Mumbai, June 25 - Kangana Ranaut, the recently elected member of parliament, has announced a new release date for his long-awaited biographical political drama Emergency on the day of the 50th year of The Emergency imposed in 1975 for two years by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi. ## The movie, which is written, directed and stars Kangana Ranaut as the late Indira Gandhi, was supposed to be released on June 14 but it will now hit worldwide theatres on September 6, 2024, and will have a solo release. Kangana has also produced it under her banner Manikarnika Films with EaseMyTrip. ## Emergency marks Kangana's second directorial venture after Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which she co-directed with Krish Jagarlamudi in 2019. Apart from the Queen actress, Emergency also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik as various political leaders. ## National award-winning music composer, G. V. Mumbai, June 25 - We might have the first Indian film since SS Rajamouli's RRR (2022) and third overall to take the opening of 200 crores at the worldwide box office when Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD releases on June 27 as one of India's biggest movies of the year. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi epic is having tremendous hype among the audience and the advance booking response tells the same. The bookings for the movie opened a couple of days ago and it is already flying high, especially in Telugu states with record-breaking numbers. ## The pre-sales of Kalki 2898 AD for the Hindi version are seeing a good response which reaffirms Prabhas' ever-growing stature among the Hindi audience. The booking in Hindi is trending on par or slightly better than Prabhas' last movie, Salaar: Part 1 and this has assured a good opening. ## Given the pre-sales response and the track record of Prabhas with recent films, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to take the opening of 120-140 crores gross in India. In Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the movie is expected to open in the range of 90-100 crores. In North India, it is expected to take an opening of around 20 crores while Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala are likely to give a 15+ crore start to the movie. ## Overseas, Kalki 2898 AD is having excellent pre-sales which certainly makes it a bigger starter than Salaar. Mumbai, June 25 - Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is reuniting with his director father David Dhawan, for the fourth time for a comic entertainer. The duo previously collaborated for Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2, and Coolie No. 1 (direct digital release). ## The yet-untitled upcoming film is said to be an original script unlike the previous three collaborations of the duo and is touted to be a hilarious entertainer. Now according to the report by Pinkvilla, Southern beauty Sreeleela has been roped in to play the female lead. ## Sreeleela has been super busy for the last couple of years in the Telugu film industry and is now set to make her mark in Bollywood with her debut outing opposite Varun Dhawan. The movie will have two actresses and the second female lead is said to be Mrunal Thakur. ## "Much like all David Dhawan comedies, this one is also a love triangle where the humour is a result of confusion in the leading man's life. The team has roped in Sreeleela to play Varun's love interest in the film. It's a pakka-commercial entertainer and Sreeleela also feels that this would be the perfect launch pad for her in the Hindi markets", says the report. ## The movie will be produced by Ramesh Taurani under the banner of TIPS Entertainment. Mumbai, June 24 - Bollywood star Sunny Deol is in no mood to stop after testing blood with the mega-blockbuster success of Gadar 2 last year. The movie grossed close to 700 crores worldwide and became one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of all time. ## After Gadar 2, Sunny Deol has been on a signing spree and the latest movie he has signed is Telugu director Gopichand Malineni's mass entertainer, tentatively called SDGM (Sunny Deol, Gopichand Malineni). Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, the shoot of the movie has already commenced for 2025 release. ## Sunny Deol will be playing a common man in the movie who takes on a powerful villain. Gopichand Malineni shared details about Sunny's role in a recent interview (via Mid-Day). The filmmaker also revealed that the story is inspired by many real-life incidents. ## "I'll present him in a never-before-seen action avatar. After Gadar 2 was released, I narrated the story to Sunny sir. He said yes immediately, adding that he was looking for this kind of role. Sunny sir doesn’t play a man in uniform. While it is the story of a common man who takes on [the system] to fight for what is right, it is an unusual concept", the Veera Simha Reddy director said. ## Adding further, Gopichand Malineni said that they have roped in three action directors as there are strong action set-pieces in this movie. Apart from Sunny Deol, the two leading ladies, Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra will also be seen in fierce avatars. Mumbai, June 24 - Maddock Films' Munjya has topped 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office, becoming the 7th Bollywood film of 2024 to achieve the feat. The horror-comedy entered the 100 crores gross club on its 17th day. ## Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya has approximately 98.35 crores gross (83.30 crores net) in India and an estimated 4.25 crores overseas for 102.60 crores worldwide gross through the third Sunday. It is the second movie in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe to reach the 100 crores mark after Stree (182 crores).## Starring Abhay Verma, and Sharvari Wagh, Munjya is in the race to top 100 crores net collection. It is expected to reach around 90 crores mark by the end of the second week and then, the race to the century mark will begin thereafter. It will be a major competition next week in the form of Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD which releases on June 27. ## Munjya is the 4th film in the horror-comedy universe of producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films after Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya. In the movie, a young man's visit to his native village unveils a family secret and a vengeful spirit, the Munjya, who wants to get married. Mumbai, June 24 - Tamil director Atlee Kumar is looking to finalize his next film after delivering a massive blockbuster in the form of superstar Shah Rukh Khan-fronted Jawan last year. The filmmaker was supposed to follow with a film with Allu Arjun but he has reportedly backed out. ## After Allu Arjun pulled out of the film, Atlee reportedly approached superstar Salman Khan for his next which is said to be a 2-hero action entertainer. Now, according to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker has approached megastar Rajinikanth to headline the film with Salman. ## It is said that the formal meeting of Atlee, Rajinikanth, and Salman Khan will happen next month and things are expected to turn out positive. "Sun Pictures will be producing the film and they share a family-like bond with superstar Rajinikanth. Atlee on the other hand has been in touch with Salman Khan for the last two years. They are confident to get both Rajinikanth and Salman Khan on board", says the report. ## If this once-in-a-generation collaboration gets finalised, the makers are aiming to take the movie on floors by the end of this year. Salman Khan is currently shooting for AR Murugadoss' Sikandar while Rajinikanth will soon start Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie. Mumbai, June 24 - Disney and Pixar's Inside Out 2 has become the highest-grossing film of 2024 within just 2 weeks, beating the entire worldwide collection of Warner Bros. Pictures' Dune: Part 2 as the animated coming-of-age heading towards becoming the first billion-dollar grosser of the year. ## The sequel to Inside Out (2015) has had an excellent second weekend at the domestic (North America) and worldwide box office with $264+ million, taking its total global cume to $724+ million (6050 crores) in just 12 days, beating Dune 2's $711 million final run. ## IO2 scored $100 million in its second weekend in North America, becoming the first animated movie and 7th overall to do so. The total domestic collection reached $355 million (2965 crores) and the lifetime domestic total is projected to finish around $650 million. ## Overseas, the movie has grossed $369 million (3085 crores) after adding another huge $164+ million in the second weekend. Mexico is the biggest overseas market for the movie with $64 million, followed by the UK with $29.2 million, and Korea with $29 million. In India, the movie has grossed approximately 20 crores ($2.4 million) in 10 days so far. ## Inside Out 2 is projected to finish its worldwide run around $1.5 billion, which will put it among the top 3 highest-grossing animated movies of all time. Hyderabad, June 23 - The Prabhas-mania has begun as the advance booking of the highly-anticipated Pan India movie Kalki 2898 AD is off to a flying start in the Telugu states with tickets getting sold like hotcakes. ## The full-fledged pre-sales of the sci-fi epic, directed by Nag Ashwin, were opened on the evening of June 23 in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Chennai, June 23 - The Tamil film industry is bouncing back with back-to-back box office success, however, the industry is yet to score its first 100 crores grosser worldwide in 2024. Horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 came very close to the mark but fell a little short at approximately 99.50 crores gross. ## The second half of 2024 looking bright for Kollywood with multiple potential blockbusters lined up for release, but ahead of that, the industry may score its first 100 crore grosser in the form of Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja which is simply unstoppable at the moment. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has grossed an estimated 75 crores at the worldwide box office, including 55.75 crores in India and 19.25 crores overseas in just 9 days so far and is in a very good position to enter the 100 crores gross club in the coming days. Chennai, June 23 - Legendary Kamal Haasan is set to have a busy next few weeks with back-to-back releases, including the vigilante action film Indian 2 which reunited him with director S. Shankar for the first time since its predecessor (1996).## On Sunday (June 23), Lyca Productions took to social media to announce that the trailer of Indian 2 will be launched on June 25, a little over two weeks before the film's release on July 12. As known to all, the movie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages under the titles Indian 2, Bharateeyudu 2, and Hindustani 2, respectively. ## Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions, the sequel will be released in two parts, with the third part (Indian 3) scheduled to be released in early 2025. In the movie, Senapathy, a freedom fighter turned vigilante who fought against corruption in India, returns from Hong Kong to aid Chitra Varadharajan, who has been exposing corrupt politicians in the country through videos on the internet. ## The film stars Kamal Haasan, reprising his role as Senapathy, with Siddharth, S. J. Mumbai, June 22 - No actor from South India has dominated the North India box office more than Prabhas, arguably the biggest Indian star at the Pan India level. He has been one of the major reasons for popularizing the term, Pan India in the modern era. ## There have been 9 South Indian films to enter the 100 crores net club in Hindi language and 5 of them are headlined by Prabhas. Including Baahubali, the actor has done 6 movies so far and except for Radhe Shyam, all the films emerged as successes in Hindi, making him the only South Indian origin star to do so. ## It all began with maverick director SS Rajamouli's Baahubali - The Beginning back in 2015 when the movie broke the language barrier and left an everlasting mark at the Hindi box office by becoming the first-ever South Indian movie to cross the 100 crores net collection in the dubbed Hindi version. ## Have a look at the performance of Prabhas' films in the Hindi language since Baahubali - ## 1. Baahubali (2015) - The epic action drama was a huge success with 118.50 crores net (150+ crores gross) collection in Hindi while the worldwide collection was 650 crores in all languages. It was the movie which paved the way for arguably the biggest Indian blockbuster of the 21st century, Baahubali 2 The Conclusion. ## 2. Saaho (2019) - After Baahubali films, Prabhas' popularity was at an all-time high and this also led to massive expectations from him to continue delivering at the box office. It came Saaho which was termed non-successful despite grossing over 450 crores worldwide. However, it continued Prabhas' success streak in Hindi in which it scored approximately 146 crores in net collection, making it the third straight movie of the actor to cross the 100 crores mark. ## 4. Radhe Shyam (2022) - After Saaho, the Covid-19 pandemic gripped the world starting in 2020 and the box office dipped to an all-time low not just in India but everywhere. Radhe Shyam was one of the Pan India movies to get released during the pandemic so there weren't many expectations from it at the box office as far as the Hindi version is concerned. It failed miserably by scoring just around 20 crores net in Hindi and was also a major disaster worldwide with just around 150 crores gross. ## 5. Adipurush (2023) - A film which could have challenged Baahubali 2's footfalls in Hindi, but failed miserably due to the poor attempt at the epic Ramayana. It was a box office failure with a worldwide collection of under 400 crores gross but managed to bring Prabhas back into 100 crores net club in Hindi, scoring approximately 148 crores net. ## 6. Salaar Part 1 (2023) - It was the first movie of Prabhas to emerge overall success since Baahubali 2 with a worldwide gross collection of over 600 crores. In Hindi, it crossed the 150 crores net mark and is currently Prabhas' second biggest grosser in the dubbed version with 153 crores net.## The next up for Prabhas is director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic mixed with mythology, Kalki 2898 AD which is scheduled to release on June 27. It has been one of the most anticipated Pan India movies of the year and the excitement is at its peak ahead of the release.
