Chennai, May 23 - Thalapathy Vijay's science fiction action drama The Greatest of All Time post-theatrical digital rights reportedly sold to Netflix for a massive sum of 110 crores, according to a report by Only Kollywood. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The GOAT is easily one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year and it is expected to set the box office on fire. Thalapathy Vijay's films have also attracted massive viewership on digital platforms and GOAT is expected to repeat the same despite non-direct OTT release. ## Netflix has been the home of many South Indian films after their theatrical releases and has paid huge prices for the same. Mumbai, May 23 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor-fronted epic Ramayana, co-starring Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol, is the biggest Indian film in the making. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie hasn't been officially announced yet but has been the talk of the town for various reasons. ## Recently, social media was buzzing with rumours that the production of Ramayana has been stalled due to a legal copyright infringement issue. This is not the first time that the project has been hit by negativity but this has been happening more frequently for the last few weeks. ## While it is true that the movie is having legal issues, the rumours of halting the production are baseless as according to Bollywood Hungama, one of the actors from the movie said that the shooting was not halted for even a day and the team is shooting as he spoke.## Meanwhile, recently, it was reported that Ramayana would now be a two-part project with simultaneous shooting for more than 350 days till December 2025. Kochi, May 22 - In the scorching heat across the country, the Malayalam film industry is breathing fire at the box office and creating new records with each passing day and the momentum is set to continue with megastar Mammootty's action comedy Turbo. ## Directed by Vysakh, Turbo, an outright mass entertainer, is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 23 and it will be looking to marry with the box office. Mammootty already scored success this year in the form of the horror thriller, Bramayugam, and Turbo is anticipated to be even bigger.## Turbo is witnessing excellent pre-sales and is already one of the highest for a Malayalam title since the COVID-19 pandemic. With few hours left for the release, the advance sales of Turbo are approaching 3 crore gross, a target which only two Malayalam films have breached in 2024 in the form of Malaikottai Vaaliban and Aadujeevitham. ## The pre-sales trend of Turbo suggests the opening of 6+ crore gross which will make it one of the biggest starts of the year. Mumbai, May 22 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has become the second most-watched Indian movie of 2024 on Netflix and is likely to become the most-watched by the next week by crossing Hrithik Roshan's Fighter which is currently the most-watched title. ## Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies scored 2.6 million views during the week of May 13 - May 19 on Netflix and pushed its total viewership to 13.8 million in 24 days. It was the 5th most-watched non-English film worldwide during the same week. ## The comedy-drama crossed the viewership of Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal which scored 13.6 million views on Netflix. It is expected to remain in the top 10 in the next week as well and if this happens, it will be the most-watched Indian title of 2024 on the streamer. ## Ajay Devgn-fronted Shaitaan will also be looking to become the most-watched Indian film by next week. The movie garnered 3.2 million views during the week of May 13 - May 19 and was the 4th most watched non-English title worldwide on Netflix. ## The total viewership of Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, has reached 13 million views in 17 days. Los Angeles, May 22 - Marvel Studios set to make a roaring comeback with Ryan Raynolds and Hugh Jackman's highly-anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine as pre-sales of the movie off to a flying start at the domestic (North America) box office. ## According to the ticketing portal Fandango, Deadpool & Wolverine has broken the record for day-one ticket sales for a 2024 movie. It also witnessed the best first-day pre-seller from the Deadpool franchise. While the official data are not revealed, The Hollywood Reporter reports that "Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already which is around $8 million - $9 million.## Shawn Lavy's directorial film has outperformed all other 2024 blockbusters thus far, including the likes of Dune: Part Two, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, The Fall Guy, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Deadpool 3 will seriously be looking to breach the billion-dollar mark, as expected by the trade. ## Deadpool 3 is intended to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). Mumbai, May 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures' much-anticipated post-apocalyptic action adventure film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is hitting theatres on May 23 and it will be looking to bring in some joy at the box office, not just domestically but also worldwide. ## The Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth-starrer is both a reboot of the Mad Max franchise and a prequel. According to Deadline, Furiosa is tracking to earn $80 million - $85 million in its worldwide opening weekend, starting on Wednesday (May 22). ## As reported previously is projected to earn $40+ million in its 4-day domestic (North America) opening weekend while overseas, it is tracking $40 million - $45 million. The movie is carrying a budget of $160 million and is certified fresh at Rotten Tomatoes with an 85% critics' score. ## Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), starring Charlize Theron, opened at $45.4 million domestically so the projection of Furiosa is very much on the lines of the original movie. ## In India, Furiosa is expected to have a much better outcome than the original movie which grossed approximately 15 crores in its lifetime run. Kochi, May 21 - Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran has his second blockbuster within two months as his latest comedy-drama Guruvayoorambala Nadayil, co-starring Basil Joseph, has topped 50 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office within a week. ## Directed by Vipin Das, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil crossed 50 crores worldwide gross on its 6th day, becoming the 7th Malayalam movie of 2024 to achieve the feat. The domestic and overseas collection of the movie after 5 days stands at 25.45 crores and 24 crores, respectively for approximately 49.50 crores worldwide total. ## Guruvayoorambala Nadayil scored 4.25 crore gross in India on the opening day upon its release on Thursday and showed a very good jump over the weekend to put up 21.75 crore India gross 4-day opening weekend. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the movie stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh, and S. Sathyaraj in key roles. ## The teaser of Munjya is interesting as it features a peculiar creature, an all-new CGI actor who appears to have a special fondness for Malaika Arora's 2011 hit track Munni Badnam Hui in Dabangg. The movie promises another unique experience in the horror-comedy universe which has set the bar high with each film. ## The one-minute-23-second-long teaser begins in a dense forest and offers a glimpse into the world of Munjya, leaving audiences curious about the titular creature's relentless search for a mysterious Munni as he climbs one tree to another. He then enters a house where someone is watching Malaika Arora's Munni Badnam Hui music video on television. ## The makers called the film, the perfect blend of comedy and horror to beat the summer heat for Gen Z, kids, and the whole family.
