Mumbai, June 28 - Pan India superstar Prabhas is set for another good ride at the Hindi box office after his sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD off to a superb start with approximately 22.50 crores net collection. The opening of the film is in the range of Hrithik Roshan's Fighter with a minor difference as the joint biggest of the year.## As has often been said in the last few years, Prabhas has emerged as the biggest superstar on the Pan India level and easily the biggest South India-origin star in the North. Despite his films not reaching the high end of the target, the actor has consistently delivered in Hindi, which the Bollywood stars have failed to do regularly. ## Since Baahubali (2015) which opened at 5.15 crores net in Hindi, Prabhas has done 6 movies, including Baahubali 2 and except for Radhe Shyam and Salaar, all the movies have taken an opening of 20+ crores net in the dubbed Hindi version. Radhe Shyam was a major misfire with just 4.80 crores net opening, largely due to the COVID-19 effect. Salaar did open well at around 16 crores net to lead a strong finish of over 150 crores net.## Baahubali 2 remains the biggest opener for Mirchi star in Hindi with 41 crores net, followed by Adipurush with 37.25 crores opening. Though the other movies couldn't come close to the opening of Baahubali 2 or Adipurush, they opened big enough to pave the way for the big lifetime finish. ## As said before, Prabhas is the only South Indian origin actor to have 5 films in the 100 crores net club in Hindi and with Kalki also performing well, the superstar will have 6 movies on the list, including a 500+ crores mega-blockbuster in Baahubali 2. Hyderabad, June 28 - Director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has had a sensational opening day at the domestic box office, clearing 100 crores gross mark and was equally strong overseas to put the movie among the top three biggest Indian openers of all-time. ## In India, the Prabhas-starrer blockbuster grossed approximately 114 crores in all versions. There were expectations of the movie scoring much more but the mass centres in Telugu states didn't show up as expected which kept the movie a little below the projected mark but big enough to set the tone for a massive opening weekend. ## In terms of language-wise gross collection, the original Telugu version scored approximately 78.50 crores, followed by the Hindi version with approximately 27 crores, and the rest of the languages grossed around 8.50 crores. The Telugu version faired below expectations but it is expected to maintain a solid hold over the weekend.## Overseas, Kalki 2898 AD grossed an estimated 61 crores on opening day, for a worldwide 175 crores start which is the third biggest ever for an Indian movie behind RRR (223 crores) and Baahubali 2 (217 crores). Mumbai, June 27 - Kalki 2898 AD is off to a flying start a the Indian box office and is flirting with a potential 95 crores net collection in all languages. It has easily taken the biggest opening of the year and the biggest since KGF 2 by a long margin. ## Starring Prabhas in the lead role, the sci-fi epic is estimated to gross 65-70 crores in Telugu states, followed by 26-28 crores in North India. In Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, the movie is expected to gross an estimated 18-20 crores, for 110-115 crores (95 crores net) in all versions. ## The Hindi version of the movie is eyeing the biggest opening of the year beating Fighter. The Hrithik Roshan-starrer is currently the biggest Hindi opener of the year with 22.50 crores net and Kalki is looking to score an estimated 22-23 crores net collection. ## The initial word of mouth seems to be positive which should help the movie to consolidate the collection over the weekend. The Hindi version of the movie should easily cross the 75 crore net mark over the 4-day weekend which could go up to 90 crores.## It will be interesting to see how the overall collection fairs over the weekend as the collection in South India tends to drop more than normal on weekdays, however, Kalki 2898 AD could signify a good hold tomorrow before jumping on Saturday and Sunday due to positive WOM. ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, June 27 - Tamil star Suriya's much-awaited pan India movie Kanguva with director Siva has locked Dusshera 2024 release. The movie also stars Disha Patani as the female lead and Bobby Deol as the antagonist in their Tamil debut. ## The fantasy action film will be released worldwide on October 10, 2024, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada language. It will clash with Alia Bhatt's Jigra and Shahid Kapoor's Deva which are already slated for the same weekend. Kanguva is produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, and it is one of the costliest Tamil movies ever. New Delhi, June 28 - 2024 has been a poor year for the Punjabi film industry with only two films (Shinda Shinda No Papa and Jatt Nuu Chudail Takri) able to score double-digit collections at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. ## After the dull first 5 months, the first half of the year is expected to end on a strong note with Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's Jatt & Juliet 3 which is the third instalment and first since 2013 of the duo's blockbuster romantic comedy franchise. ## Jatt and Juliet 3 scored the highest-ever opening day pre-sales for a Punjabi film with close to 1.50 crores gross. With this sort of advance, the movie could have easily emerged as the biggest Pubjabi opener but it faced a mighty challenge in the form of Kalki 2898 AD which has taken the nation by storm. ## The movie, however, still scored the second-biggest opening ever for a Punjabi title with 3.50 crores net, behind Carry On Jatta 3 which took the opening of a huge 4.55 crores net and went on to become the first Punjabi movie to score 100 crores worldwide gross. Los Angeles, June 27 - Director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD starring Pan India superstar has outgrossed SS Rajamouli's period action drama RRR to score the biggest premiere for an Indian movie in North America.