Chennai, June 8, 2021: Tamil superstar currently in the US where he has been shooting for the Russo Brothers' Netflix movie, The Gray Man. The actor will return to Chennai in the next couple of weeks as he has shot his portion of the Netflix original, co-starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Julia Butters, among others. ## Meanwhile, Dhanush is gearing up for the release of his Tamil film, Jagame Thandhiram. The gangster drama was supposed to be released in theaters, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, producer S. Sashikanth sold the streaming rights to Netflix for a direct-to-digital release, which is scheduled for June 18 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. ## The audio of Jagame Thandhiram was launched on June 7. On this special occasion, Dhanush, director Karthik Subbaraj, composer Santhosh Narayanan along with the singers and lyricists took part in a Space session on Twitter. Dhanush joined the conversation from the US. ## The actor, who has been waiting for the release of Jagame Thandhiram for a long time, said in a Space session that he is disappointed as the film could have released in better circumstances in theaters but feeling okay that the film is releasing on Netflix to reach a wider audience. ## Dhanush will be playing the role of a gangster named Suruli who takes on a London-based gangster named Peter Sprott, played by James Cosmo. Speaking about his character, Dhanush said, "I love the character so much that I always ask Karthik Subbaraj to make a sequel. I am confident that everyone will like the film". ## Jagame Thandhiram is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by S. Mumbai, June 7, 2021: The "Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives", which was released last year on Netflix, was one of the most loved reality series. The series gave an insight into the lives of four Bollywood wives - Maheep Kapoor (wife of Sanjay Kapoor), Bhavana Pandey (wife of Chunky Panday), Seema Khan (wife of Sohail Khan), and Neelam Kothari (wife of Samir Soni). ## The season first of the series became so popular that season two is already in the works. Meanwhile, Karan Johar who is a pivotal part of the show, recently revealed that the idea for making Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives came while going for a condolence meeting with the four leads of the show. ## Spilling some beans on the same, Karan said during a Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives reunion on Clubhouse, that while he was traveling with the four ladies for a condolence meeting as one of their friends lost their father, he realized that these ladies are completely crazy. ## He further said that they were discussing their attire in flight for Delhi, much like Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Page 3', whether Neelam had too much shine on her white kurta or whether Maheep was underdressed for a chautha. Seeing them doing such crazy and idiotic stuff, Karan said that the four of them have to be on a show. According to the filmmaker, they made something even like a chautha sound like such a massive problem in what they were wearing to what was happening. ## Karan said that he was always aware of Maheep, Bhavana, Seema, and Neelam's crazy personalities. Chennai, June 1, 2021: Tamil superstar Dhanush's most-awaited film, Jagame Thandhiram's trailer was launched on Tuesday, June 1. The movie, which marks the first collaboration between the actor and director Karthik Subbaraj, will premiere directly on Netflix on June 18. ## The trailer shows Dhanush in the role of a Madurai-based witty gangster called Suruli. He travels to London to take on a local gangster named Peter Sprott, played by Hollywood actor James Cosmo of Game of Thrones fame. James Cosmo plays the role of a London-based mafia boss and shares a bitter relationship with Suruli. ## Produced by Y NOT Studios, and Reliance Entertainment, Jagame Thandhiram was supposed to release in theaters in May last year but was delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, Dhanush mentioned that the movie is made for the big screen only, however, in February, the producer S Sashikanth of Y Not Studio decided to release it against theaters on Netflix. ## As Dhanush was quite confident about the theatrical release, the decision of the direct OTT release on Netflix did disappoint him. Mumbai, May 31, 2021: As many Bollywood stars venturing into the digital world, another star joins the list is Riteish Deshmukh. The actor is said to be making his digital debut with a Netflix film. While the plot of the movie is yet to be known, it is reported that it is a social comedy movie that will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh. ## Shashanka Ghosh is known for helming movies like Veere Di Wedding, Sonam Kapoor's Khoobsurat, and Quick Gun Murugun among others. After the historic deal with Netflix earlier this month, Sony Pictures has now inked another landmark deal with Disney, which will allow the platform to stream Sony's films on its streaming and TV platforms. ## The new deal, which will cover Sony's entire theatrical slate from 2022-26, will bring the films to Disney-owned streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, as well as to Disney's linear TV networks, including ABC, Disney Channels, Freeform, FX, and National Geographic.