Nani The Paradise Teaser hits historic 350K likes milestone and surpasses his own previous benchmark set by HIT 3

BY SACNILK

The teaser for Natural Star Nani's upcoming film, The Paradise, has made an immediate impact upon its release. Within just 24 minutes, the footage crossed the 100K likes mark on YouTube, a pace that puts it in line with the numbers typically seen for Indian cinema's top-tier stars. This rapid engagement suggests a high level of anticipation for the project, specifically for the Telugu version, which appears to be heading toward a significant worldwide opening. Looking at the 24-hour performance, Nani has achieved another major milestone by scoring his second teaser with over 350K likes in a single day. The Paradise teaser managed to reach 382K likes in just 19 hours, effectively outpacing the previous record set by the actor's own HIT 3 teaser, which had gathered 353K likes in a full 24-hour window. This consistent growth in digital engagement indicates that the actor's fan base and general audience reach are expanding with each new project. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In the context of his peers in the industry, these numbers place Nani in a unique position. Currently, other notable Tier-2 stars such as Vijay Deverakonda and Naga Chaitanya have yet to cross the 350K likes threshold for a teaser within the first 24 hours of its release. The ability to generate such high immediate interaction is a key indicator of potential theatrical demand, and Nani's current trajectory suggests he is establishing a higher benchmark for digital hype in this category. The teaser itself, directed by Srikanth Odela, presents a raw and unapologetic world that marks a significant departure for the actor. Following their previous collaboration on Dasara, the filmmaker seems to have doubled down on a brutal and adrenaline-fueled narrative. Early reactions to the footage highlight an intense presentation that is being described as a cinematic explosion. With this level of pre-release momentum and a grittier version of Nani being showcased, the film looks set to drive massive footfalls across multiple languages upon its theatrical debut.

Jana Nayagan Week 2 Box Office: Rs. 36.54 Cr Gross; Needs 15 Cr More to Become Vijay's 3rd 150 Cr Tamil Nadu Grosser

BY SACNILK

Jana Nayagan has completed its second week at the box office, and the numbers tell a story of a strong regional performance coupled with significant challenges in the overseas market. As of the end of its fifteenth day, the film has achieved a worldwide gross collection of ₹308.67 Cr. The domestic market has been the primary driver, contributing an India gross of ₹215.87 Cr, while the overseas markets added ₹92.80 Cr to the tally. In terms of net earnings, the film has managed to pocket ₹185.15 Cr across a total of 114,846 shows tracked so far. The second week displayed a characteristic fluctuation in gross collections. Following a quieter second Friday with ₹4.12 Cr, the film saw a significant surge on Saturday, bringing in ₹9.05 Cr. This upward trend peaked on the second Sunday, which recorded a strong gross of ₹12.42 Cr. However, the typical weekday trend followed, with the second Monday seeing a drop to ₹4.43 Cr gross. By its fifteenth day, the daily gross settled at ₹1.84 Cr. Despite these mid-week variations, the film successfully crossed the ₹300 Cr worldwide gross milestone on its twelfth day, indicating a steady interest in the domestic market. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Jana Nayagan Week 2 State-wise Gross Totals: • Tamil Nadu: ₹ 29.58 Cr • Karnataka: ₹ 2.02 Cr • Rest of India: ₹ 2.84 Cr • Kerala: ₹ 1.66 Cr • APTG: ₹ 0.44 Cr Looking at the cumulative totals, Tamil Nadu remains the standout performer with a total gross of ₹134.83 Cr, followed by Karnataka at ₹29.67 Cr. With additional contributions from the Rest of India and Kerala, the overall India gross for Jana Nayagan now stands at a solid ₹215.87 Cr. The Tamil 2D version saw a substantial volume of viewers, recording 1,976,779 tracked footfalls. When we look at the numbers without block seats, the figure stands at 1,308,542, indicating a high level of genuine individual interest even in its second week. In comparison, the Hindi 2D version had a much lighter footprint with 199,268 total footfalls and 127,024 without block seats. This disparity confirms that while the film has a loyal following in the North, the heavy lifting is being done by the Tamil-speaking audience. A closer look at the regional and language breakdown reveals that Tamil Nadu remains the absolute stronghold for the film. In the second week alone, the Tamil version contributed a gross of ₹33.21 Cr. In contrast, the Hindi and Telugu versions had a much smaller footprint, with Hindi grossing ₹2.98 Cr and Telugu managing just ₹0.35 Cr during the same period. State-wise data confirms this trend, with Tamil Nadu providing a massive ₹134.83 Cr of the total India gross, followed by Karnataka at ₹29.67 Cr and the Rest of India at ₹21.89 Cr. In terms of audience engagement, BookMyShow data shows that Jana Nayagan has sold approximately 4.20 million tickets by the end of its second week. This impressive performance secures the film the fifth spot on the list of all-time highest ticket sales on the platform (trailing behind Jailer [8.13M], Leo [6.89M], Coolie [5.95M], and The Goat [4.23M]). The interest was particularly high during the second weekend, which saw a total of 446,580 tickets sold between Friday and Sunday, with the peak coming on Saturday with 180,670 bookings. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The performance in national multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis also remained steady, with more than 125,000 tickets sold across these chains throughout the week. On its fifteenth day, the movie recorded approximately 6,650 tickets sold in these chains, which translates to a gross of 8.75 Lakhs. Despite a higher show count for other major releases, Jana Nayagan maintained a healthy occupancy rate of about 9 percent across 300+ shows, showing that the core audience in regional markets is still turning up as the film enters its third week. While the domestic numbers are respectable, the overseas performance has been a different story. According to reporting from Venky Box Office, the film is heading for a disaster status in the North American market. The total gross in that region stands at just $1.56M, with a very low Tuesday collection of $8,000. For a film of this scale, the inability to crack the $2M mark in North America is a significant setback. Overall, the overseas gross has reached ₹92.80 Cr, showing that while the film has an audience abroad, it hasn't quite reached the heights expected of a top-tier South Indian production.

