ## The statement also said that the team has seized a huge amount of digital data in the form of emails, Whatsapp chats, hard disks, etc which are under investigation. "Apart from this, non-genuine/bogus expenditure to related concerns by the leading producers/director having tax implication of about Rs. 20 crore has been detected. Similar findings have been made in the case of the leading actress also".## At the office premises of the two talent management companies, a huge amount of digital data has been seized in the form of emails, WhatsApp chats, hard disks, etc which are under investigation. During the search, 7 bank lockers have been found which have been placed under restraint. Search is continuing in all the premises".## Stay tuned...

After the huge success of "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story", the makers of the series have announced the second installment of the "Scam" franchise, titled "Scam 2003: The Curious Case of Abdul Karim Telgi".## The production banner Applause Entertainment on Thursday (March 4) revealed its plans of launching a second season, which will be based on the story of Abdul Karim Telgi, the mastermind of the 2003 Stamp Paper scam. Just like the first installment, "Scam 2003" will also be directed by the National Award Winning director, Hansal Mehta. ## The show has been adapted from the Hindi book Reporter ki Diary, authored by journalist/news reporter Sanjay Singh, who is credited for breaking the scam story years ago. The series promises to be an intriguing watch as it will capture the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, born in Khanapur in Karnataka, and his journey to becoming the mastermind behind one of India's most ingenious scams spread across multiple states which shock the entire country. It is estimated that the scam value was around 20,000 crores. ## The production house has roped in the talented Kiran Yadnyopavit - known for his contribution to the Marathi film industry, to write and develop the story along with author Sanjay Singh. Actors Richa Chadha, and Ali Fazal have launched their production banner "Pushing Buttons Studios". The first project under this banner will be the coming-of-age story "Girls Will Be Girls" which will be directed by debutante filmmaker Shuchi Talati who has also narrated the script of this film.## Set in an elite boarding school in a small Himalayan hill town, the story is about 16-year-old Mira, whose sexy, rebellious coming-of-age is hijacked by her mother who never got to come-of-age. Mother and daughter grow up together through the course of the script and their fraught but ultimately loving relationship is the beating heart of the film.## "Girls Will Be Girls" is the only Indian script invited to the prestigious Berlinale Script Station 2021, a lab that selects 10 projects from around the world every year, according to the makers. The Bombay High Court has directed streaming platform Amazon Prime Video to take down the Telugu movie "V" starring Nani. Model and actor Sakshi Malik filed a defamation suit against Venkateshwara Creations for allegedly using her photograph without permission in their movie. Malik's advocate Saveena Bedi said the scene showed Malik's photograph, referring to her as a commercial sex worker.## "Simply using another's image, and most especially a private image, without consent is prima facie impermissible, unlawful, and entirely illegal. In a given case, it may also be defamatory, depending on the type of use", the court said in its order. The order copy was made available on Wednesday according to Gadgets 360.## "The fact that the image has been illicitly used is bad enough. It only makes matters worse when used in a plainly derogatory and demeaning vein", Justice Patel said.## The court directed Amazon Prime Video to take down the movie within 24 hours until the said scene is deleted. "It is not acceptable for them (movie's makers) to merely pixelate or blur the images. The entire sequence, which has the image of the plaintiff (Malik), is to be removed immediately", Justice Patel said.## Bedi argued that Malik's photo was used illicitly by the defendant in a Telugu movie titled 'V' that was released on Amazon on September 5, 2020. As per Malik's suit, she had commissioned a photographer in 2017 for creating a portfolio.## "In August 2017, she (Malik) posted some photographs from the portfolio on her Instagram account. One of these photos was used in a scene of the Telugu movie where there is a reference to a commercial sex worker", Bedi said.## Talking about the movie "V", it is an action thriller directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti and produced by Dil Raju under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. The movie stars Nani, Sudheer Babu, Nivetha Thomas, and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles along with Vennela Kishore and Tanikella Bharani in supporting roles.
