Mumbai, October 11 - The covid-19 pandemic has heavily favored streaming platforms as people around the world have preferred to watch movies and shows in the comfort of their homes. It is the result that streaming platforms have seen a rapid rise in the number of subscribers in the last one and a half years as theaters were closed due to the pandemic. ## According to the latest forecast, Walt Disney's Disney+ will have the most number of paid subscribers by the end of 2025. Though Disney+'s speed has slowed up a bit in terms of gaining subscribers it is still one of the fastest-growing digital platforms, and now, analysts say the streamer will reach more subscribers than Netflix by 2025. ## Research firm Digital TV Research shared the prediction in a report (via THR), projecting that the number of subscribers to Disney+ would reach 284.2 million in 2026. Netflix will in 2026 have 270.7 million subscribers. In a February report, the firm had forecast that Disney+'s user base would surpass Netflix’s in 2026. The latest forecast is, however, down from 294M for Disney+ and 286M for Netflix from the earlier prediction. ## According to Digital TV Research, three platforms, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video "will control nearly half the world's SVOD subscriptions by 2026. Disney+ will be the biggest winner, overtaking Netflix in 2025. ## Disney+ will add 140 million subscribers between 2021 and 2026 to bring its total to 284 million. About 121 million of Disney+'s subscribers (43 percent of its total) in 2026 will be in the 13 Asian countries under the Hotstar brand. Amazon Prime will hit 243.4 million users in the said period.## The report further states that overall global subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) will increase by 491 million between 2021 and 2026 to reach 1.64 billion. Of them, China and the U.S. will account for 49 percent of the global total then. While both China and the U.S. had a similar number of subscriptions by the end-2020, China's growth will be slow due to government pressure. China is expected to have 354 million subscribers by 2026 as compared to the U.S. forecast of 450 million users.## Stay tuned...

Hyderabad, September 22: Amid the speculations, Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati have been confirmed to star in a web series. The real-life uncle and nephew, Venkatesh and Rana will be starring in a crime drama series "Rana Naidu", which is an official adaptation of the American crime drama Ray Donovan, for Netflix. ## This is the first time when the two actors with massive fan followings will be sharing screen space. "Rana Naidu" story will follow the life of Rana Naidu, a professional fixer for Bollywood and Mumbai's elite. It will be produced by Sunder Aaron of Locomotive Global Media LLP and directed by Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma. ## "It is completely different from what both of us have done in our careers so far. I am extremely happy to work with a crew and a platform that knows this format the best. It will be new, challenging, and fun. The details about the project were revealed much but it was reported that Veere Di Wedding director Shashanka Ghosh would be helming the film which was said to be a romantic-comedy. ## Well, it has been confirmed now, and the movie has been titled "Plan A Plan B". Tamannaah Bhatia will be starring as the female lead alongside Riteish Deshmukh. Riteish is playing a matchmaker while Tamannah essays the role of a divorce lawyer. Though the theme is much similar to Alia Bhatt's upcoming movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhansali's project will have a different storyline. ## In recent times, names Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, and Huma Qureshi have come to the fore to feature in the film. Mumbai, July 28, 2021: Amid the rumors of Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi, and Radhika Apte starring in a Netflix original film, the streamer has officially announced the movie titled - Monica, O My Darling. The film is named after RD Burman's cabaret item number that was filmed on Helen in the 1971 movie, Caravan. ## Announcing the film, Netflix unveiled the first look posters of Radhika Apte, Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi among others featuring in the film. Mumbai, July 26, 2021: Kriti Sanon's first film as the solo lead, Mimi, was all set to premiere worldwide on July 30 on Netflix and Jio Cinema. However, in a major blow to the streamer and makers, the film was reportedly illegally leaked 4 days before its original scheduled date. ## As per reports, the pirated version of Jio Studios and Maddock Films' Mimi has been made available on Telegram on July 26. Los Angeles, July 22, 2021: After the huge success of the Zombie movie "Army Of The Dead", which is among the most viewed Netflix movies of all time, the streaming giant has signed a first-look deal with filmmaker Zack Snyder for two years. The deal is under the aegis of Zack Snyder's production company, Stone Quarry, which he runs with wife Deborah Snyder, and executive Wesley Coller. ## As per the deal, Snyder will make and create content for Netflix including the sequel to Army Of The Dead, which gained 75 million views in the first four weeks of its debut. The first film that falls under the new deal is a sci-fi adventure tale "Rebel Moon". It is a Star Wars-inspired movie that will be co-written by Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. The production on "Revel Moon" is expected to begin in early 2022. ## The sequel to Army Of The Dead will be co-written by Snyder with Shay Hatten, who had also co-written the first movie with him. Among the other content from Snyders for Netflix, a German-made prequel to the Zombie movie, titled Army of Thieves, and an anime spinoff, were already in production ever before the movie was released in May. The prequel is on track for a release later this year while the anime is set to debut in spring 2022.