Zilla Fatu, the son of the late WWE Hall of Famer Umaga, made his long-teased WWE debut on Tuesday night's episode of NXT, crashing the main event and taking out both Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana in a chaotic, unannounced arrival. The August 11 episode of NXT closed with Waller and Montana battling to determine the next No. 1 contender for Tony D'Angelo's NXT Championship, with the Premium Live Event NXT Heatwave (August 30, Bert Ogden Arena, Edinburg, Texas) fast approaching. Montana appeared to have the match won after connecting with his "Spin the Block" clothesline — but before he could make the cover, Fatu barreled into the ring Fatu flattened both Waller and Montana with back-to-back Samoan Splashes, turning what looked like a clean finish into a no-contest and leaving the No. 1 contender's spot undecided. Who Is Zilla Fatu? Fatu, 26, is the son of Umaga, the fearsome two-time Intercontinental Champion who passed away in December 2009 at age 36. That makes him part of the extended Anoa'i wrestling dynasty — the same bloodline that produced Roman Reigns, Jimmy and Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa, and current Bloodline member Jacob Fatu, to whom Zilla is a first cousin. Before signing with WWE, Zilla built his name on the independent scene: He made his professional wrestling debut in 2023 while competing extensively for House of Glory (HOG), where he held the Crown Jewel Championship until dropping it just before his WWE arrival. Also Wrestled for Booker T's Reality of Wrestling (ROW), capturing the ROW World Heavyweight Championship twice. In a December 2025 four-way title match at ROW, he was ambushed by a hooded attacker who was later unmasked as NXT's Ricky Saints — a real-life angle Fatu has referenced as unfinished business heading into WWE.

Monday, August 10, 2026, airing live at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix Raw emanated from Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia and aired starting at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix. It was a big night for the Bloodline saga, as Jey Uso defeated Solo Sikoa in a high-stakes Bloodline matchup, IYO SKY teamed with Sol Ruca for a victory over Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, and Penta advanced in the World Heavyweight Title No. 1 Contender's Tournament with a win over Laredo Kid. Elsewhere, Austin Theory dominated Akira Tozawa, Dragon Lee upset Dominik Mysterio, Big Cass continued his rampage, and Stephanie Vaquer and Becky Lynch both returned to set their sights on Women's World Champion Liv Morgan. Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa face-to-face (Bloodline Stipulation) The show opened with Solo Sikoa mocking The Usos, taunting that he was standing right there in Norfolk. That brought out Jey Uso's music, and Jey made his way to the ring, asking Sikoa if he really wanted to do this and telling him he needed Sikoa to fall in line with The Bloodline. Sikoa fired back, asking Jey how "falling in line" had worked out for him, pointing out that Jey looked like he'd fallen off instead — despite being a former World Heavyweight Champion, a former Men's Royal Rumble winner, and the man who beat GUNTHER at WrestleMania. Sikoa flatly refused to come back to the family, telling Jey that everyone in Virginia loved where he was at right now. Jey told Sikoa to be quiet, reminding him who he was talking to and reminding him that it was Jey and Jimmy Uso who raised and fed him — everything Sikoa had, he had because of them. Jey then challenged Sikoa to a match and fired off a warning shot. Sikoa ducked it, turned to check on the fans behind him, then accepted the challenge — telling Jey that once he beat him, The Bloodline could leave him alone for good, and fired back his own warning shot at Jey. World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender's Tournament: Penta def. Laredo Kid This one kicked off the bracket that