Mumbai, May 15 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn-fronted supernatural horror thriller Shaitaan has emerged as a big success for Netflix after concluding its box office run with over 200 crores gross worldwide. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan jumped by over 100% in its second week (May 6 - May 12) to score 6.6 million views. The movie scored 3.2 million views in its opening weekend on Netflix and allied to the second week, the total viewership reached 9.8 million views in 10 days. ## Shaitaan was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide during the week of May 6 - May 12 on Netflix. It is currently trending in the top 10 in 26 countries, including number 1 India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bahrain, Pakistan, Maldives, Oman, Bangladesh, and Mauritius. ## Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapata Ladies continued to be in the top 5 most watched non-Engish titles on Netflix for the third consecutive week. The movie is riding on strong word-of-mouth as it scored 3.4 million views during the week of May 6 - May 12 at number 4. ## The film has so far scored 11.2 million views in 17 days, making it one of the most-watched Indian films of the year on Netflix. Mumbai, May 15 - The makers have dropped the first look poster of Kartik Aaryan-fronted biographical sports drama Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. ## The movie is inspired by the real-life story of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, and the first poster shows Kartik Aaryan as lean and muscular with his body covered in mud, running with intense determination. Mumbai, May 15 - Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar: Season 1 didn't show any improvement in the viewership in its first full week after the underwhelming 5-day opening weekend viewership. ## The period drama show, which started streaming on May 1st, scored 4.5 million views in its opening weekend (April 29 - May 5) which was underwhelming given the massive budget of over 200 crores. With not-so-encouraging reviews and audience reception, the viewership dipped in the second week.## In the week of May 6 - May 12, Heeramandi scored 4 million views, pushing its total viewership to 8.5 million views and 62.3 million viewing hours in 12 days. The show, however, continued to remain the second most-watched non-English series on Netflix for the second week in a row. ## The series is trending in the top 10 in 32 countries in its second week. It is currently the number-one show in India, along with UAE, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Oman, Pakistan, Bahrain, Morocco, Mauritius, Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bangladesh. ## The series is about the lives of tawaifs in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. Mumbai, May 15 - Warner Bros. Pictures has officially set a release date for the martial arts fantasy film, Mortal Combat 2, a sequel to 2021's Mortal Kombat and the fourth instalment in the Mortal Kombat film series.## Based on the video game franchise Mortal Kombat created by John Tobias and Ed Boon, Mortal Combat 2 will be hitting theatres on October 24, 2025, in IMAX. Simon McQuoid who helmed the previous film, will be returning to direct the sequel as well.## It stars Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Damon Herriman, Tati Gabrielle, Martyn Ford, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanadat in key roles.## Mortal Combat was released in April 2021, simultaneously in theatres and on HBO Max in the whack of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mumbai, May 14 - In October last year, Sunny Deol announced his reunion with veteran director Rajkumar Santoshi for a period action drama film, titled Lahore 1947. Aamir Khan is bankrolling this project which is said to be based on Asghar Wajahat's acclaimed Punjabi play, "Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai".## The shoot of the film, which also stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and Mona Singh in key roles, is going on at a brisk pace and according to the report by Pinkvilla, the entire filming is expected to be wrapped by the end of June this year with nearly a month of the shoot left. ## It is said that Lahore 1947 is loaded with drama and emotions as larger-than-life elements arise out of the dramatic moments and characterization. Meanwhile, the makers are targeting the Republic Day 2025 release as already speculated. The film is in sync with the patriotic mood of Republic Day. ## Lahore 1947 also reportedly has a cameo role of Aamir Khan, however, the makers haven't confirmed the same yet though reports say he has already shot for his portion in the film. Mumbai, May 14 - After years of planning and intensive pre-production work, director Nitesh Tiwari's epic Ramayana recently went on floors with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi who are playing the role of lord Ram and goddess Sita, respectively. Yash plays the character of Raavan. ## Ramayana is easily the most-anticipated Indian movie in the works and now, according to the reports, it is going to be the costliest Indian film ever. It is said that the makers have allotted a staggering budget of $100 million (835 crores) for Ramayana Part 1. ## The aforementioned budget could be exaggerated as some reports say that the makers are not willing to invest that much money into the movie, however, the entire team is confident that Ramayana will be the next big thing in Indian cinema. ## Not many Indian films have been made on a budget of over 500 crores. Kochi, May 14 - It seems Malayalam superstar Mammootty is coming to conquer the box office again with his action comedy film Turbo, directed by Vysakh. It is currently the most anticipated Indian movie of the year with 10 days left for the release. ## The makers recently released the trailer of Turbo and it seems to have worked wonders with the general audiences. As per IMDb, Turbo is currently the most-anticipated movie, grabbing 32% of the total page views, followed by Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD with 27% of page views. ## IMDb's most anticipated list keeps changing with new entries here and there but with just 10 days left for the release, Turbo is expected to occupy more space in the list as the buzz is peaking with each passing day. Mumbai, May 14 - National-award-winning Bollywood star Tabu is going to Hollywood once again as the actress has been roped in for HBO Max's Dune Prophecy, a prequel series to Denis Villeneuve's big screen adaptation Dune (2021). ## According to Variety, Tabu will be playing the role of Sister Francesca. The character is described as "Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital".## The series was originally confirmed in 2019, under the title Dune: The Sisterhood. It was supposed to be directed by Villeneuve but he now focusing only on Dune's big-screen adaptation and has already directed 2 movies in the franchise. ## Set within the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.## Dune Prophecy is yet to have a premiere date. ## Tabu, meanwhile, will next be seen in the Indian romantic thriller Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, co-starring Ajay Devgn. Chennai, May 13 - Actor and filmmaker Sundar C's Aranmanai 4 has become the third Tamil movie of 2024 to top 50 crores gross collection at the Indian box office after Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan. ## Starring Tamannah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna in the leading roles, the 4th instalment of the horror-comedy franchise minted approximately 49.30 crores gross in India through the second weekend and on its 11th day (2nd Monday), it has topped the 50 crores gross mark. ## The Tamil version of the film has contributed approximately 45 crores gross while the Telugu version scored around 4.30 crores gross in 10 days so far. The movie is likely to become the highest-grossing Tamil title of the year by crossing Ayalaan (58.75 crores approx.) and Captain Miller (58 crores approx.)## It has been a much-needed success for Kollywood which was going through a dry phase in the absence of big star films. Mumbai, May 13 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's supernatural thriller Shaitaan has almost done with its theatrical run but not before emerging as a big box office success in India and worldwide. The movie has now been made available to stream online, after 8 weeks of theatrical run. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan minted approximately 50 lakh in its 9th week (the first week after the OTT release) and it dropped further in the 10th weekend for just around 8 lakh net collection. Nonetheless, the movie has done more than it was once projected with a net collection of close to 150 crores. ## At the end of its 10th weekend, Shaitaan scored approximately 148 crores net (176 crores gross) which will more or less be its final total at the domestic box office. It is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year domestically after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. ## Overseas, the movie has grossed an estimated 37.50 crores, for worldwide approximately 213.50 crores gross. Again, it is the second highest-grossing Bollywood title of 2024 after Fighter which grossed over 350 crores worldwide. Shaitaan is easily one of the biggest box office successes of 2024 with total footfalls close to 90 lakh.
