Chennai, November 17 - Kollywood star Suriya's Kanguva has an underwhelming extended opening weekend at the box office, considering the hype and craze it had among the fans before release. The movie scored a good opening but it has been a downfall since then. ## The movie scored a minor jump on Sunday, however, a big jump which was needed after the underwhelming first 3 days, was missing. According to the early estimates, the fantasy action thriller scored an estimated 12-13 crores gross collection in all versions on its 4th day. ## In Tamil Nadu, the movie scored more or less in the similar range as yesterday for an estimated 5.50 crores gross while showing a minor jump in most of the other areas. The total first 4-day weekend collection is around 64 crores gross in India, which is underwhelming. ## The negative word of mouth has affected Kanguva big time during the first weekend and now, a rebound looks difficult from hereon. Hyderabad, November 17 - Actor Dulquer Salmaan, who has done the majority of his films in the Malayalam cinema since debuting in this industry back in 2012, finally scored his maiden 100 crores grosser that too from a straight Telugu film, titled Lucky Bashkar. ## Directed by Venky Atluri, the period crime drama film topped this magical box office milestone on its 18th day (3rd Sunday), becoming the first movie of Dulquer and the second for director Atluri (after Vaathi/Sir) to achieve the feat. ## Lucky Bashkar grossed approximately 76 crores domestically and 26.50 crores overseas for a worldwide cume total of 102.50 crores through the third Sunday. It has also become the 6th Telugu movie of 2024 to breach this box office mark. ## The Telugu film industry has been lucky for Dulquer Salmaan who has a 100% success rate in Tollywood. The actor debuted in Tollywood with director Nag Ashwin's Mahanati (2018) which became a big success. Hyderabad, November 17 - The trailer of superstar Allu Arjun's hugely-anticipated action drama film Pushpa 2 - The Rule was launched on November 17 in Patna in the presence of hundreds of fans. It was the first time that the trailer of a Pan India film or any other major movie was launched in the city. ## The trailer promises to wild action ride where Pushpa Raj goes internationally to rule. Bengaluru, November 17 - Kannada star Rishab Shetty's hugely anticipated folk action thriller Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1, which is the prequel to the 2022 mega-blockbuster Kantara, has locked a festive, October 2025 release date in multiple languages. ## Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 will be hitting worldwide theatres on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on October 2, 2025. It will have a Thursday release, with a clear advantage over the 4-day opening weekend. Chennai, November 17 — Actress Jyothika has called out the targeted negativity towards her husband, actor Suriya. The award-winning actress took to Instagram and shared her thoughts on Suriya's latest movie Kanguva and how it has been made to suffer with hate campaigns by media and certain fraternities. ## While admitting that Kanguva is not a perfect film with some issues, especially in the first half-hour, the actress said it is also not a bad movie that deserves such a high level of negativity. The movie was released on November 14 and was bashed left, right, and centre on social media which has already affected the box office of the film. ## Speaking about the same, Jyotika said in a long note on Instagram, "I'm surprised with the negative reviews from media and certain fraternities, as it's not done by them to this high level for the most unintellectual big budget films I have seen earlier with age-old stories, where women r stalked, double meaning dialogues r spoken and have the most over the top action sequences".## The actor-producer further said that the media intentionally ignored the positive side while reviewing the film and that has made her wonder largely whether one should ever read, listen or believe reviewers after all. ## "It's sad that they chose this much negativity for Kanguva on day 1, even before the first show was over (seemed more like multiple group propagandas) when it actually deserves applause for the concept and effort taken by the team to create 3D and such a magnificent visual", she added.## Directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green, Kanguva opened to record numbers for actor Suriya but dropped heavily in the next 2 days. Chennai, November 16 - Tamil star Suriya's big-budget fantasy action thriller Kanguva failed to score a big jump on its first Saturday which was a must after the underwhelming second day. As expected, the negative word of mouth has started cutting the audience. ## According to the early estimates, on the first Saturday/third day the all-India gross of the movie is almost in the similar range as yesterday with around 11 crores gross. The movie has seen a decent but not enough jump in the home state Tamil Nadu with an estimated around 5 crore gross collection today. ## Kanguva needed a big jump today to cover the lost ground but that didn't happen which shows the movie is facing rejection from the audience. Apart from Tamil Nadu, the movie has seen a drop almost everywhere which is concerning. It is unlikely the movie will see much turnaround on Sunday but a drop will seal the deal. ## The total domestic collection of the film after 3 days is around 51 crores gross which could have been a very good collection of any of