Magudam Trailer From August 7 as Vishal Targets August 14 Release Amidst Major Box Office Clash

BY SACNILK

Vishal has finally confirmed the arrival of his long-awaited directorial debut, Magudam. In a recent social media update, the actor-turned-director announced that the theatrical trailer will be unveiled on August 7, followed by a worldwide theatrical release on August 14. The film, which will be released as Makutam in Telugu, represents a major shift in Vishal's career as he takes on the dual responsibility of lead actor and director for the first time. The journey to this release has been defined by significant behind-the-scenes transitions and logistical hurdles. Production initially began with director Ravi Arasu, but major creative differences regarding the commercial elements of the story emerged midway through filming. This led to Arasu exiting the project, at which point Vishal decided to take over the directorial duties himself. However, the transition caused a temporary halt by the Film Employees Federation of South India and the Directors Guild, who required an official No Objection Certificate from the original director before allowing the shoot to resume. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Following the completion of the shoot in June, the project faced another unexpected delay due to a tragedy within the production house. The passing of legendary producer R. B. Choudary, whose banner Super Good Films is backing the project, led to a pause in promotional activities. As the 99th venture for the prestigious banner, release planning was temporarily deferred while his sons managed the internal transition and leadership discussions during the mourning period. For his first outing as a filmmaker, Vishal is challenging himself with a triple-role performance featuring three distinct characters. The narrative will see him portraying a middle-class medical representative, a die-hard fan of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja with eccentric behaviors, and a ruthless gangster whose arc spans from a young don to a seasoned leader. The film features a strong supporting cast including Anjali and Dushara Vijayan, with a musical score composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) By locking in the August 14 release date, Magudam is heading straight into a crowded box office showdown over the Independence Day holiday weekend. The film is set for a high-stakes theatrical race against Suriya's Vishwanath & Sons and the movie Hi, which features Nayanthara and Kavin in lead roles. This three-way clash will be a critical test for Vishal's versatility as he navigates the shift from a bankable action star to a filmmaker in a highly competitive market. Jana Nayagan OTT Release Date: When and Where To Watch Thalapathy Vijay's Political Actioner

