At the Royal Rumble on 28 January, Ripley appeared at ringside during the men’s Royal Rumble match to assist her stablemates in their attack on Edge, only to be speared by Edge’s wife, Beth Phoenix. ## Later that night, Ripley won the women’s Royal Rumble match by last eliminating Liv Morgan. With this victory, Ripley became the fourth wrestler (after Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, and Edge) and the first female to win it from the first position. ## By winning the Royal Rumble match, she now stacks the option to challenge either SmackDown Women's Championship or Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 39. ## While speaking at Royal Rumble Post-Show Press Conference, Ripley spoke on her decision to choose the championship. ## "You know, I'm gonna have a lot of thinking to do before WrestleMania. I'm very very torn by this decision. I've stepped in the ring with Bianca many times and I absolutely love every second in the ring with her. I think that we bring outside of each other that not many people see and we really take each other to the absolute limit, but then again, it's the same with Charlotte. ## Charlotte also holds the Smackdown Women's Championship. So if I would accuse her I cannot only beat her for the first time ever in this thing was met which is something that I really really want to do, but I also become a grand slam Champion if I do.
