Mumbai, July 18 - The Hindi box office may have another surprise winner this weekend in Dharma Productions' comedy drama Bad Newz, starring Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri, and Ammy Virk in the leading roles. The movie is directed by Anand Tiwari and co-produced by Leo Media Collective. ## The film's advance booking opened a couple of days ago and unlike its title, the booking trend has been good news for the industry and the makers in particular. In comparison to previous movies, the pre-sales of Bad Newz are much better than most of them and it even topped Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon's Crew after the superb jump in the last hours. ## Crew although opened to 9.25 crores net is still one of the biggest openers of the year and Bad Newz will look to come close to these numbers. Depending on how the spot booking fares, Bad Newz, which is expected to be released on over 2000 screens, should open in the range of 9 crores (+/-) net collection while a double-digit start also can not be ruled out (optimistic). ## As can be guessed in the pre-sales, the buzz for Bad Newz has been good thanks to the trailer which was well received and the songs which have set the tone. Mumbai, July 18 - Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios has unveiled the highly-anticipated trailer of horror-comedy Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Banerjee. ## Directed by Amar Kaushik, the Stree 2 trailer shows the gang of Chanderi reuniting to fight "Sarkata", a ghost who is causing havoc in Chanderi. When everything seems out of hand, Shraddha Kapoor who has now the powers of Stree, returns to save people. ## The trailer promises laughs, thrills, and unlimited entertainment along with a lot of twists and turns. As known to everyone, Stree 2 is the 5th movie in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe and will have a cameo of Varun Dhawan as Bhediya. ## The movie is produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios. Hyderabad, July 18 - Actor Vishnu Manchu's mega-budgeted fantasy film Kannappa also featuring multiple cameos of superstars, has announced a December 2024 release in multiple languages, amid the rumours of the postponement of superstar Allu Arjun's highly-awaited Pushpa 2 - The Rule.## There are rumours that Pushpa 2 - The Rule, which is scheduled to be released on December 6 this year, might get postponed due to the pending shot because of a rumoured rift between Allu Arjun and director Sukumar. However, some reliable portals have reported that the movie is well on track for a December 6 release as Sukumar has reportedly started editing the first half of the movie before resuming the last leg of the shoot in August. ## Though the postponement of the Pushpa 2 release looks unlikely, Vishnu Manchu has locked the December 2024 release (date not revealed yet), after might be sensing a crack in the Allu Arjun-fronted tentpole. Hyderabad, July 18 - Vyjayanthi Movies' epic sci-fi blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD is marching towards 1000 crores club at the worldwide box office and before reaching the milestone, it has created a new milestone of selling the highest number of tickets on Book My Show. ## The Prabhas-fronted tentpole has so far sold around 12.50 million (1.25 crores) tickets for all days, which is the highest for any movie since the platform started updating hourly trends on its app. It has beaten Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan which sold approximately 1.24 crores of tickets on BMS. ## Including Book My Show sold tickets, Nag Ashwin's directorial movie has sold an estimated 3.30 crores (33 million) tickets in 21 days so far. It has grossed an estimated 708 crores (596 crores net) at the domestic box office so far and is heading towards finishing around 750 crores gross final. ## Kalki 2898 AD is the fifth highest-grossing film in India and the 7th highest-grossing Indian title at the worldwide box office with 970+ crores gross so far. Mumbai, July 18 - Director Nag Ashwin's dystopian future sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has taken the box office by storm to become one of the biggest blockbusters. The movie starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani is nearing 1000 crores worldwide gross which will make it only the 7th Indian movie ever to do so. ## Recently, Prabhas thanked his fans for making Kalki 2898 AD a massive box office success and also expressed gratitude towards his co-stars in the movie. As the movie is still running well in theatres, legendary Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan have shared their joy at the film's success and expressed gratitude for being a part of it. ## "For Prabhas, this may be something of a routine because a lot of his films (Baahubali 2) cross this Rs 1000 crore figure, but for me, I am truly indebted and very grateful to have been made a part of this huge concept called Kalki. Mumbai, July 18 - In a massive but pleasant surprise, Joe and Anthony Russo, famously known as the Russo brothers, are in talks to return to the MCU to helm the next two Avengers movies, according to the report by The Hollywood Reporter.## It is to be noted that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was originally set to direct Avengers 5 but he backed out last year after the movie faced major hurdles due to the controversy surrounding actor Jonathan Majors who was to play the centre role as the main villain, Kang.## Marvel Studios has been searching for directors to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies for a long time. The studio had earlier reportedly reached out to Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy for the fifth Avengers movie, but he had turned the offer down in the past. ## The talks with the Russo Brothers are in the early stages and if they agree, it will mark a homecoming for the director duo who once was the biggest IP of Marvel. They have directed four of Marvel's biggest movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), followed by Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). ## The four Marvel movies directed by Russos generated a combined gross of $6.68+ billion, including Endgame ($2.79 billion) as the second highest-grossing movie ever at the worldwide box office behind only James Cameron's Avatar with $2.92 billion. ## Meanwhile, the fifth Avengers movie, scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026, was originally titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty and was to star Jonathan Majors as time-traveling villain Kang. Chennai, July 17 - Actor Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited biographical war action film Amaran, based on the book series, India's Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, has been confirmed to hit the big screens on October 31, 2024, in multiple Indian languages.## Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is the biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan (played by Sivakarthikeyan), a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment. Mumbai, July 17 - Superstar Salman Khan-fronted comedy-drama Bajrangi Bhaijaan remains a milestone in his illustrious career and a defining work for director Kabir Khan. The film is widely hailed as one of Salman's finest performances to date, with many critics and fans considering it the emotional peak of his acting journey. ## Released on 17 July 2015, just before Eid, Bajrangi Bhaijaan opened to a thunderous response across the country. Mumbai, July 17 - Disney's Pixar blockbuster Inside Out 2 has become the second highest-grossing animated movie of all time at the worldwide box office after topping Universal Pictures' 2023 mega-blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie on its 5th Tuesday. ## The coming-of-age, Inside Out 2 has crossed $1.36 billion (11365+ crores) to beat The Super Mario Bros. Movie's $1.36 billion and is now behind only Frozen 2 ($1.45 billion) which is projected to be outgrossed by next week for IO2 to become the highest-grossing animated title ever.## Directed by Kelsey Mann, IO2 has so far grossed $575+ million in North America and $785+ million overseas over 47 markets. Chennai, July 17 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has had a strong debut on Netflix after the excellent box office performance which saw it becoming the first Tamil movie of 2024 to top 100 crores gross worldwide. ## The film, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, started streaming on Netflix on July 12, four weeks after its theatrical release on June 14. In its opening weekend (July 12 - July 14), Maharaja scored a strong 3.2 million views and was the 4th most-watched non-English movie on Netflix during the same week.## Maharaja had one of the biggest opening weekends for an Indian movie of 2024 on the streamer, beating the likes of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2.9 million views) and Laapataa Ladies (2.2 million views), and on par with Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan (3.2 million views), among others.## The movie has been trending in the top 10 in 14 countries, including number 1 in India, Sri Lanka, and United Arab Emirates.
