Chennai, February 9 - Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi has had a good first weekend at the domestic box office, however, it failed to keep up the momentum after the big opening due to mixed word of mouth and remake factor. ## On its first Sunday (4th day), the movie scored more or less the same as on Saturday as early estimates suggest the collection to be around 15 crores gross, including around 13 crores gross in the home state, Tamil Nadu. The total 4-day weekend collection is around 72+ crores domestically, including 61+ crores in Tamil Nadu, as per estimates. ## The pre-sales of the movie for Monday are pretty average which was expected given the reception from audiences. It needs to be seen how strong the walk-ins will be as the film needs to have a good hold during the weekdays to have long and emerge a success.## Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya's Telugu romantic action drama Thandel has a fantastic and easily the biggest opening weekend for the actor. As per the estimates, the film has scored a decent jump on Sunday, especially in Telugu states which is not a regular case with Telugu titles. ## According to estimates, Thandel is expected to score around 14-15 crores gross collection domestically, including 12-13 crores gross in Telugu states. With this, the total domestic opening weekend of the movie is around 42 crores gross which is superb. ## The word of mouth for the movie is on the positive side which should lead to good hold during the weekdays. Mumbai, February 8 - In recent times, a couple of old Bollywood films had a successful second chance after not getting much in their original runs. Well, the list has another title in the form of romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane. ## Re-released amid almost zero buzz on February 7, the heartbreaking romantic tale stunned the trade with its opening of 4.25+ crores net, more than 3x of the original run opening day collection. The opening was possible due to the film's immense popularity on television. ## On the second day of re-release, Sanam Teri Kasam witnessed a a jump of around 15% to earn approximately 5-5.25 crores net collection which is excellent, pushing the total to around 9.50 crores net. With this, it has outgrossed its lifetime original domestic collection of 9 crores net in just 2 days. ## Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sanam Teri Kasam will eye another jump on Sunday as opening weekend can rise to around 15 crores which is just outstanding. It was a disaster in its first attempt 9 years ago in 2016 but has managed to change its fortune with a repeat run. ## Legendary Christopher Nolan's epic sci-fi adventure Interstellar is heading for a very good opening weekend in India upon its re-release. The film scored an opening of around 2.40 crores net and on its second day, it scored a jump of around 40% for approximately 3.25 crores net. ## In the first 2 days of re-release, Interstellar has scored approximately 5.65 crores net in India with opening weekend expected to be around 9 crores which is fantastic. Hyderabad, February 8 - Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi's romantic action drama Thandel is proving to be a success story at the box office. The movie is creating a stir and living up to the pre-release hype with an excellent collection all over. ## Thandel delivered the career-best opening for Naga Chaitanya and on its second day, the movie has an excellent hold with a drop of just around 10% which is normal for a Telugu title. According to early estimates, the Chandoo Modenti's directorial earns in the range of 12-13 crores gross on Saturday. ## The fantastic second-day hold pushes the total collection of Thandel to 25+ crores gross domestically and the 3-day opening weekend can rise to 37-38+ crores gross which is a fantastic collection. The word of mouth is okay and the film is likely to do well during the weekdays which remains to be seen. ## Meanwhile, Himesh Reshmiyan's action comedy Badass Ravikumar is witnessing a drop on the second day after a good first-day collection of over 2.50 crores net. There were limited expectations for the movie to do well at the box office but the promos did generate some curiosity among the audience. ## The opening of the film was better than expected but the mixed word-of-mouth seems to be not helping its cause as early estimates suggest the collection to be in the range of 1.75-2 crores net on its second day, dropping around 30%. ## The first 2 days box office collection of the film is respectable considering the expectations from it but it needs to hold well in the coming days to score a decent lifetime total. ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, February 8 - Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi saw a harsh drop of over 60% on its second day at the domestic box office but there was an upward trend on Saturday, a third day which was expected. However, the big jump is still missing. ## In the home state, Tamil Nadu, the movie managed to score a double-digit collection on Friday and according to early estimates, it is expected to gross 10.50-11.50 crores on Saturday with around a 10% jump in the state. This takes the movie's total collection to around 46 crores in the state. ## Apart from Tamil Nadu, Vidaamuyarchi is doing okay in the rest of the domestic market as there wasn't any drop in collection today. Overall, the film is expected to gross 13-14 crores domestically on its third day, pushing the total collection to around 57+ crores gross in 3 days. ## Vidaamuyarchi has one more day to score before entering the make-or-break weekdays. Mumbai, February 8 - The mega blockbuster Chinese animated sequel Ne Zha 2 has done the unthinkable and entered uncharted box office territory by becoming the first film ever to score a $1 billion gross collection at the China box office. ## The direct sequel to the 2019 film Ne Zha, Ne Zha 2's running gross collection is $989+ million (RMB 7.2 billion) as of 9 PM local China time on its 11th day (Saturday). The film is likely to enter the $1 billion club at the end of the day and by the first hour of its 12th day, second Sunday. ## Before unlocking the billion club at the China box office, Ne Zha 2 scripted history on Saturday by becoming the highest-grossing movie ever in a single market, beating the Hollywood blockbuster 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens which grossed $936.7 million in North America. ## Ne Zha 2 has been running riot since its opening during the Chinese New Year weekend on January 29. Kochi, February 8 - Malayalam megastar Mammootty's highly-awaited action thriller film Bazooka has officially been postponed from Valentine's Day release. The film is directed by Deeno Dennis in his directorial debut and produced by Yoodlee Films and Theatre of Dreams.## Bazooka was supposed to hit the big screen on February 14 but due to some reasons, best known to the makers, it has been pushed back to April 10, during the Vishu festival weekend. Hyderabad, February 7 - Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi's romantic action thriller Thandel has taken a fantastic start at the domestic box office, justifying the pre-release hype for the movie, directed by Chandoo Mondeti. ## The film is looking to score the career-best opening for Naga Chaitanya as early estimates suggest the collection to be in the range of 11-12 crores gross. The previous biggest grosser for the actor was Love Story which minted around 10.50 crores gross on its first day. ## The initial word of mouth for Thandel looks on the positive side and the pre-sales for the remaining weekend are good. It is looking to score 30+ crores gross collection in its opening weekend which will be a good collection.## There was Himesh Reshmiya's comedy action drama which opened to better-than-expected numbers as early estimates suggest 2.50-3 crores net opening day. Chennai, February 7 - After the good opening day, superstar Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi is seeing a big drop on its second day at the domestic box office, which was somewhat expected due to the mixed word of mouth. ## Vidaamuyarchi took the second biggest opening for the actor in Tamil Nadu with approximately 25 crores gross, however, the movie is seeing a drop of around 60% on Friday as early estimates suggest the collection to be in the range of 8-10 crores gross in the state. ## The drop is universal as the rest of the states have a similar kind of response as the overall second day of the movie is expected to gross 10-12 crores, dropping over 60% from the opening day of 31.75 crores gross. South Indian movies tend to drop after the first day, but here, the drop is higher than expected which is concerning. ## Word of mouth is not in favour of the film so the onus will be on the stardom of Ajith Kumar to finish to opening weekend on high good collection on Saturday and Sunday with decent pre-sales.