BY SACNILK

Chennai, August 5 - Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan has reportedly locked its OTT release date after its theatrical run is slowing down. Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action drama is set to debut on digital platforms later this month, giving fans another opportunity to watch the superstar's final film. According to the latest update, Jana Nayagan will stream on ZEE5 starting August 21, 2026. The film was initially expected to arrive on Amazon Prime Video after reports of a lucrative digital rights deal. However, those plans reportedly changed following multiple release delays and other factors, with ZEE5 eventually acquiring the streaming rights. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Released in theatres on July 23, Jana Nayagan opened to huge anticipation but received largely negative reviews from critics and audiences. Despite the poor word of mouth, the film managed to cross the 300 crore mark worldwide, driven primarily by Vijay's massive fan following. However, the collection was well below the expectations associated with the superstar's final film and is widely regarded as a disappointing theatrical performer. Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Thalapathy Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and Narain in pivotal roles. With its OTT premiere now confirmed, the film will look to find a wider audience on streaming after an underwhelming run in cinemas. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})

Jana Nayagan Day 13: Rs. 2.39 Crore Gross as it Targets a 200 Crore Lifetime Total in Tamil Nadu

BY SACNILK

Jana Nayagan is holding its ground as it moves through the second week of its theatrical run. On Day 13, which was the second Tuesday, the film recorded an India gross collection of ₹2.39 Crore from 3,967 shows. This represents a 45.5 percent decline compared to the previous day gross earnings. While the numbers are naturally tapering off on weekdays, the cumulative performance remains impressive. To date, the total India gross collection has climbed to ₹211.74 Crore, showcasing the film ability to maintain interest across multiple regions even after two weeks. These domestic numbers contribute to a larger global success story that has been unfolding over the past few days. Thalapathy Vijay film has firmly established itself in the elite ₹300 Crore global gross club, marking the thirteenth time a Kollywood production has hit this milestone. It is notably the third film in the actor career to reach this level, following in the footsteps of Leo and GOAT. Additionally, the movie has reinforced his dominance in Tamil Nadu, serving as his ninth consecutive release to surpass the ₹100 Crore gross mark in his home state. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) A closer look at the state-wise gross performance for Day 13 shows that Tamil Nadu remains the primary engine, contributing ₹1.76 Crore. Other regions also added to the tally, with the Rest of India bringing in ₹0.30 Crore, while Karnataka and Kerala each contributed ₹0.15 Crore. The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markets added ₹0.03 Crore. Cumulatively, the film has put up a total gross numbers across these states, with Tamil Nadu leading at ₹131.61 Crore, followed by Karnataka at ₹29.47 Crore and Kerala at ₹16.60 Crore. In fact, Jana Nayagan has now become the top Kerala grosser of 2026, overtaking films like Blast and Karuppu. In terms of language performance, the Tamil version continues to be the strongest contributor, earning a net of ₹1.80 Crore on Tuesday with an occupancy of 21 percent across 2,338 shows. The Hindi version added ₹0.28 Crore from 1,512 shows at 11 percent occupancy, while the Telugu version contributed ₹0.02 Crore from 117 shows at 13 percent occupancy. Looking at the overall language-wise totals in India, the Tamil gross stands at ₹183.07 Crore, the Hindi gross at ₹18.44 Crore, and the Telugu gross at ₹10.24 Crore. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) National theater chains showed steady but lower activity on this second Tuesday. According to the data, PVR sold 2,500 tickets for a gross of ₹3.35 Lakhs across 170 shows. INOX followed with 1,250 tickets sold and a gross of ₹1.40 Lakhs from 90 shows. Cinepolis rounded out the group with 250 tickets and ₹30,000 in gross from 40 shows. In total, these national chains accounted for 4,000 tickets sold and a gross of approximately ₹5 Lakhs across 300 shows. Occupancy trends for the Tamil 2D version showed an overall daily average of 21.17 percent. The evening shows were the busiest, peaking at 27.31 percent. In key regions, Chennai led with 28.5 percent occupancy across 358 shows. Coimbatore recorded 21.8 percent occupancy from 145 shows, while Bengaluru and Madurai saw 15.5 percent and 14.5 percent occupancy respectively. For the Hindi 2D version, the National Capital Region was the highlight with 25.3 percent occupancy from 64 shows, while Ahmedabad and Surat recorded lower levels at 11 percent and 9.8 percent. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Digital interest remains significant, though the film missed the top five spots for second Tuesday ticket sales on BookMyShow, trailing behind titles like Jailer and Leo. On Tuesday, the platform recorded 32,420 tickets booked, compared to 54,340 on Monday. This brings the total ticket sales on BookMyShow to over 4.14 million. Overseas, the film continues to find an audience, adding ₹0.75 Crore on its thirteenth day. This brings the total overseas gross to ₹92.00 Crore. When combined with the Indian gross of ₹211.74 Crore, the worldwide gross collection now stands at ₹303.74 Crore. This marks a historic Triple Hat-trick for Thalapathy Vijay in Tamil Nadu, as Jana Nayagan is now his ninth consecutive film to cross the ₹100 Crore gross mark in the state.

Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan Box Office Crawls Past 300 Crore Worldwide In 12 Days

BY SACNILK

Chennai, August 4 - Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan has achieved a major milestone at the worldwide box office by crossing the 300 crore gross mark in 12 days of its theatrical run. Although the film has slowed considerably after its good opening week, the latest feat underlines Vijay's immense star power and the unwavering support of his fan base. The milestone is especially significant as the film is widely regarded as the actor's final theatrical release before his full-time political career. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan has grossed approximately 209.25 crore in India and around 91 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide total to nearly 300.50 crore after 12 days. The film added close to 5 crore worldwide on its second Monday, showing a decent hold despite the expected weekday slowdown. With this, the political action thriller has become the second Tamil film of the year to enter the 300 crore worldwide club. It will most likely cross Suriya's Karuppu (310 crores gross) to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year (so far), and that will be a massive feat given the circumstances. Despite this impressive milestone, Jana Nayagan will still finish its theatrical run as a box office flop due to its enormous production and recovery costs. The film also faced several setbacks before and after release, including multiple postponements, online leaks, and overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics and sections of the audience. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Even so, it managed to overcome those obstacles to crawl past 300 crore globally, highlighting the extraordinary drawing power of Thalapathy Vijay. This marks the actor's third 300 crore worldwide grosser, after The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) and Leo. The 300 crore landmark also carries emotional significance for fans, as it marks the box office farewell of one of South Indian cinema's most beloved superstars. Irrespective of its commercial verdict, Jana Nayagan has once again demonstrated Vijay's ability to bring audiences to theatres on a massive scale. As the film enters the final phase of its theatrical run, it closes an era for Tamil cinema while giving fans one last opportunity to celebrate the remarkable box office legacy of Thalapathy Vijay.

Rashmika Mandanna Faces Painful Recovery After Detached Hip Tendon Injury Disrupts Intense Mysaa Production

BY SACNILK

Rashmika Mandanna is learning the hard way that even the National Crush has a breaking point. After a series of back-to-back freak accidents, the actress took to social media to reveal a significant setback sustained on the sets of her upcoming project, Mysaa. The injury, which involves a detached tendon on her right hip, occurred during an intense dance shoot for what she describes as the most aggressive film of her career. The medical reality of the situation is quite technical, as Mandanna explained that one of the four tendons connecting her hip to her leg has detached and requires time to reattach naturally. This forced hiatus is a rare moment of stillness for an actress who famously treats her body like a machine, training and running like a beast to maintain her peak physical form. While she is currently trading the gym for puzzles and joking about her transition into a dessert monster, the industry is eyeing the recovery timeline closely given her packed professional calendar. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film at the center of this incident, Mysaa, has been generating significant underground buzz as a high-octane venture that pushes Mandanna into a new territory of performance. Directed by Rawindra Pulle, the project is rumored to be a gritty, performance-oriented drama that demands both emotional depth and physical rigour. The aggressive nature of the shoot mentioned by the actress suggests that Mysaa will be a stark departure from her more traditional commercial outings, positioning her as a versatile lead capable of carrying intense, action-oriented narratives. This injury comes at a high-stakes juncture in Mandanna's career, as she navigates a post-Pushpa 2 landscape where her status as a pan-Indian A-lister is already cemented. With the global frenzy of Srivalli now a part of box office history following the film's massive 2024 release, her focus has shifted to a slate that is as diverse as it is demanding. Topping the current buzz is Mysaa, the very project that pushed her to this physical breaking point. Described as her most aggressive venture to date, Mysaa is expected to unveil a grittier, more physically taxing side of the actress that audiences have not yet witnessed. Also appearing on her professional timeline is Ranabaali, a period action epic that carries its own set of high expectations. The film features a powerhouse ensemble, headlined by her husband Vijay Deverakonda alongside international veteran Arnold Vosloo, whose presence adds a significant layer of commercial weight and global energy to the production. Ajith Kumar's Next Titled Dare Devil: Adhik Ravichandran Join Forces For Thala's 34th Anniversary Surprise