## However, as per Sony's earlier deal, Netflix will have the right to stream Sony pictures first after they completed their theatrical run. The leading streaming giant, Netflix has grabbed gold by signing a new multiyear deal with Sony Pictures. According to the contract, Netflix will be the first to stream Sony Feature Films beginning from 2022 after they complete their theatrical run in the USA. These films include Uncharted, Morbius, Bullet Train & Where The Crawdads Sing, along with future sequels to Venom, Jumanji, Bad Boys & Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse.## Sony Pictures' primary pay-TV partner has been Starz, now owned by Lionsgate, since 2006. The new theatrical output deal with Netflix is believed to run about five years and is said to have worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the studio over the term. Industry sources said (according to Variety) Sony executives are working on another significant theatrical movie licensing pact outside the Netflix agreement.## Netflix is an obvious first pay window choice for Sony, given that the company already has a deal for its animated releases with Netflix. The leading streaming platforms are having tough times in dealing with new content from the last couple of months. After a controversy over the Tandav series, Amazon Prime Video was recently directed by the Bombay High Court to take down the Telugu movie, "V" over a complaint filed by actress Sakshi Malik. ## Now, Netflix has also become a subject to streaming objectionable content. This time, an Indian government agency for protecting child rights has asked Netflix to immediately stop streaming its new drama series "Bombay Begums" after it reviewed complaints around scenes showing children consuming drugs. ## In a letter to Netflix on Thursday, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) asked the streaming giant to investigate the matter and submit a report within 24 hours or face further action. The NCPCR notice referred to a tweet where a user objected to a scene showing "minors having cocaine".## "The series with this type of content will not only pollute the young minds of children, and may also result in abuse and exploitation of children", the NCPCR notice said.## Released this week, "Bombay Begums" is a series about five women from different parts of society trying to get ahead in modern Mumbai, formerly called Bombay. One of the leading streaming platforms, Netflix is ensuring that during this covid-19 pandemic, people won't have to step out since they are bringing high-level content on its platform. And now, the streaming giant is all set to take one step ahead by bringing some of the biggest stars of Hollywood in 2021. ## On Tuesday (January 12), Netflix, with a promise to bring "a new movie every week", announced the titles that will be premiering on the streaming service in 2021. The streamer shared the news on its official Twitter page in a video featuring some of the stars attached to these projects.## The titles include action movie "Red Notice", starring Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson along with Zack Snyder's zombie film "Army of the Dead", political satire "Don't Look Up", featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, and musical "Tik, Tik… Boom!" which is Lin Manuel Miranda's directorial debut, among others. The list also includes acquisitions like Halle Berry's directorial debut "Bruised" and "Malcolm & Marie", starring Zendaya and John David Washington.## The line-up also comprises the third chapters of the hit Netflix franchises — "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" and "The Kissing Booth". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer's current 2021 originals slate consists of 70 titles – including one trilogy, with the RL Stine adaptation "Fear Street". Actor Raaj Singh Arora, who is currently seen in the recent Netflix released film Torbaaz, notes how the film's leading actor Sanjay Dutt has a way with children. He recalls how well Dutt bonded with children on the sets of the film while shooting in Kyrgyzstan.## "In the film, Sanjay sir takes up the challenge to protect kids from the shackles of religious terrorism. In fact for the shooting that took place in Kyrgyzstan, we had taken kids from various places all over the country to portray an ethnic mix. Sanjay sir and the kids bonded really well", Raaj who plays cricket coach in the movie said to IANS. ## "After the shooting hours, all of us would play games and engage in various fun activities. One could notice the playfulness of a mega actor then. I am sure that he is a doting father to his kids. The kids did not get intimidated with him, be it the beard, the voice, or the height", Raaj added.## "Having worked with young people a lot, Sanjay sir knew how to create the perfect environment. The kids being kids, at times do not understand what is happening. We soon began to eat and spend most of the time together. We were all gloomy on the last day of the shoot, especially Sanjay sir and the kids, now that the journey would be paused", Raaj recalled.## Directed by Girish Malik, Torbaaz is about child suicide bombers in Afghanistan, who have been trained to believe that killing the enemy is a virtue and glory in the afterlife. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of a medical professional that lost his wife and son while he was placed in the Indian Embassy in Kabul. ## Apart from Sanjay Dutt, and Raaj Arora, the movie also stars Rahul Dev, Nargis Fakhri, Gavie Chahal, and Kuwaarjeet Chopraa in the key roles.
