Mumbai, June 23 - Ever since Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, and Bobby Deol's Alpha was announced, the film has remained one of the most talked-about upcoming Bollywood releases. Whether the conversation has been positive or negative, the film has consistently remained in the spotlight due to its cast, promotional material, and association with the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe.

From teaser drops to trailer discussions, Alpha has managed to generate strong visibility across social media platforms. Ever since the project was announced, a section of the audience has continuously criticised the film, largely because of some of the talent involved rather than the actual content itself.
With the release inching closer, the biggest question remains — can Alpha surprise the trade and take a double-digit opening at the Indian box office? The YRF Spy Universe has already established its own successful formula over the years with films like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan, which became massive theatrical successes through stylish action, scale, and franchise appeal.

But at the same time, Alpha faces its own set of challenges. It is the first female-led film in the Spy Universe and also arrives after the underwhelming performance of War 2, which has slightly impacted the momentum of the franchise. The pressure on the movie has increased further after the blockbuster success of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar films, as audiences are now comparing every spy-action entertainer to Dhar's grounded and intense style.
Alpha's current trade projections suggest an opening in the range of 7–8 crore net, but the film still has a realistic chance of surprising trade expectations if it can maintain the online chatter till its release. On the positive side, the trailer response has been fairly positive, and the promotional content has repeatedly gone viral online, keeping audience curiosity alive ahead of release.

In today's digital era, constant online discussion often plays a huge role in keeping a film relevant, and Alpha has successfully remained part of the public conversation throughout its promotional campaign. While Alpha is not currently being seen as a double-digit starter, things can change pretty quickly as buzz is there for the film, plus, it is a part of a successful shared universe where cameos can trigger excitement, which seems to be happening for Alpha as well.
For now, the buzz is undeniably there, and it will be interesting to see whether that curiosity ultimately converts into strong theatrical footfalls.