## RRR, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, scored a $3.3 million gross collection on its North America premiere in March 2022, and now, two years later, Kalki has beaten this record. The movie grossed $3.85 (32.10 crores) on premiere day in NA. ## Kalki 2898 AD scored $4.25 million in pre-sales for the entire weekend and could be among the top 10 movies this weekend in North America. As for the record, SS Rajamouli and Prabhas' Baahubali 2 is the highest-grossing Indian film in North America with approximately $22 million, followed by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan with $17.50 million and $15.25 million, respectively. Kalki will look to finish in the top 3. ## Meanwhile, the movie has taken an excellent opening in India and is on track to 120+ crores on opening day, and with overseas opening to a strong note, the worldwide opening is expected to be in the range of 200 crores as projected. The film is looking at one of the biggest Indian openings at the worldwide box office. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, the advance booking gross of Kalki is 50+ crores (without block seats) for all languages for the opening day, which is 4th highest ever for an Indian film after Baahubali 2, KGF Chapter 2, and RRR, or it is the best since KGF 2 which was released in April 2022. ## Here are the top 5 Indian movies with the biggest opening day pre-sales in India for all languages (without block seats) - ## 1. Los Angeles, June 26 - The stage is set for Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD to take an earth-shattering opening at the domestic and worldwide box office. As per the projection, the sci-fi epic is aiming to open in the range of 200 crores gross globally. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to shatter many records, and one of them is the opening in North America. According to Gulte.com, the film has scored $3.08 million (25.75 crores) in pre-sales in NA for the premiere, which is the highest ever for an Indian movie, beating RRR. ## The movie is heading towards scoring the biggest opening in North America as it needs just $200K from spot booking to beat the total premiere gross of RRR which scored approximately $3.3 million in 2022. Mumbai, June 26 - Varun Dhawan's action thriller Baby John has been moved back by 6 months and it will now be hitting worldwide theatres on Christmas this year. It is directed by Tamil director Kalees and also stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi as the female leads. ## Produced by Cine1 Studios, and A for Apple Productions in association with Jio Studios, Baby John was originally announced for a May 31, 2024, release but the makers postponed it due to the pending shoot. There were rumours that it might be released in July but the makers have locked December 25, 2024, release date for the same. ## Baby John is reportedly an adaptation of Atlee's Tamil film Theri (2016). Chennai, June 26 - Legendary Kamal Haasan returns as Senapathy to fight corruption in the country in the sequel to his 1996 film, Indian. Directed by S. Shankar, the first of the two-part Indian 2 is set to hit screens on July 12 in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. ## Originally, Indian 2 was planned as a single movie but the makers have now split it into two parts. At the trailer launch event on June 25, director Shankar and Kamal Haasan talked about the reasons behind splitting the movie into two parts. ## While Kamal Haasan revealed that bringing the film in 2 parts was purely director Shankar's decision as he was the right man to judge his script, the director said that the decision was taken due to the demand of the script which is lengthy and goes from regional to pan India. ## Shankar explained that the story of the film, which is based on corruption, revolves around just 1 state in Indian 2 but as the story spreads all over the country, it became important to tell this in another part, which is Indian 3. The first part is over 3 hours long. ## "Our initial idea was to do only one part. After I started filming and when I sat in the editing room, all the scenes from my point of view came out very well. If, for the sake of it, you have to make it in one part, if I compressed the whole thing, the soul of every scene, the feel of every scene would have been lost". Shankar clarified (via Times of India).## Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, appreciated the hard work put in by director Shankar and Lyca Productions to stay with the film despite many hurdles. In case you don't know, Indian 2 has been in the making since 2019, but the production was halted due to an accident in 2020 while filming that killed some crew members before the COVID-19 pandemic put a further dent. The filming was finally wrapped up in March 2024. ## The movie stars Kamal Haasan, reprising his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption, with Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani and Nedumudi Venu in the ensemble cast. ## Indian 3 will be released in early 2025.## Stay tuned...
