Chennai, April 29 - Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli has become the highest-grossing re-release film at the Indian box office in the 21st century. The sports action drama film, which was re-released on April 20, has grossed approximately 20 crores in India in 9 days. ## The 20 crores domestic gross collection of Ghilli makes it the biggest re-release grosser, beating James Cameron's Avatar 3D which minted 18 crores back in 2012. Iconic blockbuster Sholay 3D (2013) is the third biggest grosser with 13 crores. ## As reported earlier, Ghilli will also become the third highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 at the domestic box office. It is currently at number 4, behind Lal Salaam which minted around 21 crores gross earlier this year. ## At the worldwide box office, the 20-year-old film has grossed over 26 crores and will be topping the 30 crores mark in the next few days. Hyderabad, April 29 - Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya reunited with director Chandoo Mondeti for a rustic love story action thriller Thandel which is scheduled to release theatrically later this year. The movie has Sai Pallavi as the female lead, reuniting with Chaitanya after Love Story (2021). ## Thandel is touted to be the best film of Naga Chaitanya and hence, not only in trade, the movie is in hot demand in digital and satellite. Recently, it was announced that Netflix acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the movie and now, according to the latest Telugu media reports, the streamer has paid a whopping 40 crores for the same. ## The 40 crores deal with Netflix is the highest-ever digital deal for a Naga Chaitanya film which shows the anticipation for the movie among the audiences. It is not yet clear how long the theatrical window will be but Netflix usually pay higher prices for a short window (4 weeks). ## Thandel is produced by GA2 Pictures in association with Geetha Arts. Devi Sri Prasad scores the music for the movie which is said to be the biggest budgeted one for Chaitanya. Mumbai, April 29 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will reportedly be playing a cameo role in his nephew, Imran Khan's comeback movie, tentatively titled Happy Patel. The movie, directed by comedian turned-director Vir Das, will mark Imran Khan's comeback after 9 years. ## According to a report by Peepingmoon.com, Aamir will make a brief cameo appearance in this movie, sharing the screen with his nephew for the first time. The superstar will be playing the role of Don in the film that is set in Goa. ## The shoot of the film has already begun and Aamir Khan will reportedly complete his portion today (April 29). Happy Patel is said to be a satirical spy comedy in which Imran will be playing a secret agent, alongside Vir Das, who is also directing, writing, and co-producing it. ## Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the comic thriller movie also stars Mithila Palkar, Sharib Hashmi, and Mona Singh in pivotal roles. Happy Patel is scheduled for a theatrical release later this year. Chennai, April 29 - Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli is turning the clock back with an impressive performance at the box office since its re-release on April 20. The sports action drama has easily been the number-one Tamil film since last week at the domestic and worldwide box office. ## Ghilli scored 14.50+ crores gross collection in its first week (6 days) in India, and with not much competition, it was again one of the top-performing films in the second weekend with a gross collection of around 5.50 crores.## The total collection of Ghilli is around 20 crores gross in 9 days in India. It is currently the 4th highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 at the domestic box office, behind Ayalaan, Captain Miller, and Lal Salaam. By today or tomorrow, the film will cross Lal Salaam to become the third biggest Tamil grosser of the year.## At the worldwide box office, Ghilli has grossed approximately 26 crores and will be topping the 30 crores mark in the coming days. Pictures has its third $500 million grosser in just 5 months at the worldwide box office as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire joins Dune Part 2 and Wonka in this elite club. ## The Adam Wingard's directorial MonsterVerse film, as of Sunday (April 28), grossed $519.3 million (4330 crores) at the worldwide box office, including $337.7 million (2815 crores) internationally and $181.7 million (1515) domestically (North America).## China has been the biggest overseas market for Godzilla x Kong with $125.90 million (1050 crores). India too has been in the top 5 box office market for the film with a gross collection of around 122 crores ($14.60 million), making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise in India.## Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Pictures' Dune 2 hit $700 million globally. It has grossed $704.3 million (5875 crores) worldwide with overseas markets contributing $424.5 million (3540 crores) to the gross, and $279.7 million (2335 crores) coming from domestic box office. Mumbai, April 28 - The hugely-awaited courtroom drama film Jolly LLB 3 shoot has commenced today April 28 in Rajasthan. The new image from the set has confirmed the development of this Subhash Kapoor's directorial venture. ## It is said that Arshad Warsi will join the month-long first schedule but there is no clarity on when his co-star Akshay will start the filming. Saurabh Shukla, who has been a part of this courtroom comedy, will be seen playing the judge yet again.## Jolly LLB 3 is the third instalment of the superhit franchise. Hyderabad, April 28 - Maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli's period action drama Baahubali 2 The Conclusion has completed 7 years since its release in 2017. Mumbai, April 27 - Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has topped 100 crores net collection at the Indian box office, becoming the first Hollywood movie of 2024 and the first ever in the MonsterVerse to achieve the feat. ## The Adam Wingard's directorial blockbuster has grossed over 120 crores (100+ crores net) at the Indian box office in 29 days. In its 4th week, the movie grossed around 8 crores, dropping around 38% despite the arrival of the new Indian releases. ## India has been one of the biggest overseas markets for Godzilla x Kong. The movie was released on March 29 and scored 69+ crores gross collection in the first week. It held strongly in the second with to gross of approximately 29.50 crores (-57.60%), followed by 13 crores (-56%) in the third week. ## The sequel has performed well in the Southern Indian states, especially in Tamil Nadu. It is among the highest-grossing Hollywood films in the state. ## At the worldwide box office, Godzilla x Kong has crossed $500 million, including $175 million (1450+ crores) domestically (North America). Mumbai, April 27 - The month of April 2024 is turning out to be one of the poorest months for the Bollywood film industry as the new films are failing to take even initials. After Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Maidaan, Do Aur Do Pyaar, and LSD 2, Aayush Sharma's Ruslaan joins the list of non-starters. ## Ruslaan was not going to open big as there was not much face value involved in it. The movie opened in the expected lines and scored approximately 55 lakh net collection. To everyone's surprise, Ruslaan managed to open similar to last week's Do Aur Do Pyaar (55 lakh) which had the face value in the form of Vidya Balan. ## The opening of Ruslaan is still poor and makers pinned their hopes on word of mouth to survive at the box office but that doesn't seem to be happening as initial reception is poor.
