Mumbai, July 2 - June was the second biggest month of the year at the Indian box office with close to 1000 crores gross collection after January which is the only month to cross this milestone so far. ## In June 2024, films across languages grossed approximately 985 crores at the domestic box office, as Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD being the biggest grosser with approximately 370 crores gross, followed by Bollywood movie, Munjya with approximately 111 crores gross. ## In terms of language, Hindi once again topped the month and also saw the biggest of the year so far by topping March month's collection of 386 crores with approximately 390 crores gross which includes Kalki (130+ crores) and Munjay (111 crores) as the two biggest grossers. The Telugu version is also back in the top 2 with approximately 275 crores gross, thanks to Kalki with 200 crores gross. ## Meanwhile, the Malayalam language collection slipped to 4th spot after being the second biggest for four consecutive months. The Tamil industry also witnessed a rebound and has had the biggest month of the year with approximately 137 crores gross, thanks to Maharaja (60 crores) and Garudan (45 crores). ## The total domestic collection after the first 6 months is approximately 4700 crores gross. The second half of the year, however, is expected to see a big jump in the collection with multiple much-awaited movies lined up for release, including Pushpa 2, Singham Again, Indian 2, Devara, Game Changer, Kanguva, Stree 2, GOAT, along with Hollywood movies like Deadpool 3, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Joker 2, among many local and international films. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, July 2 - Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment's A-rated action thriller Kill, which is scheduled to be released theatrically on July 5, is set to be remade in Hollywood by the John Wick director Chad Stahelski who will produce the movie for Lionsgate. ## Kill has been rated 'A' by CBFC for extreme violence and it is billed as the Indian version of the John Wick franchise. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the movie stars Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi, Harsh Chhaya, and Tanya Maniktala in key roles. ## "Kill is one of the most vivid, wild, and creative action movies I've seen recently. Nikhil delivers relentless action sequences that need to be seen by as wide an audience as possible. It's exciting to be developing an English-language version — we have big shoes to fill and I'm looking forward to working with Nikhil, Karan, Apoorva, Guneet, and Achin to achieve that", Stahelski said in a statement (via Variety).## In a rare instance, the makers of Kill have partnered with any major Hollywood studio to release the movie in North America and the U.K. with Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions coming on board to distribute the movie there. ## In the film, when army commando Amrit (Lakshya) finds out his true love Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage. Mumbai, July 2 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan adds another feather to his golden hat as he will be honoured with the prestigious Honorary Leopard Achievement Award by the Locarno Film Festival for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. ## The official X handle of the Locarno Film Festival shared the news, and wrote "To welcome a living legend like #ShahRukhKhan in Locarno is a dream come true. The actor and film producer – a true Indian superstar, a symbol of the vitality of Hindi-language cinema – will receive our career achievement award, the Pardo alla Carriera, at #Locarno77". ## The actor will receive the honour on August 10 at the Swiss fest's 8,000-seat Piazza Grande open-air venue. Hyderabad, July 2 - The sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD starring Pan India superstar Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani showed a strong hold on the film's first Monday at the domestic as well as the overseas box office.## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD entered the crucial Monday after grossing over 500 crores worldwide in its 4-day opening weekend. The strong hold on Monday was crucial for the movie for its longevity at the box office and it did the same. ## Kalki grossed an estimated 40+ crores on its 5th day in India in all versions, dropping around 60% from Sunday which is a good hold after the huge weekend collection. With this, the movie's total domestic collection reached approximately 410 crores in 5 days, heading for around 500 crores full first week. ## Overseas, Kalki 2898 AD has crossed 160 crores gross in 5 days, for an estimated 570 crores worldwide gross as it is heading for around 650 crores full first week. Mumbai, July 2 - 12 years after the superhit action comedy, Son of Sardaar, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn and team reunite for its sequel with Devgn returning to play the lead role. The movie will reportedly be directed by Punjabi filmmaker Vijay Kumar Arora. ## When the sequel was confirmed, there were rumours that Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha, who played prominent roles in the original movie, would not be returning. Now, according to the latest reports, the makers have brought on board SOS2 with Mrunal Thakur to replace Sonakshi. ## According to the Mid-Day, it is not yet clear whether Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt will reprise their roles as Jassi and Balwinder Singh Sandhu aka Billu as the story of SOS2 is said to be fresh and doesn't pick up where the original ended.## "That said, since the characters of Billu and Jassi were loved by the audiences, the two actors are expected to stick to their characters' names. Their dynamics, however, will be different. While the two were at loggerheads with hilarious results in Son of Sardaar, this time, their rivalry will be intense, with Sanjay's role leaning towards the antagonist", says the report. ## The report further said that the trio of Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, and Mrunal Thakur who will play the female lead, will commence a 50-day schedule in Scotland this month. The direction team had done a recce earlier this year and finalised the scenic towns of Glencoe and Glenfinnan, as well as sites such as Culross Palace, Doune Castle, Preston Mill and Falkland Palace to shoot the movie. ## Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is currently shooting for Rohit Shetty's highly-anticipated Singham Again which is expected to be wrapped in the next few days. Ajay also has Raid 2 in the production and De De Pyaar De 2 which will resume after SOS2. Chennai, July 2 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the first Tamil movie of 2024 to top 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office. It has surpassed horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 which fell a little short of the 100 crores mark at an estimated around 99 crores. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja cleared the 100 crores worldwide gross in its third weekend in which it grossed approximately 4.50 crores, despite Kalki 2898 AD having a strong debut in Tamil Nadu with over 20 crores gross. ## After 17 days, the total domestic collection of Maharaja is an estimated 76+ crores gross while the overseas total is around 24 crores, for 100+ crores worldwide cume. The movie is expected to finish its box office run around 105 crores worldwide. ## The Tamil film industry has struggled in the first half of 2024 with a couple of box office hits which also include Aranmanai 4 and Garudan along with Thalapathy Vijay's re-released Ghilli in the last few weeks. Mumbai, July 1 - After the fantastic opening weekend, Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD put up an excellent hold on its first Monday in the dubbed Hindi version with a drop of just around 20% from the opening day, Thursday. ## The Nag Ashwin's directorial blockbuster shows the power of super positive word of mouth as it scores an estimated 16.50-17.50 crores net collection. This takes the total Hindi collection of the film to around 128 crores in just 5 days as the first full week is heading for 160+ crores net. ## Despite coming after an extended weekend, the superb hold on Monday, be it single screens or multiplexes indicates a long run for the movie and with the current trend, it will reach 200 crores net in the second weekend itself. Thanks to its sensational run so far, it will beat all but Baahubali 2, RRR, and KGF 2 by the end of the first week to emerge as the 4th highest-grossing South Indian movie in Hindi. ## Apart from Hindi, Kalki 2898 AD also scored a decent hold in the other versions as all versions are estimated to be 40+ crores gross on the first Monday. After today's collection, Kalki has surpassed 400 crores gross in India at an estimated around 410 crores. Mumbai, July 1 - Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn and Tabu's romantic thriller Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which is scheduled to release on July 5, is likely to be postponed to later this month due to the lack of buzz and the super success of Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD. ## While the official announcement is yet to be made, according to Pinkvilla, AMKDT will now be released on July 26 and will clash with the highly-anticipated Hollywood movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. Director Neeraj Pandey and the team are expected to make the official announcement soon. ## AMKDT despite featuring a top star cast with a proven filmmaker failed to generate enough buzz and now with Kalki 2898 AD also having an excellent run in Hindi, the makers have reportedly concluded that it would be better to postpone the film rather than pitching it against Kalki. ## Produced by Friday Filmworks in association with NH Studioz, and Panorama Studios, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha also stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Saiee Manjrekar playing pivotal roles. Mumbai, July 1 - For the last couple of weeks, Tamil director Atlee's next film is making waves in media headlines. The filmmaker was supposed to collaborate with superstar Allu Arjun but the latter opted out due to some reasons known to them only. ## After Allu Arjun's exit, Atlee reportedly approached Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for the same and the actor was said to have loved the idea. It was revealed the script demands a two-hero spectacle and for the same, the filmmaker was rumoured to be in talks with superstar Rajinikanth to join Salman. ## Now, there is a new twist in the tale. According to the report by Pinkvilla, it is not Rajinikanth but legendary Kamal Haasan in talks to headline this mega-budget entertainer with Salman Khan, and for that things are moving in the right direction. ## "Both Kamal Haasan and Salman Khan have loved the idea that Atlee is working on and are excited for this collaboration. Mumbai, October 9 - Maverick director SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion set the benchmark for not just Telugu cinema but also in the Hindi and rest of the versions. It was the last film to sell over 5 crores tickets in Hindi. Baahubali 2 was only the second South Indian film, after Baahubali, to reach 100 crores net mark in Hindi. While no other film could come close to the footfalls benchmark set by BB2, nearly a dozen South Indian films have managed to breach 100 crores net mark in Hindi, with Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule went on to become, not the biggest dubbed grosser, but also the biggest Hindi net grosser of all-time with over 800 crores. The latest South Indian film to join the 100 crores net club in Hindi is Rishab Shetty's Kannada blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1, which is the prequel to 2022's Kantara. The period folk action thriller has topped the milestone in 7 days, becoming the second Kannada movie and 11th South Indian title to do so in Hindi. So far, 11 South Indian movies have topped 100 crores net at the Hindi box office, and 8 of them are Telugu movies, while 2 films are Kannada origin and one is a Tamil title. New Delhi, July 1 - After the dull first 5 months, the Punjabi film industry finally has a box office hit as Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic-comedy Jatt and Juliet 3 has had an excellent extended opening weekend worldwide. ## The third instalment of the blockbuster franchise scored the biggest opening weekend ever for a Punjabi movie with approximately 48.10 crores at the worldwide box office. It has beaten Carry On Jatta 3 which had grossed approximately 44.50 crores in the opening weekend in 2023. ## Jatt and Juliet 3 minted approximately 19.60 crores in India and 28.50 crores in international markets. In India, J&J3 remained behind COJ3's opening weekend but thanks to the sensational overseas debut, it topped the biggest weekend for a Punjabi title. ## Jatt and Juliet 3 was up against Pan India monster Kalki 2898 AD which conquered the domestic and the overseas box office this weekend and this has probably kept J&J3 below the 50 crores worldwide weekend mark.
