Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga's 'Joker 2' To Release On October 2 In India

Mumbai, August 28 - One of the most-anticipated Hollywood movies Folie à Deux has been moved up by Warner Bros India. The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix in the title role of Arthur Fleck/The Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. ## Directed by Todd Phillips, the musical psychological thriller will be hitting Indian cinemas on October 2nd, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Los Angeles, August 18 - 20th Century Studios' science fiction horror Alien: Romulus off to the global opening of over $100 million, against the production budget of $80 million. Mumbai, August 16 - Marvel Studios and Disney's superhero comedy Deadpool and Wolverine has officially become the highest-grossing R-rated (equivalent to A-rating in India) movie of all-time at the worldwide box office, beating Warner Bros. Pictures' Joker. ## Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the titular roles, Deadpool & Wolverine has earned $1.08+ billion globally so far, which takes it past Joker which had grossed $1.07 billion in its lifetime run. These two are the only R-rated movies to top $1 billion worldwide.## As reported earlier, Deadpool 3 is the first Disney-released Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie since Avengers: Endgame in 2019 to top $1 billion globally, and, it is also the first R-rated movie released by Disney. Disney's 'Frozen 3' Sets A Release Date

Mumbai, August 14 - Disney's animated blockbuster Frozen III will make its big screen debut in November 2027. ## Walt Disney Animation's chief creative officer Jennifer Lee announced on Wednesday at D23 that the third installment of the musical fantasy franchise will be released on November 24, 2027, according to the report by The Hollywood Reporter.## Frozen 3 was originally scheduled for a 2026 release but the production is getting delayed due to various reasons which made Disney push the film to the Thanksgiving weekend in 2027. Apart from setting the release date of Frozen 3, Jennifer Lee previously confirmed that the fourth movie in the series is also in development.## Frozen has been a money-making franchise for Disney as both the previous films grossed over $1 billion each at the worldwide box office. Marvel Studios Scrapped Plans For 'Eternals 2'

Mumbai, August 14 - Marvel Studios has reportedly scrapped plans to develop Eternals 2 after the first movie didn't do well at the box office. The movie was directed by Chloé Zhao and introduced new superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.## While the ending (hailed as one of the best in the MCU) of Eternals suggested the character would return in the sequel, Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently said that there are no immediate plans to make Eternals 2 and now, as per Variety, the studio has dropped plans to develop it.## The news of scrapping Eternals 2 comes from Variety reporting on actor Kit Harington discussing his MCU role. The post-credit scene of Eternals was supposed to set up Kit Harington to appear in Blade along with Mahershala Ali, however, Blade has been delayed multiple times and is presently getting retooled.## Eternals was the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and it starred an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. ## The film met with disappointing critics reviews and above-average audience score. Mumbai, August 10 - Maverick filmmaker James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar 3 has unveiled its official title on Friday during the D23 expo. The first two movies in the franchise have already been etched in the history books with monstrous box office performances.## During the D23 event, James Cameron along with stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington revealed that the third Avatar blockbuster will be titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, setting the stage for the things unfold in Pandora. ## "You'll see a lot more pandora that you never saw before. It's an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it's also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. Mumbai, July 30 - Marvel Studios shocked the entertainment fraternity when it announced the much-talked-about comeback of Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to headline the next Avengers movies along with the director duo of Russo Brothers (Joe Russo and Anthony Russo) at the San Diego Comic-Con event recently.## Unlike what people might have thought Downey Jr. would make a comeback as Iron Man, the superhero character he has donned over the years since the inception of the MCU, the actor has been tasked to play the villainous Doctor Doom this time around.## Though the casting of Downey Jr. has garnered a mixed reception no one can deny the fact that it, along with Russos' directorial MCU comeback only gonna benefit Marvel big time just like the old days when they used to help Marvel print money at the box office like the back of hand. This, however, will cost Marvel way more than what it used to pay the Iron Man star and Russos in the past.## According to Variety, the Kavin Fiege-owned Marvel will sign a $80 million paycheck for Anthony and Joe Russo to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars and significantly more for Robert Downey Jr. to tackle uber-villain Doctor Doom in the two tentpoles. ## The report further revealed that the Russos' deal with the studio doesn't include back-end compensation, but it does contain performance escalators that kick in at the $750 million and $1 billion thresholds. It is to be noted that the director duo is also producing the upcoming Avengers movies under their banner AGBO.## Downey Jr. has been by far the biggest paid member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Variety reports that the actor has earned between $500 million and $600 million for playing Iron Man. For the upcoming Avengers movies, the actor will get the perks that include private jet travel, dedicated security and a whole trailer encampment, other than his massive undisclosed payday, which is, as said above, way more than Russos.## Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars are scheduled to be released in May 2026, and May 2027, respectively. Mumbai, July 28 - Marvel Studios returns to its old box office glory with Deadpool and Wolverine which blew the industry projection away to create history at the box office by scoring the biggest opening for an R-rated (equivalent to A rating in India) at the domestic and worldwide box office.## Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool & Wolverine shattered records to score $211 million (1765 crores) in the 3-day opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. This is the biggest opening for an R-rated and 8th biggest of all time for any movie, beating fellow MCU title Black Panther's $202 million start.## At the overseas box office, the Shawn Levy's directorial superhero comedy grossed a spectacular $233 million (1950 crores) on a 5-day opening weekend over 52 markets, for a worldwide cume opening weekend of $444 million (3720 crores) as the 11th biggest Hollywood opening ever at the global box office.## Only 13 movies in history have opened to $400+ million worldwide, as Deadpool 3 beats Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's $422 million and also edged past Avatar: The Way of Water's $441 million to claim the 11th spot in terms of worldwide gross opening weekend.## China is the biggest international market with $24 million weekend, followed by the UK with $22.10 million, and Mexico with $18.70 million at 2nd and 3rd spot, respectively. California, July 28 - Amid the shocking announcement of Robert Downey Jr.'s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) coming back in a different avatar, Marvel Studios has revealed the title of Fantastic Four which will be the 37th movie in the MCU.## During Marvel Studios' most anticipated panel at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on Sunday (IST), the film's title was revealed as Fantastic Four: First Steps. The movie stars Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing). ## WandaVision director, Matt Shakman has been tasked to direct the latest take on the classic Marvel team that originated in the comics in 1961. Oscar winner Michael Giacchino was confirmed as the composer of the film that is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025, as the first movie in the MCU's Phase 6.## The original Fantastic Four movie, starring Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis, was released in 2005, followed by its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007 with the same cast. Box Office: Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Becomes First Film Franchise To Hit $30 Billion Worldwide