BY SACNILK

The Tamil film industry is currently buzzing with the surprise announcement of Ajith Kumar's next project, titled Dare Devil. This reveal comes as a special tribute to celebrate the actor's 34-year journey in the world of cinema. Director Adhik Ravichandran, who is currently working on another project with the star, took to social media to unveil the title along with a striking poster featuring dice spelling out the name. What makes this project even more significant is the production house; the film is being produced by Shalini Ajith Kumar under the newly formed Bravehearts Production banner, marking a major personal and professional milestone for the family. Ajith Kumar had a highly active 2025, delivering two major theatrical releases. His year began with the February release of the Magizh Thirumeni directorial Vidaamuyarchi, which achieved a worldwide gross of approximately ₹135.89 crore. He followed this with the massive success of Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Good Bad Ugly emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2025, earning a worldwide gross of ₹248.25 crore and being declared a commercial Hit. With the announcement of Dare Devil, Ajith is set to continue this momentum, reuniting with the director of his most recent box office success. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The technical crew for Dare Devil suggests a high-octane commercial entertainer. Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the music, marking a quick reunion with Ajith Kumar following their collaboration on the 2025 film Vidaamuyarchi. Given Anirudh's track record, his presence is expected to deliver a chart-topping soundtrack and a significant boost to the film's pre-release buzz. The cinematography will be handled by Abinandhan Ramanujam, while Editor Vijay and stunt choreographer Supreme Sundar are also part of the core team. Adhik Ravichandran's recent dominance at the box office with the 2025 hit Good Bad Ugly has established him as a director who truly understands the pulse of the masses, making this new collaboration one of the most anticipated announcements in Kollywood. The choice of title, Dare Devil, fits perfectly with Ajith’s real-life persona as an adventure enthusiast and a risk-taker. Throughout his 34 years in the industry, he has built a massive fan base solely through his screen presence and the quality of his films, famously sticking to a no-promotions policy for over a decade. As the poster for Dare Devil circulates on social media, the dice aesthetic hints at a possible gambling or heist-related sub-plot, similar to some of his most loved characters in the past. 34 years of breaking barriers, inspiring millions, and redefining stardom. Jana Nayagan Week 1 Box Office: Thalapathy Vijay Hits Rs. 260 Cr Globally as TN Gross Smashes 100 Cr Record

