One of team India's leading pacers Mohammed Shami has had his share of ups and downs in his career in which he went through a life-threatening knee injury and the domestic violence allegations that have not only affected his personal life but he also went into depression and had suicidal thoughts. However, even after all this, he has always been able to bounce back and doing great things for Indian cricket. ## Now, the 29-years old opens up about the importance of mental health awareness, support from his family and teammates, the COVID-19 effect on his village, and bowling with Jasprit Bumrah in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times. ## Excerpts:## How have you coped with absolutely no cricket in the last three months?## Well, I have been staying at my home in Sahaspur village in Amroha the entire time. I have constructed a small academy where I have been training. My younger brother Mohammed Kaif, who is also a fast bowler like me and plays in the Bengal U-23 team, also trains with me. I have taken the fitness schedules from the team physio and doing everything I can to attain fitness standards international cricket demands. I have been lucky that way that I had my own ground to keep myself fit.## You recently mentioned contemplating suicide when you were going through a difficult phase in your domestic life. Can you take us through that phase? How did you deal with it?## Depression is a problem that needs attention. It was unfortunate to see such a brilliant actor like Sushant Singh Rajput lose his life. He was a friend and I wish I could talk to him had I known about his mental condition. In my case, my family pulled me out of that low phase. They took care of me and made me realize that I needed to fight back. There were times I felt suicidal but my family ensured I was never alone. Someone or the other would always be around, talking to me. Spirituality also helps you seek answers. Talking to your close ones or counseling is the best way out.## How difficult is it to deal with mental demons while performing at the top level? How did the team support you during that phase?## Mental pressure definitely interferes with your physical wellbeing. At the same time, if you seek help from others and talk about it, you can get rid of such issues off the field. I was lucky to have the team’s support staff along with Virat Kohli and other players backing me. We are like a family. My teammates always insisted I vent my anger and frustration out on the field. I am happy that phase is over.## Tell us about your village. How has the pandemic affected it?## Around 5000 people live here. And they were struggling to make a living during the lockdown. My family and I tried to help them as much as we could. We have been providing food to the poor. I think that’s the least humanity we can show in these troubled times. My grandfather (Mohammed Anis) and my father (Mohammed Taufeeq) have a legacy in this village. Our family has always served the people.## How has it been bowling alongside Jasprit Bumrah in different formats?## I am lucky to have Bumrah bowling from the other end. His accuracy and pace are just spot on. We talk a lot off the field and on the field too. We understand each other’s strengths and adjust well according to the conditions. Bowling alongside him actually works quite well for me. When the batsmen are trying to negate his pace, I come into the bowl and surprise them with my swing. Bumrah is a tremendous bowler and I learn a lot from him.## Irrespective of the format, you almost always raise your game when needed. How do you do that?## The aim is to keep calm and just focus on bowling a correct line and length. When you do so and not take extra pressure, results come automatically. Test cricket is the most challenging. When you take wickets on the fourth or the fifth day for your team, the feeling is amazing.## India will play a Test series in Australia in December. How are you planning for it?## I don’t plan much for the future. I had a great Test series against Australia back in 2018-19. I enjoy bowling on Australian pitches and putting pressure on the batsmen. We will have to see what kind of pitches are prepared and then plan accordingly.## Stay tuned...

Sushant Singh Rajput claimed his life on Sunday, June 14, and left everyone wondering what was the reason he left us too soon. Now, according to a report in the news daily, the late actor's house staff revealed something shocking. ## The actor's house staff states that Sushant had cleared all their dues just 3 days before he committed suicide. He even told them that he won’t be able to provide work them further due to financial reasons. The report further states that the house staff even told the actor, "Aapne humara humesha dhyaan rakha hai, aap aise mat boliye, hum log kuchh na kuchh kar lenge. (You have always taken care of us. Don't say such things. We will do something).”## One of the actor’s managers also claims that Sushant had cleared his dues just a few days before claiming his life. The Mumbai police are still inquiring about his reason for death as some reports state that the actor was facing financial problems as some of his projects didn’t take off.## The primary reason for Sushant's death said to be depression he was battling for a long time. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has become one of the most trusted actors in the industry who is giving continuous hit movies one after one. This year his three films in the line-up to release are Laxmmi Bomb, Sooryavanshi, and Prithviraj. ## However, Laxmmi Bomb and Sooryavanshi that were already ready to release got postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.## Currently, Akshay Kumar has been working on Atrangi Ray, Prithviraj, and Bell Bottom. And now, according to some reports, the superstar has decided to do one more film with the director, producer Ekta Kapoor. Shahid Kapoor seems to become the first choice of the filmmakers and producers when it comes to the Hindi remake of the South Indian movies. After the blockbuster Kabir Singh that was the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy, Shahid Kapoor is currently working on Jersey which is also a remake of the Telugu movie with the same name that starred Nani in the lead role. ## Now, according to the Mid-Day report, the makers of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya has approached Shahid Kapoor for its Hindi remake to play the lead role. However, Shahid Kapoor is yet to give a nod for its Hindi adaptation. ## Regarding the Hindi remake and Shahid being approached for the role, a source revealed to the tabloid, “The film was always supposed to be made in multiple languages. Shahid enjoyed a mammoth hit in Kabir Singh last year, which was the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. So, he was the first choice of the makers. The actor is currently going through the script. After the leading man is locked, the team will zero in on the principal cast.”## Talking about the original Soorarai Pottru, it is an action-drama film directed by Sudha Kongara while Suriya and Guneet Monga have co-produced the film under the banners 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment. Along with Suriya in the lead role, the film also stars Aparna Balamurali, Jackie Shroff, Urvashi, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Sampath Raj, and Karunas in important roles.## About the Soorarai Pottru's release, the film was originally scheduled to be released on April 9 but got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdown. A day after Dabangg movie director Abhinav Singh Kashyap made serious allegations on Salman Khan and his family for destroying his career, Salman Khan along with family filed a defamation case against the director for defaming them publicly. ## According to a report in news daily, Arbaaz Khan has broken the silence regarding this controversy and said that he had nothing to do with Abhinav Singh Kashyap ever since they started working on Dabangg 2. The had already parted their ways professionally after Dabangg in 2010. Now, the Khan family has hit back to the director and filed a case against for defaming them.## In another report quoted by Filmfare, a source close to Salman Khan said that Abhinav Kashyap has been facing mental issues since the last few years and there is no truth in what he has said on social media. ## The controversy sparked after the 34-year old actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14 at his Mumbai apartment. He was battling depression for a long time. The International Space University (ISU) in France has paid tribute in a statement to the actor Sushant Singh Rajput who was found dead at his Bandra apartment on Sunday (June 14). The statement read that the ISU is deeply saddened by the dramatic news of Sushant's death. ## The official Tweeter handle of ISU tweeted that Sushant Singh Rajput was supposed to visit the central campus last year but couldn't visit due to some other priorities. ## "We are deeply saddened by the dramatic news on the death of well known Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput," ISU tweeted.## "Mr. Singh Rajput was a believer and strong supporter of STEM education and was following ISU on social media.
