Mumbai, July 22 - Director Rohit Shetty, on the 13th anniversary of Singham, has completed the shooting of Singham Again with Ajay Devgn who plays the titular role. Interestingly, it is also Shetty's 13th film with Ajay as the director. ## To celebrate the wrap of Singham Again with the actor, Rohit Shetty shared a reel on its Instagram account to shed light on his journey, which started back in the 90s with Ajay Devgn. Mumbai, July 22 - After recently becoming the first animated film franchise to reach $5 billion globally, the sixth overall instalment in the Despicable Me franchise, Despicable Me 4 has surpassed $500 million at the worldwide box office and is heading towards the magical milestone of $1 billion. ## The sequel to Despicable Me 3 (2017), and the fourth main instalment, Despicable Me 4 grossed $75 million worldwide in its 5th weekend which soared its global cume to $574.4 million (4805 crores). This includes $259.5 million (2170 crores) in North America and $314.90 million (2635 crores) overseas. ## Despicable Me 4 has now overtaken the first Despicable Me’s lifetime global haul of $544 million, to become the franchise's fifth-biggest instalment. The latest blockbuster is now being projected to enter the magical box office club of $1 billion globally, and if it gets there, it will be the third film in the franchise, after Minions ($1.1 billion), and Despicable Me 3 ($1 billion) to achieve the feat.## In 2024, only Inside Out 2, another animated blockbuster by Pixar, has crossed the $1 billion mark as it is on the line to become the all-time biggest animated grosser by crossing Frozen II ($1.45 billion). Mumbai, July 21 - Dharma Productions' comedy drama Bad Newz has a good first weekend at the domestic box office with close to 30 crores net mark after a jump of 5%-10% on Sunday.## According to the early estimates, the film scored in the range of 10.75-11.25 crores net collection on its third day/first Sunday, pushing the total collection to around 29.50 crores in 3 days. It is the fifth biggest opening weekend for a Bollywood title of 2024.## The jump on Sunday is pretty flat or limited which is often the case with multiplex movies, plus there is a strong holdover in Kalki 2898 AD which is ruling mass centres as well as multiplex. Bad Newz needs to hold well on its first Monday which is crucial for the sake of its long legs at the box office.## Overall, the opening weekend total of around 30 crores net is respected but the real game for the movie begins on Monday which will determine where it will go. Hyderabad, July 21 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan's political action thriller Game Changer with director S. Shankar has finally locked its release date after being in production for nearly 3 years. It is the actor's first film since the epic blockbuster RRR in March 2022.## Producer Dil Raju, during the Telugu pre-release event of Dhanush's Raayan, delighted the fans by announcing the Game Changer will be hitting the big screen on Christmas 2024, however, the exact date is not yet revealed.## The Christmas 2024 weekend already has a couple of big movies in the lineup in the form of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's Sitare Zameen Par and Hollywood biggie, Mufasa: The Lion King along with Varun Dhawan's Baby John and Nithiin's Robinhood. ## Game Changer has been in production since October 2021 but due to director Shankar's other commitments, the shoot of the movie was delayed on many occasions before it finally concluded in July this year. Hyderabad, July 21 - 7 years after scripting box office history with Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion, Pan India superstar Prabhas has done it again as his Kalki 2898 AD has become the 7th Indian movie and the second for the actor to enter the 1000 crores club at the worldwide box office. ## The sci-fi epic, directed by Nag Ashwin, has done what it was expected to achieve before its release on June 27. It took just 25 days for Kalki to breach the milestone of 1000 crores worldwide gross, making it the 3rd Telugu-origin title and 4th South Indian film to do so. ## Kalki 2898 AD scored an estimated 990 crores gross globally in the first 24 days and on its 4th Sunday (25th day), the movie added another estimated 12 crores gross, taking its worldwide cume to over the magical figure of the thousand crores gross. ## Including the 5th Sunday collection, the epic blockbuster has minted an estimated 733 crores gross in India and 270 crores overseas. Mumbai, July 21 - Director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has become the third highest-grossing South Indian movie at the Hindi box office after beating SS Rajamouli's action drama RRR on its 25th day. ## The Prabhas-fronted blockbuster scored approximately 4.85 crores net collection on its 4th Sunday which took its total cume to approximately 276 crores net in 25 days to become the third biggest South Indian movie in the dubbed version.## SS Rajamouli and Prabhas' Baahubali 2 remains the top South Indian grosser in Hindi with approximately 511 crores net, followed by Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 with 435 crores approx. Mumbai, July 21 - The hugely-anticipated comedy entertainer Son of Sardaar 2, starring Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, has commenced filming on July 20 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The movie is being directed by Punjabi filmmaker Vijay Kumar Arora and produced by Ajay Devgn in association with Jio Studios.## It was recently reported that actress Mrunal Thakur would be playing the female lead, replacing Sonakshi Sinha from the original movie. Sanjay Dutt also joins the returning cast from the first movie with Pankaj Tripathi and Kubbra Sait reportedly joining the cast as new members. ## SOS2 is the sequel to 2012's Son of Sardaar which itself was a remake of the 2010 Telugu film Maryada Ramanna, directed by SS Rajamouli. Mumbai, July 20 - After taking the career-best start for Vicky Kaushal with 8.30 crores net, comedy-drama Bad Newz is seeing a jump of around 20% on its second day with collection around to the double-digit score. ## On its first Saturday, the Anand Tiwari's directorial venture scored an estimated 9.75-10.25 crores net collection, taking the total to around 18+ crores in two days. The 3-day opening weekend is expected to be around 30 crores net which is a fantastic result for the movie. ## The film's biz is being driven by Delhi NCR while other areas are performing decently. Bad Newz is more of an urban so the mass centres are on the lower side which is expected. The opening weekend is looking in a much better position than 2-3 weeks back but it will eventually come down to Monday to see where the movie will go. ## The word of mouth for the film is on the positive side so one can expect Bad Newz to hold well on Monday and going forward. Los Angeles, July 20 - Universal Pictures' Twisters, starring Glen Powell, is set to overcome the industry projection to score the record opening for a natural disaster film at the domestic (North American) box office. ## The movie, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, scored an estimated $80.50 million (675 crores) in the opening weekend, the third biggest of the year. With this, it has become the top opening domestically for a natural disaster film, beating the 2004 movie The Day After Tomorrow's $66.70 million (not adjusted for inflation). ## Twisters was projected to take the domestic opening of around $50 million. It is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister which bowed to $41 million 3-day domestic opening weekend. The sequel has scored almost 2X the opening of its predecessor. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twisters is playing evenly among females and males, as well as appealing to both younger and older adults in what could lead to a new franchise.
