Box Office: 'Moana 2' Scores Biggest Worldwide Opening For An Animated Movie

Los Angeles, December 1 - Dinsey's animated musical adventure film Moana puts itself in the history book with the record-breaking opening at the domestic and worldwide box office over a 5-day Thanksgiving weekend. ## The Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson voiced blockbuster sequel has beaten Frozen 2 ($358 million) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($375.6 million) to score the biggest worldwide opening for an animated title after a massive $389.2 million over 5-day weekend. ## Moana 2 grossed a gigantic $225.2 million over the 5-day biggest Thanksgiving weekend of all time and the biggest opening of 2024 at the domestic (North America) box office. Overseas, the film scored a huge $164 million from 48 overseas markets. ## France was the biggest overseas market for Moana 2 with $18.8 million opening weekend, followed by the UK with $15.5 million, and Mexico at $11.1 million. In India, the film grossed approximately $1.75 million (14.75 crores gross) in the 3-day opening weekend. ## In the post-Covid world, Moana 2 has the 5th biggest opening for a non-Chinese film after Spider-Man: No Way Home ($600 million), Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness ($452 million), Deadpool & Wolverine ($445 million), and Avatar: The Way of Water ($442 million). ## Stay tuned...