BY SACNILK

Thalapathy Vijay latest outing, Jana Nayagan, has wrapped up its first week with the kind of dominance that has become a trademark of his career. As the buzz around his final few films continues to grow, the expectations for this project were sky-high, leading to a massive release across 13,067 shows on its opening day. Over an extended eight-day first week, the film has successfully converted that initial hype into substantial numbers, officially posting a worldwide gross collection of ₹260.25 Cr. The global performance is backed by a solid domestic trends, where the film earned ₹153.48 Cr in net collections. The journey to this figure was marked by several milestones: it crossed the ₹50 Crore net mark on its first day itself, breached the ₹100 Crore net mark by the end of its first Sunday, and reached the ₹150 Crore net milestone on Day 8. While the Tamil version naturally led the charge with a net of ₹131.02 Cr, the Telugu and Hindi versions added ₹8.83 Cr and ₹13.63 Cr respectively, showing a decent footprint outside its primary market. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In its home territory of Tamil Nadu, Jana Nayagan has achieved a significant historical feat. By grossing ₹102.00 Cr in the state within just one week, it has become the ninth film in Vijay career to cross the 100 Crore gross milestone in Tamil Nadu. This puts the film in an elite club alongside his previous blockbusters like Leo, The Greatest of All Time, Varisu, Bigil, Master, Sarkar, Mersal, and Beast. Beyond the home state, the film also saw strong support in Karnataka with ₹27.08 Cr and Kerala with ₹14.90 Cr gross. Analyzing the day-wise trend, the film started with a massive ₹42.70 Cr net on Thursday, followed by a 50.5 percent drop on Friday. However, the first weekend saw a strong rebound, with Sunday collections hitting ₹32.00 Cr net. The momentum was eventually challenged on Day 8 by the global release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Marvel wave had a significant impact on national chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis, where the superhero film sold over 5.94 lakh tickets. This shift in audience attention led to Jana Nayagan show count being reduced to 5,496 and ticket sales in national chains dipping to around 11,114 for the day, resulting in a Day 8 net of ₹3.98 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The theater occupancy figures throughout the week highlight the strong initial pull and typical weekday stabilization. Day 1 opened with an overall Tamil occupancy of 68.31 percent, with Chennai leading at a near-capacity 97 percent. Bengaluru also showed strong interest with 54.3 percent occupancy on the first day. While weekday occupancy settled between 15 and 25 percent, Sunday saw a massive surge back to 69.04 percent. This high engagement is further evidenced by the footfall data, which recorded a total of 6,341,236 viewers, with the actual seated footfall standing at 4,150,481 for the week. On the international stage, the film grossed ₹81.00 Cr. According to data from Venky Box Office, the North American market saw a total gross of $1.48M, including a $34K Wednesday. Malaysia remains a primary stronghold with $2.06M, followed by the UK and Europe at $1.7M and the Middle East at $1.31M. Other significant contributors include Singapore at $755K and Australia at $503K. These numbers ensured that the film stayed ahead of the curve globally even as domestic competition increased. The overseas market has provided a significant cushion, with several key territories posting strong numbers over the first six days. Malaysia remains at the forefront of this international run, contributing $2.06M (approximately ₹17.20 Cr). The UK and Europe market follows closely with a collection of $1.7M (₹14.19 Cr), while the Middle East has added a solid $1.31M (₹10.94 Cr) to the global tally. In other regions, the film found steady footing with Singapore contributing $755K (₹6.30 Cr) and Australia adding $503K (₹4.20 Cr). Even smaller markets like Sri Lanka and other rest-of-world territories combined for $425K (₹3.55 Cr), with New Zealand adding a further $47K (₹0.39 Cr). These figures highlight the consistent global appeal that helps the film offset any weekday fluctuations in the domestic market. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In terms of digital engagement, Jana Nayagan recorded 36.14 lakh tickets sold on BookMyShow by the end of its first week. This performance places it as the fourth-highest first-week ticket seller for a South Indian film, trailing only behind Jailer, Leo, and Coolie, and staying comfortably ahead of The GOAT. A significant portion of this volume came from national chains, which accounted for over 6.75 lakh tickets sold across the eight-day period. DC The Bloody Valentine Trailer marks the gritty acting debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj in this raw action thriller

BY SACNILK

The trailer for DC, also known as DC: The Bloody Valentine, has finally landed, and the buzz on social media suggests that the audience is ready for something very raw. This project is particularly interesting because it features Lokesh Kanagaraj, the mastermind behind the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, stepping in front of the camera as the lead actor. Directed by Arun Matheswaran and backed by Sun Pictures, the film promises a gritty experience that is quite different from the usual commercial fare. The strategy behind the release date is quite logical. Initially planned for a late-July slot, the makers decided to move the film to August 7, 2026. This was done to ensure that Thalapathy Vijay's massive release, Jana Nayagan, which hit theaters on July 23, had enough breathing room at the box office. Interestingly, Lokesh himself made a cameo appearance in Jana Nayagan, showing the strong camaraderie between the director and the actor-politician before he prepares to lead his own film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Looking at the trailer highlights, the story follows two outcasts, Devadas played by Lokesh and Chandra played by Wamiqa Gabbi. They find themselves on a violent run after a police officer seeks revenge for a fallen colleague. The narrative also introduces a gang of criminals who have stolen a stash of discarded weapons, a theme that feels very familiar to fans of Lokesh's previous works like Vikram. To elevate the intensity, director Arun Matheswaran has opted for high-contrast black-and-white visuals for the action scenes, which has earned the film an A certification from the censors due to the raw action sequencing. The musical score is handled by Anirudh Ravichander, who seems to have delivered a high-energy background that matches the film dark aesthetic. Lokesh is currently in a very busy phase of his career. Having delivered the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie in 2025, he is now balancing his acting debut while preparing for his official Telugu debut with Allu Arjun in a project currently referred to as AA23. Watch the trailer here: Public interest is already visible on digital platforms. Ahead of its August 7 release, over 14,000 users have already marked themselves as interested on BookMyShow India. With the heavy competition from July now starting to settle, DC: The Bloody Valentine is well-positioned to attract the target audience that enjoys intense, stylised action dramas. It remains to be seen if Lokesh the actor can match the massive success of Lokesh the director.