will determine who challenges Roman Reigns for the title on the Sept. 14 edition of Raw. Laredo Kid pushed the former Intercontinental Champion throughout the match, but a missed aerial attack allowed Penta to deliver a crushing Mexican Destroyer for the victory. With the win, Penta advances to the semifinals, where he'll await the winner of the bout between Psycho Clown and La Parka. Analysts going in considered Penta the favorite to eventually win the whole tournament and challenge Reigns at AAA Triplemanía in Mexico City. It's a strong start for Penta as WWE leans into the AAA crossover storyline. Austin Theory def. Akira Tozawa Tozawa was looking for payback after The Vision's vicious beatdown of Otis a few weeks earlier, hoping to get some measure of revenge against Austin Theory. Instead, Theory closed the match out with an Off Switch that nearly sent Tozawa's teeth flying. Immediately after, as The Vision prepared to pile on for a post-match beatdown, Oba Femi rushed the ring to stop it and once again squared off face-to-face with Bron Breakker before officials separated them. This continues the simmering issue between Femi and Breakker, hinting at a future confrontation. Becky Lynch & Stephanie Vaquer Confrontation / Liv Morgan Segment Both returning stars made their presence felt as Stephanie Vaquer came to the ring, told the fans she'd missed them, and said what she'd missed most was striking fear into Liv Morgan while railing against The Judgment Day, only for Becky Lynch to interrupt with a stare-down. The tension between the two carried into the night's chaos when The Man and La Primera both attempted to take out Women's World Champion Liv Morgan, but ended up getting in each other's way, allowing Morgan to escape. This sets up a fascinating three-way dynamic between Lynch, Vaquer, and Morgan heading toward the title picture. It's clear both former champions want a shot at Morgan's title, but their rivalry with each other may complicate that pursuit. Dragon Lee def. Dominik Mysterio Dominik came in with a chip on his shoulder after being excluded from the World Heavyweight No. 1 Contender's Tournament, looking to take his frustrations out on Dragon Lee. It was Lee, though, who brought the intensity, as both luchadors battled in the air before the match was ultimately decided on the ground with an Operation Dragon, extending Mysterio's losing skid. The post-match was where things got ugly, as Big Cass continued his rampage on Raw by assaulting both Dragon Lee and Je'Von Evans. Evans had rushed out to try to save Lee from Cass but paid a steep physical price for it. Sol Ruca & IYO SKY def. Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez The mystery-partner storyline for Sol Ruca was resolved when IYO SKY emerged as her partner, immediately shaking the confidence of The Judgment Day. Rodriguez and Perez dominated the early part of the match, but SKY and Ruca eventually took control through high-flying offense. The finish saw Ruca drop jaws with an impressive Pop Rox reversal into a superkick that set up the match-ending Sol Snatcher. Notably, Danhausen had also offered to team with Ruca against The Judgment Day earlier in the show, adding a comedic subplot to the build. Jey Uso def. Solo Sikoa Later in the night, "Main Event" Jey Uso officially promised to beat Solo Sikoa and deliver him to World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns — following through on the stipulation set earlier. When the match itself got going, Sikoa came out firing, "backing it up" Rikishi style in an homage to their father, taking the wind out of Jey early. But just as it looked like Sikoa might find his way out of the trap, Jimmy Uso crashed the match and set up Jey for a Spear and Uso Splash combination that sealed Sikoa's fate. With the win, Jey makes good on his vow from earlier in the night, and Solo is now set to be delivered to Roman Reigns — deepening the Bloodline civil war heading into the fall.