## But that's not all. The other projects that are planned under the Netflix – Stone Quarry partnership are an animated series, "Twilight of the Gods"; and an action film that will mark the directorial debut of stunt coordinator, Damon Caro, a long-time collaborator of Snyders.## Previously, Snyders' Stone Quarry company had a deal with Warner Bros., for whom Snyder guided, either as director or producer, most of the DC superhero flicks in the modern age of comic book movies (except the Christopher Nolan Batman movies). Mumbai, July 16, 2021: Netflix is reviving its ambitious show, Baahubali: Before The Beginning after scrapping it despite the 70% of the shoot completed. The show was earlier being directed by South Indian filmmakers Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru and shot with Mrunal Thakur as young Sivagami. However, things didn't turn out the way it was visualized. It led Netflix to scrap the entire shoot and later it decided that it will be reshot with a fresh cast and director. ## Based on Anand Neelakantan's novel The Rise of Sivagami, the streamer has roped in Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi to play the role of Sivagami. The show is currently under the pre-production stage and Wamiqa will start shooting by September or October this year. ## And now, as per the latest development, Netflix has got in the lady superstar of the South Indian cinema, Nayanthara to play a pivotal role in the series. Nayanthara's character in the series is yet to be known. The show will mark the versatile actress's Hindi as well as digital debut. ## Touted as the most expensive Indian series coming out from Netflix, Bahubali: Before The Beginning is reportadly divided into two parts. The show is the prequel to SS Rajamouli's magnum opus blockbuster franchise Bahubali starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah, and Sathyaraj among others.## Baahubali: Before the Beginning is said to have seen the potential of being India's answer to Game of Thrones. Jannat fame Kunal Deshmukh and The Girl On the Train fame Ribhu Dasgupta are reportadly on board to direct the series. Chennai, July 9, 2021: Netflix has unveiled the much-awaited teaser of the Tamil anthology web series, "Navarasa", created by the ace filmmaker, Mani Ratnam. The 9-episodes series stars some of the biggest names of the South Indian cinema such as Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Fahadh Faasil, Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Anjali, among others. ## Unlike the other shows and films, Navarasa has been made for a noble cause. As we all know, the covid-19 pandemic had left the film industries in a bad shape as workers who form the bulk of it were struggling to make their ends meet. It was then that Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan along with the rest of the team thought of raising funds by making a series and generate funds to support those in the film industry who have been affected by the COVID19 crisis. ## It is to be noted that the artists, technicians, and directors working on the series are contributing towards the film without remuneration, with only the costs of production being associated. The profits earned from the project will be donated to the members of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. ## Mani Ratnam, in a conversation with Sreedhar Pillai for sify.com, said that they are close to reaching their target between Rs 12 to 15 Crores, which will go directly to the worker and his family. They are working with Bhumika Trust which was set up for disaster relief management, and have issued individual credit cards to all workers. ## In the process, the team started distributing prepaid cards to the workers from the end of March 2021 onwards, with each beneficiary receiving ₹ 1,500 per month on the prepaid card for a period of five months, which can be utilized at grocery outlets. Nearly 12,000 workers in the film industry will benefit from it. ## Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan, who are producing the series under their respective banners Madras Talkies and Qube Cinema Technologies, had initially thought of releasing the anthology in theaters. However, due to the closer of cinemas because of the covid-19 pandemic and each part of the anthology being 30-40 minutes long, a theatrical release was not possible. Mumbai, July 2, 2021: SS Rajamouli's Baahubali film series was so successful that it inspired streaming giant Netflix to make a prequel to Baahubali - The Beginning (2015). Titled Baahubali: Before the Beginning, the Telugu languages web series is based on Anand Neelakantan's 2017 and 2020 novels The Rise of Sivagami, Chaturanga, and Queen of Mahishmathi. ## Earlier, the series was being directed by Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru, however, Netflix reportadly scrapped the project after 80 percent of the shoot got completed as they weren't impressed with the content. The series, which follows the journey of Sivagami's rise to power in the Mahishmati kingdom, has now been re-worked with a new team. ## As per the latest development, Netflix has started pre-production work on Baahubali Before The Beginning. Jannat fame Kunal Deshmukh and The Girl On the Train fame Ribhu Dasgupta are said to be on board to direct the series. ## Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi, who has also featured in the Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam language films, will be playing the lead role of Sivagami in this periodic, replacing Mruanl Thakur. The entire script work of Baahubali Before The Beginning is completed and the shooting commences from September. The budget of the series is said to have Rs. 200 crores. ## Baahubali: Before the Beginning is said to have seen the potential of being India's answer to Game of Thrones. The first season of the show will consist of a total of 9 episodes. It is produced by SS Rajamouli and Arka Media Works with Netflix. The first season will premiere in 2022 on Netflix.