Mumbai, July 28 - Marvel Studios/Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has become the first-ever movie franchise to hit $30 billion at the worldwide box office after the release of the latest blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine. The milestone was announced during the studio's Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, led by studio chief Kevin Feige.## MCU started with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man (2008) which grossed $586 million globally. The latest Deadpool & Wolverine which is the 34th movie in the blockbuster franchise pushed the MCU to become the first to reach the $30 billion milestone after the record opening for an R-rated title and is poised to score $450+ million in its global opening weekend. ## The comic book turned into a feature film franchise has delivered unbelievable success for Marvel/Disney. Across the 34 films so far, Avengers: Endgame ($2.799 billion) and Avengers: Infinity War ($2.05 billion) stand as the two highest-grossing MCU films globally, followed by Spider-Man: No Way Home as the third biggest with $1.92 billion.## Between the top-grossing titles, MCU has also seen tough days with major mishits such as The Marvels, the 33rd movie in the franchise, and the most recent to Deadpool 3. It is the lowest-grossing MCU title ever with just $206 million worldwide. Box Office: 'Deadpool and Wolverine' And 'Raayan' Second Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 27 - After the huge opening day of approximately 21 crores net (approx. 27 crores gross), Marvel Studios' superhero comedy Deadpool and Wolverine has witnessed a jump of around 10% on its second day at the Indian box office which is good for an A-rated Hollywood title. ## According to the early estimates, the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer blockbuster scored in the range of 22.50-23.50 crores net (28-30 crores gross) on its second day, pushing the 2-days total to around 44 crores net and 55+ crores gross in all versions.## The jump in the collection indicates the positive word of mouth among the moviegoers. These types of films tend to stay flat after the big opening. The Marvel tag, however, is a big plus as it is a popular movie brand in India and with positive reception, Marvel movies have done well in the past and Deadpool 3 should be the next on this list. ## The Shawn Lavy's directorial is heading for around 67-70 crores net (85+ crores gross) on the opening weekend which is an excellent result for the movie.## On the other hand, the Tamil movie Raayan has a super solid hold on its second day after delivering the career-best opening for actor Dhanush with approximately 15.75 crores gross in India. On its second day, the action thriller scored an estimated 15.50-16.50 crores gross (13.50-14.50 crores net) in all versions.## South Indian movies tend to see a drop on their second day after the big opening but this was not the case with Raayan which is riding high on the positive word of mouth.