John Cena walked away from WWE in December 2025 with 17 world championships, a Grand Slam, and a resume that reads like a history book of the last two decades of professional wrestling. He beat The Rock, ended feuds with Lesnar, Undertaker, HHH, Angle, Edge, Orton, Batista, Punk, Styles, Owens, Rollins, Reigns, and dozens more across a 23-year run that closed with a tap-out loss to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event. But even a career that sprawling has holes in it. Some opponents were in a different company. Some were on the same roster for years and just never got booked against him. Some were on the wrong side of history — retired, injured, or simply timed out before creative connected the dots. Here's my ranking of the 10 dream opponents who never got their moment with Cena, and why each would've been must-see wrestling. 1. John Cena vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin This is the granddaddy of every "what if" list in WWE history. Austin and Cena represent two of the biggest merchandise-movers and most bankable stars the company has ever produced, from two entirely different eras of storytelling — Austin's beer-swilling rebellion versus Cena's hustle-loyalty-respect superhero routine. The two never actually locked up, though Austin did serve as a special guest referee for a string of Cena's SmackDown title defenses back in 2005, overseeing wins over JBL and Kurt Angle. When Cena was asked directly why it never happened, his answer was refreshingly simple: nobody ever pulled the trigger on it. He's said he would have loved to wrestle Austin, along with Andre the Giant, but chose to focus on gratitude for the matches he did get rather than the ones that slipped away. Given Austin's limited, sporadic in-ring appearances since the mid-2000s, this is a match that was always more likely to live in highlight-reel fantasy than reality — but it's still the one fans debate loudest. 2. John Cena vs. Goldberg Cena and Goldberg crossed paths exactly once in a competitive setting — the 2004 Royal Rumble, where both men entered late and were eliminated within minutes of each other, Goldberg going out 24th and Cena 25th. Beyond that, despite Goldberg's surprise 2016 return giving him fresh programs against Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, The Undertaker, and Kevin Owens, a singles match with Cena simply never materialized. Both men have publicly wished it had. Goldberg has said he never got the chance to put his hands around Cena's throat and admitted that would have been fun, while Cena, asked about it directly at a fan convention, shrugged it off with a joke about nobody ever telling him to do it. With both stars running retirement tours in the same calendar year, some in the wrestling media even pushed publicly for WWE to finally book the collision before either man hung up his boots — but the moment never came. 3. It remains one of the biggest "closest we'll ever get is a highlight reel" matchups in the sport, a genuine East-meets-West spectacle that wrestling fans on both sides of the Pacific wanted. 5. Omega's chaotic, physically punishing in-ring style against Cena's methodical, crowd-pandering formula represents exactly the kind of "different wrestling worlds colliding" dream match that fans still book in their heads on message boards and podcasts. 7. John Cena vs. MJF Before any physical contact, this matchup sells itself on the microphone. MJF built his entire AEW persona as a smarmy, self-obsessed heel mouthpiece, the stylistic opposite of Cena's aw-shucks, crowd-rallying babyface energy — and arguably the closest thing wrestling has produced to a spiritual successor to Cena's promo command, just inverted. A pre-match war of words between the two would have been appointment viewing regardless of who eventually won the bout. 8. John Cena vs. Bron Breakker WWE's next-generation powerhouse has drawn Goldberg comparisons for his explosiveness, and Goldberg himself specifically named Breakker as a fresh option he'd want to face in his own final run. Breakker's spear-and-power arsenal against Cena's five-moves-of-doom, capped by a passing-of-the-torch finish, would have made thematic sense as a way to formally hand the "next face of WWE" torch to the current generation — but the timing during Cena's farewell tour never aligned. 9. John Cena vs. Jey Uso Uso eliminated Cena from the 2025 Royal Rumble, and that moment briefly sparked real speculation about a proper singles follow-up between two of the most consistently beloved characters on WWE television. But Uso spent much of the rest of 2025 entangled in the World Heavyweight Championship picture, and the singles blowoff never got scheduled. Given how thunderously both men get over with live crowds, a full-length Cena-Uso singles match, likely a big babyface-vs-babyface crowd-pleaser, remains one of the more painful "so close" misses of Cena's final year. 10. John Cena vs. LA Knight Knight came the closest of anyone on this list to actually getting the match. He advanced deep into the "Last Time Is Now" tournament that determined Cena's final opponent, only to fall short to Gunther in the final. Given Knight's crowd-command style — arguably the most Cena-like energy on the current roster — a Knight-Cena passing-of-the-torch match, with Knight going over to cement his own ascension, felt like the more poetic send-off some fans wanted instead of the submission loss Cena ultimately chose.
