Los Angeles, October 27 - Sony Pictures' Marvel movie Venom: The Last Dance debuted with a strong $175 million in its opening weekend at the worldwide box office, thanks to the international markets where the movie overperformed. ## The Tom Hardy-starrer superhero movie, however, has had a lower-than-expected opening at the domestic (North America) box office, grossing $51 million in its 3-day opening weekend. This is the lowest opening in the Venom franchise and the lowest ever for a comic book trilogy. ## In the Venom franchise, the film is nowhere close to the opening of the first two movies. The 2018 Venom scored $80 million on opening weekend, followed by Venom: Let There Be Carnage which opened to a then-pandemic record $90 million in North America. ## Overseas, Venom 3 performed fantastically and grossed $124 million over the 5-day opening weekend from 64 markets. This is way more than Venom: Let There Be Carnage ($62.3 million) and just behind Venom which scored $125.2 million internationally in its opening weekend. ## China was the biggest overseas market of Venom 3 with $46 million, followed by Mexico ($7.3 million), South Korea ($5.8 million), the UK ($5.7 million) and India ($4.6 million / 39 crores gross). Hyderabad, October 27 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan-fronted Game Changer, directed by S. Shankar, is one of the most-anticipated Indian movies and is the first for the actor since SS Rajamouli's directorial mega-blockbuster RRR in March 2022. ## Game Changer has been in production since late 2021 and after multiple postponements, the movie was finally confirmed to hit the big screens on January 10, 2025, during the Sankranthi festival in multiple languages. It is produced by Dil Raju under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. ## Meanwhile, according to the latest Telugu media reports, the much-awaited teaser of Game Changer will be released on October 31/November 1 and the announcement for the same is expected to be made on October 27. Reports also suggest that the trailer of the film is likely to be released in December last week. ## Game Changer is a political action drama film in which an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer strives to combat corrupt politicians by advocating for fair elections to transform the way government works. Mumbai, October 27 - The Dussehra weekend Bollywood releases, Alia Bhatt's Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video have underperformed at the box office, particularly the former which has credible names attached to it. ## It has been a struggling ride for the action thriller Jigra which has barely managed to go past 50 crores at the worldwide box office. Domestically, the movie is a big flop, grossing approximately 36.50 crores (30.35 crores net) in 16 days so far. ## At the overseas box office, Jigra has managed to mint an estimated 18 crores, for a worldwide cume of around 54.50 crores gross collection. This is Alia Bhatt's lowest-grossing film worldwide since Highway which minted approximately 52.50 crores gross in 2012. ## The comedy-drama Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has performed decently so far. In India, it has performed much better than Jigra and has grossed approximately 46+ crores collection (39 crores net) in 16 days while overseas collection is an estimated 8.50 crores gross for the worldwide cume to 54.50 crores. ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, October 26 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Vettaiyan, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, has entered the 100 crores gross club at the Tamil Nadu box office, becoming the second movie of 2024 to achieve the feat after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, Vettaiyan entered the 100 crore club in the state on its 17th day, third Saturday. It is the second back-to-back film of Rajinikanth (excluding Lal Salaam in which Rajinikanth played an extended appearance), after mega-blockbuster Jailer last year. ## However, despite crossing 100 crores gross collection in the home state, Vettaiyna has underperformed at the box office, not meeting the pre-release expectations. It has been a struggle for the movie so far with around 250 crores gross worldwide. ## In 16 days so far, the movie has minted approximately 166 crores in India and 80 crores overseas for approximately 246 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office. Chennai, October 26 - Legendary duo of Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam joined forces 36 years after Nayakan for the action drama film Thug Life. It is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies and has been one of the most-anticipated Tamil movies in the making. ## The principal photography of Thug Life has been completed and the movie is currently in the post-production stage. Meanwhile, the film's release date has reportedly been revealed and a possible box office face-off is looming large. ## According to the latest Tamil media reports, Thug Life will be released on April 10, 2025, in multiple languages. This would mean a direct clash with Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted horror-comedy The Raja Saab which is already scheduled to hit the big screen on the same day. ## Subject to the official announcement, Thug Life will be released during the Tamil New Year, an ideal date for Tamil movies to cash in at the box office. Mumbai, October 26 - Ajay Devgn's psychological thriller Naam with director Anees Bazmee finally has a release date. It was one of the films which was put on the backburner despite completing the shoot due to some reasons. ## According to reports, Naam went on floors around 2004 and took a year or two to be finished. It was supposed to be released in 2006 but the release was halted. Now, the makers have announced that the film will be released in cinemas on November 22. ## Produced by Anil Roongta of Roongta Entertainment in association with Snigdhaa Movies P Ltd, Naam is a psychological thriller in which a person loses his memory and embarks on a journey to find his identity. Los Angeles, October 26 - Tom Holland officially returns to play Spider-Man as Sony Pictures has set Spider-Man 4 release date in July 2026. Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton will direct this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. ## Recently, Holland said that the filming for Spider-Man 4 will commence in the summer of 2025 and now, Sony has confirmed that it would be released on July 24, 2026, two months after Marvel and Disney's Avengers: Doomsday which comes out on May 1, 2026.## Interestingly, Christopher Nolan's untitled next movie will reportedly be released on July 17, 2026, and it stars Tom Holland in the lead role with Matt Damon. This means Holland will have two back-to-back releases just a week apart. ## This is also not the first time a Spider-Man movie is releasing shortly after the Avengers film. Previously, Tom Holland-led Spider-Man: Far From Home was released just two months after Avengers: Endgame and it went on to gross over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. ## The yet untitled Spider-Man 4 is the 4th Spidey movie featuring Holland in the titular role. Mumbai, October 25 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan reunited after 14 years for a horror-comedy titled Bhooth Bangal. The film was officially announced in September this year with Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms and Akshay's Cape of Good Films producing it. ## Later, it was reported that the Bhool Bhulaiyaa trio of Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani would also feature in this much-anticipated film. Now, according to the report by Pinkvilla, the makers have roped in Wamiqa Gabbi as one of three female leads. ## "Wamiqa has impressed everyone with her work in the digital world and is now all set to make it big on the theatrical medium with films like Baby John, followed by Bhooth Bangla", says the report. ## Apart from Wamiqa Gabbi, the movie will feature two more actresses and the casting for the same is underway. Mumbai, October 25 - Sony Pictures' superhero movie Venom: The Last Dance has taken a good start at the Indian box office. The movie was released a day earlier than the North American debut on Wednesday. ## The film, despite the shows starting post-afternoon, beat the first two Venom movies' openings to score one of the biggest starts for Sony Pictures' Spider-Man Universe. It scored approximately 5.60 crores gross ($665K) on all versions on its first day. ## This is the best start for a Venom movie in India, beating the opening of the first Venom which minted approximately 5.25 crores gross collection in 2018. The second film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released during the Covid-19 pandemic and minted approximately 3.50+ crores gross opening. ## The initial word of mouth for Venom 3 seems to be mixed which has been the case with the previous films in the franchise as well.