Suriya's previous films but can't be said the same about Kanguva which was made on a huge budget. Mumbai, November 16 - Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn share a great rapport and have come together to lend helping hands more to promote each other's films, something which is lacking among the current generation of Bollywood actors. ## Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on November 16, the duo was asked whether Bollywood lack unity when it comes to clashing their films, unlike South Indian cinema which often avoids big clashes. Both Akshay and Ajay agreed that there is a lack of unity in the industry but also assert that the same is not among the 90s stars. ## Ajay said that he along with Akshay, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, who all debuted around the 1990s, are there for each other when it comes to supporting each other films and never made things difficult for each other which is not the case for the current gen of actors, who, as reported many a times, don't support each other's movies.## The actor also reflects on the noble gesture by Akki towards him regarding the title of Son of Sardaar. Speaking about the same, the Tanhaji star said that the title of SOS was registered by Akshay and when he needed that title for his comic caper, the latter gave the title to him without even a blink.## Son of Sardaar (2012) later became a big box office hit and now its sequel, Son of Sardaar 2 is currently under production for the release in the first half of 2025. Mumbai, November 16 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, who made his directorial debut in 2008 with U Me Aur Hum, has announced his 5th directorial venture which will be headlined by none other than Akshay Kumar. The project was officially confirmed Hindustan Times Summit on Saturday. ## The yet-untitled project is currently in the scripting stage. It is also not clear whether Ajay Devgn will act alongside Akshay just like his previous four directorial features. The shooting details are also under wraps for now. ## Ajay Devgn, the director is known for his technical brilliance and his film with Akshay is keenly awaited. Chennai, November 16 - In a dramatic turn of events, actress Nayanthara has slammed actor Dhanush in an open letter to him. The controversy erupted when Dhanush denied permission to use the footage of his production venture Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015) in Nayanthara's upcoming Netflix docuseries, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. ## In a lengthy note to the actor, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of demanding a 10 crore sum for using a mere 3 seconds of a video clip from the movie in the documentary. The actress said in the note that she and her team gave up the idea of using the clips of the film since Dhanush denied giving NOC despite several requests. ## "After two long years of battling it out with you for an NOC (No Objection Certificate) and waiting for your approval for our Netflix documentary release, we finally decided to give up, re-edit and settle for the current version since you declined to permit the usage of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan songs or visual cuts, even the photographs to say the least despite multiple requests", Nayanthara said in the letter.## The actress also seemingly character-shamed Dhanush by alleging that he is not the person he portrays to be on the stage in the audio launches in front of his fans. Chennai, November 16 - Sivakarthikeyan's mega-blockbuster Amaran has unlocked one more milestone as it has become the second Tamil movie of 2024 to top 200 crores gross collection at the domestic box office after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## The movie, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, crossed the milestone on its 16th day after grossing another 4+ crores on the day. The total domestic collection after the third Friday stands at approximately 202 crores gross (175+ crores net). ## Amaran is expected to score a 100% jump on Saturday and then have another big day on Sunday as the third weekend is probably heading for around 20 crores gross which will take the total domestic collation to around 218+ crores gross.## Overseas, the biographical action drama has so far grossed an estimated 75 crores in 16 days and the movie has a chance to top 300 crores gross worldwide by the third Sunday. Chennai, November 16 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja which scored a huge commercial and critical acclaim earlier this year, is set to hit Chinese theatres later this month. The movie is directed by Nithilan Saminathan and produced by The Route, Think Studios, and Passion Studios. ## Maharaja was released in June this year and five months later, director Nithilan confirmed on social media that it would be released in China on November 29 by Alibaba Group. The cast of the movie also includes Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natty Natraj in important roles. ## It is the 50th movie of Vijay Sethupathi and it emerged to be his biggest grosser with a worldwide collection of approximately 106 crores. Some of the Indian films have done wonders in China and Maharaja clicks with the audiences, it can reap rich rewards at the box office. ## The film follows Maharaja (Sethupathi), a barber in Chennai, who goes to the police station to retrieve his stolen dustbin only for the police officers to find his intentions to be something else.
