Los Angeles, December 1 - Dinsey's animated musical adventure film Moana puts itself in the history book with the record-breaking opening at the domestic and worldwide box office over a 5-day Thanksgiving weekend. ## The Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson voiced blockbuster sequel has beaten Frozen 2 ($358 million) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($375.6 million) to score the biggest worldwide opening for an animated title after a massive $389.2 million over 5-day weekend. ## Moana 2 grossed a gigantic $225.2 million over the 5-day biggest Thanksgiving weekend of all time and the biggest opening of 2024 at the domestic (North America) box office. Overseas, the film scored a huge $164 million from 48 overseas markets. ## France was the biggest overseas market for Moana 2 with $18.8 million opening weekend, followed by the UK with $15.5 million, and Mexico at $11.1 million. In India, the film grossed approximately $1.75 million (14.75 crores gross) in the 3-day opening weekend. ## In the post-Covid world, Moana 2 has the 5th biggest opening for a non-Chinese film after Spider-Man: No Way Home ($600 million), Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness ($452 million), Deadpool & Wolverine ($445 million), and Avatar: The Way of Water ($442 million). ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, December 1 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the 15th highest-grossing Indian movie at the Chinese box office after a very good opening weekend which saw the film crossing the $3 million mark there. ## After scoring $2.30 million (19.50 crores gross) in the first 2 days (including premieres), Maharaja scored approximately 900K (7.50 crores gross) on Sunday, pushing the total collection to around $3.2 million (27 crores) in the opening weekend. ## With $3.2 million, Maharaja has become the 15th highest-grossing Indian movie in China (in terms of dollars) while in Indian currency, it has become the 13th biggest grosser there by beating Drishyam (27 crore gross), Kaabil (23.50 crores gross), and 102 Not Out (22.50 crores gross). ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja's next target is Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan which grossed approximately 60 crores in China. If it manages to hold well during the working day, the movie can get close to that target which will be a good result. ## The total worldwide collection of Maharaja is now around 133 crores gross and is heading towards the 150 crores mark. Hyderabad, December 1 - Superstar Allu Arjun's action drama Pushpa 2 - The Rule is all set to create history at the Indian box office in terms of taking the opening as it is heading towards the biggest start ever for an Indian title by a long margin. ## The advance booking of this highly-anticipated film opened on November 30 and as expected, the tickets are getting sold like a hot cake. Within 48 hours, the pre-sales of the film has crossed 25 crores gross (including block seats) for the opening day in all versions (as of 7:30 PM on December 1). ## The Hindi version, which will be eyeing the biggest start ever in India, has around 50% contribution to the total pre-sales, followed by the original Telugu version. It has sold over 700K tickets (including block seats) and is marching towards 1 million in record time. ## Pushpa 2 might become the first Indian movie to score 100 crore gross pre-sales for the opening day as the pace so far has been phenomenal and is expected to continue or even pick up with less than 4 days left for the release.## The trade is expecting Pushpa 2 to score 200+ crore gross opening at the Indian box office and it looks like will achieve the feat as it will be released on over 80% of the total available screens in the country which is a never-before-seen scenario. Mumbai, December 1 - After a dull couple of months post-Stree 2's mega success in August, the festival of Diwali brought good luck for the Bollywood film industry in November, thanks to the two of the most-waited films - Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again. ## Rohit Shetty's directorial cop action drama Singham 3, starring Ajay Devgn, was the bigger film. However, it was Kartik Aaryan's horror comedy that rocked the show and won the clash with a superb collection in India and worldwide. SA though wasn't too far and did reasonably well at the box office.## Even after 4 weeks of release, both films doing well on a day-wise basis at the domestic box office, and thanks to that, their combined net collection has topped 500 crores making it the biggest Diwali ever at the Indian box office. ## Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has emerged as a super hit and through the 5th Saturday (30th day), it has minted approximately 255+ crores net collection. On the other hand, Singham Again is an average-to-hit venture with around 245 crores net collection in the same number of days. ## As reported earlier, BB3 is the biggest grosser for Kartik Aaryan as well as for director Anees Bazmee and the rest of the main cast. Los Angeles, November 30 - A record-breaking Thanksgiving weekend is ongoing at the North American box office with the top 3 films - Moana 2, Wicked and Gladiator 2 going all out for the big money. Only these three films alone are projected to earn a gigantic over $375+ million over the 5-day weekend. ## Meanwhile, amid the Moana 2's monstrous opening, Ariana Grande-Butera and Cynthia Erivo's epic musical fantasy film Wicked has breached a major box office milestone at the domestic box office as it has become the highest-grossing musical adaptation and first to reach $200 million in North America. ## Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked grossed a strong $32 million on its second Friday, pushing total domestic (North America) cume to $214.3 million. It has beaten Grease (1978) which grossed $190 million to become the biggest musical adaptation grosser domestically. ## Wicked is projected to finish its run, at least, at $450 million with a chance to go past $500 million at the domestic box office. Chennai, November 30 - Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan has taken a giant step towards becoming the next big star in Tamil cinema with his latest war action drama film Amaran which has emerged as the biggest Tamil blockbuster of the year and one of the biggest in recent times. ## Released on October 31, the Rajkumar Periasamy's directorial has bossed the box office, grossing approximately 325 crores worldwide in 30 days so far. It is the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## Amaran has benefitted from the extended theatrical window which has been normalized to just 4 weeks by the industry. The blockbuster run of the film prompted the makers to extend the window by 1 more week and it will now arrive after 35 days which is the first for a recent Tamil title. ## On Saturday (November 30), Netflix announced that Amaran would start streaming from December 5, which is 35 days after the theatrical release. Chennai, November 30 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja is having a fantastic time at the Chinese box office and has crossed 20 crore gross mark in just 2 days (including premieres) and is heading towards a very good opening weekend collection. ## After grossing $633K+ (5.40 crores gross) in the premieres, followed by $550K (4.60 crores gross) on the first day, the Nithilan Saminathan's directorial venture breached the million dollar mark on Saturday (2nd day), thanks the positive word of mouth there. ## According to the local box office platform ENT Group, Maharaja has grossed approximately $1.10 million (9.30 crores gross) on its second day, pushing the total collection to around $2.30 million (19.50 crores gross) at the Chinese box office in 2 days. It has crossed the 20 crore mark including pre-sales for tomorrow.## The film sold over 200K tickets on Saturday and the total admissions so far are 420K+ which is the highest for an Indian title there post the Covid-19 pandemic. The opening weekend collection is probably heading for 30+ crores which is fantastic. ## The worldwide collection of Maharaja is now approximately 126 crores gross, including the Chinese collection and it will be breaching the 150 crores mark soon which is a big achievement. Hyderabad, November 30 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan has teamed up with Uppena director Buchi Babu Sana for his next, a rural action drama tentatively titled RC 16. Mythri Movie Makers produce the movie for which the shoot has already begun. ## The makers have roped in a superb star cast to headline the project with Ram Charan. Actress Janhvi Kapoor, who made her Telugu debut with the recently released superstar Jr. NTR-starrer Devara, has been confirmed to play the female lead in RC 16. ## Mirzapur fame and Bollywood actor Divyenndu will also be a part of the film and the announcement for the same was made on Saturday (November 30), marking the actor's debut in Telugu cinema.
